Twinking at low levels is exactly the same as wearing raid gear into lvl 60 battle grounds. Getting the best stuff you can and playing the contest. In Vanilla WoW, anyone is just as capable of gearing up as anyone else. It comes down to desire and choice.

I made twinks, but also did this on characters I didn’t twink.
Unfortunately, not all games are balanced on the twink ratio…
Solo players who refuse to play with friends have been doing this since the dawn of time.
These people have single truly damaged the game beyond repair. This is why we’re here slamming the hammer of NO CHANGES down on every single post there they nag and beg for quality of life improvements.
All that toxic waste can stay in BFA for all I care, not going to touch that filth again.

I had a 29 twink at one point during BC. Even got him the Arena Grandmaster trinket. After I got him all twinked out, filled him with twink items like discombobulators and whatnot I did a few BGs. Then I rapidly got bored of it and deleted them to make space for a class I didn’t have.
Turned out I only cared about the challenge of making the twink, not fighting the other players in the BGs.
Take a look at the GD, they’re celebrating the fact that the already small twink community is no longer able to play the game due to segregated queues. The playerbase is happy that the game now offers even less things to do and that the developers alienated even more players.
Also consider that by retail standards, anybody who isn’t wearing gear from 30 levels ago, isn’t missing gear in multiple slots and actually has some cheap enchants/gems, is considered a twink. Those people are happy over the death of yet another community and the fact that the game continues to shrink.
The only reason they join low level BGs is for the quick and easy EXP for yet another pointless alt so they can continue playing the dress-up and mount/pet/achievement farming simulator, all alone.

The thing about twinks is they take away any fun in pvping while leveling up. Say im getting tired of my grind to level 60 and want a different activity. Between 10-30 you are limited to probably less then 15 zones of which maybe 3 are productive at any current level. Say i just want to casually pvp at level 26. I could probably be competitve against anyone in the bg except a twink who nearly doubles me in gear.
Honest question for people who played in 2004-06: how common were twinks in the teens and 20’s brackets?
I played then, didn’t have a max character before TBC, so all of my BG time was spent in those lower level ranges, and I remember playing against them, and dueling against then when I was higher leveled just for fun, but I really don’t remember feeling like every time a BG popped there were multiple twinks in the game. Some days it happened and you played with/against the same person multiple games in a row or all night. Some days you didn’t have any.
Does anybody else have memories of how common they were? This argument seems to be focused on the idea that every BG had twinks dominating it, but I remember twinks being a significant minority. And also being awesome to have on your team.
I’m joining this conversation late it seems.
What I don’t understand about twink players is they love competition yet they specifically stay in a lower level bracket and give their toon such a large advantage over all the regular players just trying to take a break from the endless grind. Where is the competitive fun in that?
In retail they have twink only brackets and that seems more fitting for the twinks community so that you actually need to be competitive.
This doesn’t apply to all players who twink but the general consensus I’ve always got towards twink players is they’re simply disgruntled griefers at heart. Not all, but most. However like one of the first posts on this thread said, they were in Vanilla so they should be in classic and I agree with them even though I hate it lol.

I dont recall how common they were in vanilla. By wotlk they were about 85% of the low level bracket. In classic its actually potentially going to be an issue because of the lack of change. Even if 1 more person makes a twink every week in each bracket by 2 years in thats a large number of twinks and with bad luck you may be facing 3-4 at a time.
Both are fun. Sometimes it’s fun to steam roll levelers in poor gear. Other times you grow bored of no challenge and want to run into other twinks to face off with and build rivalries with. Twink vs twink games are quite fun. The only somewhat big issue is that class imbalance at low levels can warp the meta terribly. You might do good in randoms but if your spec is weak competitively then you lose ambition to play it and might reroll to a good class.
You can say the same for really geared 60s I suppose. Rolling over the fresh 60s can be fun but eventually you want to face geared and skilled opponents. Some 60s premade might be looking for easy wins to farm others, but the other 60s premade are hunting competition and want to queue I to enemy premades.

Well, I guess all the “anti twink” cry babies are just going to have to deal with playing with twinks in battle grounds, or learn how to play an MMORPG with with other people – a novel concept, I know.

Doesn’t that pretty much describe all PvP activity though? What would you count as “wholesome fun” in PvP? Maybe you’re happier when we all watch half-hour-long arena matches that only finally end when the healing debuff becomes too great?
I remember watching the audience during one of those e-sport events at a Blizzcon. Most of them were half asleep.
Maybe Blizzard thinks it’s fun when nothing happens, but I like to see things move along. If I’m not good enough, send me back to the graveyard so I can fight someone else. Don’t make it a contest of patience fatigue.

Yes the first time blizz introduced XP into bg’s. The twink community was spread out, unorganized, and the que was broken. Gee. It’s a wonder there is still a community to this day. There is though because some are very dedicated.
This time is because of the new races. All those ZT’s and KT’s leveling. Blizz can’t allow their leveling process to be slowed after making them wait for almost the entire expansion to release 2 races that were advertised before the expansion launched. Lol.
Wait until the bg ques drop off again. They will combine them again. I know. It will be because of the whining though in some people’s minds. Smh.
Because classic will eventually be a server full of level 60 twinks. Twinking started in Vanilla. You people who can’t be bothered to set foot into a dungeon or que for bg’s at the top of the bracket instead of being a free kill? Too bad. Gear up or go home. Your tears are authentic. Keep em coming. I’m brewing tea.
Oh and btw. With bg’s being released later. I’ll have a toon or two ready for a couple brackets. Maybe not a full blown twink but even my alts get some kind of gear before they que for bg’s.
Anyone queuing in complete crap gear or at the low end of the bracket should be expecting to get steamrolled. It’s that simple.
The real problem is some have it in their heads they should be able to compete with bottle rockets against a tank. Hate to break it to you but that’s not how RPG leveling/gearing works. 14 years. Figure it out or get rolled. Plenty of resources out there and maybe some nice twink will give ya some guidance.

I said in one of these threads that people in mediocre gear are labeled as twinks because others are at the low end of the bracket and poorly geared.
“Omg he has a blue item. It’s a twink”.
Idk about anyone else but my first encounters with pvp were fast and I was dead. I couldn’t tell you who or what killed me. That is what drove me to learn. Eventually after much practice, research, and many, many, many deaths it started to slow down. I got better in gear, knowledge, and skill. I’m not great but I do like fighting. Lol.
Some don’t know what their own class does let alone the class that killed them or the intricacies of gearing with the synergies of items, talents, buffs, and consumables.

i had a 19 rogue twink i messed around with.
were there were some good fights against other twinks? totally.
but mostly i did it to mow down non twinks when i was bored.
power difference was insane.
i remember at 19 running into an opposing lvl 30 something in ashenvale - without really knowing what to expect i figured i’d rather attack first and see what happened rather than be on the defensive.
ripped him to shreds.
