i think and i may be wrong on that, it also require to kill mawrats for example, it took me around 7-9 mins on a lvl 200 rogue, with no legendary for the spec i was playing, to clear each floor of the layer 9 and still got 4 gems, as i said earlier, if you just want to go at your own pace, nothing is wrong with it and as you will progress with tower knowledge and unlock more perks, your run will improve and there will come a time when you will be able to get on new layers without having to stress about it

if you cant solo torghast to at least 4 stars (its jokingly easy) something is seriously wrong with you
My only issue is there’s a floor that I can’t get to the mobs and it counts against me. I literally kill, break, and free everything. The weird floors that are way above the area are completely unreachable and I’ve got Ven’ari’s special teleport thing but none of them were there. So it gave me a 64% on the floor.

thankfully you can do it solo
i just did upper and lower tonight on the new 9 layers to see what the difference is like. got 5 stars on both, derping around smashing pots and killing things.
didnt even notice the affixes. positive or negative. the upper run though i did get a really terrible for dps, but very fun lot of powers with full stack of the tigerpalm trait. its absolutely terrible for dps, but basically having shadowstep on every second attack meant i zipped around the place quick. its atrociously bad for actually killing anything, but man is it fun getting basically a 25+ yard attack that teleports me to my target.
the timer i didnt even see. where is it in the UI? i saw it on the scorecard at the end, but as a visual during the run i was clueless to it. i felt like i was going slower than normal just trying out the new layer.
and as an aside for this patch: oh boy do we have a whole bunch of new currencies to farm. knowledge this, teachings that, some legendary thing im looting, and some chit, and some other what have yous. it feels like im playing another KMMO again.
as an edit: ive only ever run it solo. do you get more stuff for going in a group?

Yeah I literally got up, smoked, forgot I was Torghast, came back and still 3-starred a run. Greatly over-exaggerated claims here. And people wonder why the devs don’t ‘listen to feedback’ when this is the feedback lol
Plus they can see you log in and continue to play after you said you wouldn’t

Trying to “time” Torghast is one of the worst ways of getting score. Not dying, killing everything, using Empowerment efficiently and going for easy bonus objectives such as killing two elites at almost the same time, killing the final boss while having 500 phantasma or not picking up any purple/epic anima power will give you far more score than running against the clock.
Don’t pick up any epic/purple powers.
Don’t get damage from traps.
Kill two elites at almost the same time (10 between them I think it was).
Kill the final boss while holding 500 phantasma.

It’s like Torghast is starting to shape up to what it was supposed to be from the start, a rougelike experience where you get more power and knowledge making it easier on future runs, with a clear progression path with the cube.
Just think if its progress wasnt mandatory for the campaign and leggos they could have no issues messing around with the content while players live test it. This is the problem with having a content in beta be the focal point of an expansion however.
Fixed that for you. I’m perfectly happy with content having actual pacing and not being ResidentSleeper Grandpa gameplay.
If you want ResidentSleeper status, you can now attain Soul Cinders and Sockets/Conduits through Korthia and Maw activities. You don’t need to play Torghast at all unless you are a min-max player.

Yeah make sure you are using the Empowered buff a lot, and make sure you are doing as much as possible with it. and yeah you need to be moving pretty quickly
Just make your own? Additional bonus perk: you can kick people being toxic.

Yup I tried to get in a torghast group yesterday and its impossible. DENIED!!
Why these devs do this crap is beyond me. Its like they dont think about

The more they create this elitist exclusionary game the less I wanna play it.
