The "keep up" model of tanking

Who knows if she ever even will get to cap? Her favorite thing is transmogs so far so I see a lot of “irrelevant” content in both my future and her own on the game.

I mean she’s also 8 so I don’t think her biggest concern in life is impressing sweddies on WoW.

i can cap a toon in a day this game isnt hard. i was playing halo CE when i was 8 lol. it doesnt take long to cap and once you get there what are you gonna do just normals?

What does it matter? FWIW I pugged to AOTC with my Pally in S2 before taking a break. Dipped my feet in heroic raids, etc.

I just don’t find that content any more “relevant” to me than anything else I can find to enjoy in the game. It’s a video game. Going slow your first time (mere days by your estimation) isn’t exactly being taught that 2+2=5 for your entire youth.

You aren’t going to build habits that can’t be overcome in that kind of time. Calm down.

edit Sorry I don’t mean AOTC. I mean KSM. Failure on my part.

It’s really wild that I have people berating me because I’m not judging an 8 year old, telling her to go faster, and reminding her that random nobodies have expectations that she isn’t meeting. I’m moving groups along at the pace we desire, as others do, it just isn’t their pace…and that makes them mad.

Kind of fun tbh.

I’d legit afk or do as little as possible if I got in your run. No point putting in effort if there is none from the beginning

You’d be kicked, actually, because we are the majority in our runs.

im guessing you dont make many friends lol

Quality over quantity my guy.

i see you as a guy who goes slow in the fast lane to look at the scenery on the side of the road or the guy hogging the left lane not merging to the right

“These guys are going so slow and taking forever, I’m going to sit here and do nothing and make it take even longer!”

Oh no.

So, anyways.

To be fair, it’s not like going quickly actually requires 3 DPS.

I remember doing Uldaman back in TBC with some friends as Ret. I had to take a quick bio break and came back to find they had run off without me and were having no problems. I felt pretty useless at that point. :worried:

Things have not gotten better since then… :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I mean I’m not sitting here purposefully making it go as long as possible. She’s not just mindlessly bumbling around with no idea of what is happening or what priorities should be.

I’m just not going to put the expectations of others on her or above her fun.

As always “your experience may vary during online play” but it doesn’t need to if it can be avoided.

I ran a few TW last week where I was top dps as heals. If there was a decent tank or dps, we could’ve 2-manned those dungeons and it wouldn’t have felt much different than with 5.

I’m not sure how I feel about that either. On the one hand, I’ve leveled so many toons, it’s just not my favorite thing to do anymore so I’m glad it’s quick. On the other hand, it’s kind of a snoozefest as is.

I play with my husband and our daughter sometimes still plays, though not as much these days. She played more a few years ago and was about your daughter’s age. I don’t think we ever queued with her - we just took her to dungeons and ran them as a 3-person group so we could do as we please. We even ran some low keys with her and a couple of our friends.

it has taken me several hours to try and understand everyone’s position - and i’m not looking for homework –
Mythic plus has key levels and tanks rule, because bliz (and all games) have put them in the control of the mob and the boss ability role. Subsequently any new individual has to keep up with that toon (tank) who controls the run. The tank that is running has their own objectives, and you have to follow them to survive the run despite what you need to do. Should you just follow and go with it? Can you level up if you do? Does one try to change the run? Maybe just go with it until you learn it. I wish it was different, I’m hoping the new AI will help, but I’m not blaming a tank wanting to increase and I’m not going to persecute someone for hating this system. Instead of all the negative mashing, is there a solution, say mythic -?

We’ve done that as well, but like I said earlier, we’ve received no complaints in game. While that may change, it seems the majority of people in the actual game don’t seem to take issue with how we’ve been playing.

The highest dungeon we’ve run is Dire Maul so far. We aren’t exactly pushing keys here and the difference in completion time is pretty negligible.

Notable is that the people that have these other expectations could also do the same thing. That’s all.

I find this is usually the case. GD is a microcosm of malcontent.

The Dire Maul East group was fun because we completely missed starting the Imp at the beginning of the run and it was one of our randoms that insisted on going back for it.

I was like, yes, I love this person.

How dare you expect for me to follow the majority of the group! That is only valid when the majority follows my lead!
