The new Interview

Some new information will be thrown at us, about internal Blizzard insights, and where the journey with the characters will go.

Including Sylvanas, Anduin, and Tyrande.

Decent interview and a few good things I hope they actually manage to stick with.

No more bouts of Horde going murder crazy because their leader says so, Alliance getting some internal strife, fallout from the Fourth War continuing, and N’zoth playing 4d backgammon.

The Alliance seems overly accepting and forgiving of the fact the Horde burned down Teldrassil and genocided the Elves, in my view. I feel a bit like that is glossed over, perhaps?

In the epilogue scenes in Visions of N’Zoth, we wanted to show that Tyrande clearly has not forgotten what happened and will not accept any treaty that doesn’t see Sylvanas—and the Horde—answer for the crimes of burning the World Tree and the murder of innocents.

Wars have a way of changing the world and those who inhabit it, in ways both broad and subtle. These changes do not resolve cleanly in a short span of time; that wouldn’t feel genuine or true to the deep wounds inflicted by the Fourth War. So, while many fans are eager to see the resolution of what happened at Teldrassil, there is a lot more story that needs to unfold before it can be fully addressed. These characters have a long way to go, and many more lessons to learn.

Or in other words: “Wait a few expansions and something might happen somewhere in some world”

On another note: Did that interview just confirm that the undead Night Elves will go back into the Alliance?

The Alliance is showing fractures that have not healed cleanly, and that storyline will continue into Shadowlands.

Or, you know, wait until Shadowlands.

will continue into shadowlands =/= will be concluded in shadowlands

I will write, weekends at the latest, more detail to the points.

You didn’t say conclude, you said “something might happen”. Something is happening next expansion.

Tyrande can say 1 line in Shadowlands or be defeated by Nathanos and it would “continue into shadowlands”. Give me actual story progression that’s not embarrassing. Give me something that shows that the Night Elves still can do things other than losing.

Give me more than tyrande saying 1 sentence in a badly rendered cutscene in shadowlands while she is standing around in Stormwind doing nothing.

“We’re gonna learn more about Tyrande’s story. Obviously, she is still very upset about what happened to her people. That’s going to lead her to Ardenweald. She’s gonna get some answers to some questions, and there’s gonna be some stuff coming with her that’s too spoiler-y to talk about but there’s more Tyrande…. All I can say is she has a pretty big story moment in Ardenweald. Very big role also.”

Sounds like she’ll have more than one line to me.

I don’t know how to feel about the answers, but I appreciate the interviewer stating the criticisms of the expansion.

We’ll see I guess. From my past experience, I can tell that whenever Night Elves are involved in the lore, it never ends well for them.

Maybe Shadowlands will change that trend, or it will just be continued by Tyrande doing something either very embarrassing, dying to Nathanos or whatever else they have planned.

Hopefully there will be some datamining and footage from the upcoming Shadowlands alpha.

I too liked the questions, not so much the answers though.

Hopefully alpha is soon with all of the encrypted builds they’ve been putting out.

Though I’m not expecting anything but Bastion to be unlocked unless they want to test something like the new starting zone.

Not at all? Do you not think Ardenweald will be unlocked later on?

Later on it will, I meant more that when the alpha first comes out I’m expecting it to just be a single zone so they can funnel people into it for testing before opening up the other zones.

yea that seems likely to me. I just hope they will let us datamine things at all to know if Shadowlands will even be worth the wait.

The more I think about it the angrier I get, but I wasn’t sure if making a thread was worth it. Why is it that the war chief is such a flawed system of government, that it has to be discarded for a council; while the high king is immune to any abuses of power?

Because most of the story team plays Alliance.

Seriously though, I think it’s because the devs honestly don’t see that the High King is just Blue Warchief and even if they do Anduin is just such a Good Boy that they can’t see a similar situation happening to the Alliance.
