One Kyrian’s purpose is another’s brainwashing cult. It works both ways. I am sure when the Anima is flowing that the system works a little better but it is still a bit over the top.

I agree 100%. I just think it’s hypocritical that lots of people who are religious think the Kyrian are bad when it’s like literally the same thing. There’s entire sections of the Bible just completely condemning individuality, I don’t even know how Christians could value individuality at all.

Yo this expansion has shown there are a lot of people who are not only vulnerable to joining a cult, but desperately want to be in one. We even saw them torturing people who had “doubts”. They even have a Ministry of Loyalty for the biggest “doubters” to be sent to.
I really makes you wonder what kind of work environment there is a blizzard when they produce a expansion that says cults are good actually. wtf.

The weird part is what I am an atheist and kinda of a nihilist. Which may seem off putting that I chose the Kyrian, but I like that they value duty, purpose, and self-sacrifice for a higher cause. I don’t see it as attached to religion.
Plus winged, fit, blue girls are pretty.
It makes 100% perfect sense a nihilist would want to join a cult.

Look, I am not on either side either. I have had religious groups protest me and things I enjoy while I have also been attacked because as certain points in my life I had belonged to a religion.
IMHO the religious folks try to talk you out of things. They try to convince you that you are wrong. I have only seen a very few of the you are going to burn in Helya’s dominion. Most just ignore you if you walk away.
However, IMHO, the anti religious folks try to crush you for not agreeing with them. From losing your job, to getting you banned from things simply for wrong think. These are the types that will chase you down and try to stop you if you walk away.
I don’t belong to an organized religion and haven’t for years but I don’t hate them either so if it makes someone happy to go either way, more power to them. I really don’t have a horse in this race except on these forums, there seems to be more of one side, and that side is tremendously more vindictive than the other…
That the players (the living Maw Walkers) get to choose which covenant to help has no bearing on the souls that get sent there. They didn’t get a choice. You will never be a blue foot soldier, you’ll go back to whatever life/expansion is next. They’re stuck there forever, repeatedly being told that they need to give up everything they are until they do so.
The ones who are waiting for the transformation are stuck in a reeducation center with the converts repeatedly telling them how important it is that they just give in and accept.

IMO, every possible destination for a soul in the Shadowlands is its own special type of hell. I wonder if maybe that’s the point, and Blizzard wants us to think, “Wow, this is pretty crappy.”

The Kyrian are not doing their purpose for the “state.” They are public servants doing a task for the people. Definitely not fascism when you are caring about others.
This is why I’m basically on team Maw. I kinda want the jailer to succeed. Burn it all down. I can say that because this is a video game and not real life.
An endorsement of communism would be if the Kyrian who weren’t ascended rose up and seized the means of anima production so they could profit from their own labor instead of just the ascended Kyrians hoarding it all for themselves.
