The ilvl Bloat and How To Stop It

Right. what is that change doing? The LFR item level never had an impact on the change in ilvl between tiers.

My gut tells me level 60 will be max for years to come.

While I don’t think we have a problem at all… I’d be OK with LFR being cosmetic only

I’m not coming at you man, I’m just saying I think both you and I would be better off with this change. It’s not like some ā€œscrew themā€ thing. I think they dont see how what they want negatively impacts them. E.g they dont see how their large power gain now forces a catchup system to be made later (there cant stay massive power gaps between the top adn bottom players between tiers) which feels really bad for them as they grinded to get where they are.

It also allows for casual gearing in the tier sorta like cypher gear. Thinking two birds with one stone sort of deal.

You need to get that gut checked. We’re going to 70.

So OP, where do I come in with a 260 and never stepped into the raid? And because I play casually, I’m way behind the curve. But the more keys I run, the more valor I will earn to push my ilvl even higher.

Work that into your theory and get back to me.

Oh i see your saying it allows you to upgrade the ilvl of lfr gear and select which slot its for, is that right?

Because M+ ilvl is based on Raid ilvl. If you shrink ilvl gains through raids it will also apply to M+.

Yes, sorta like Korthia tokens and Cypher gear.

lvl squish again and fishing skill back to zero I bet.
There is no fun to play if my many months of work goes back to zero.

Kinda like someone using a hammer on your car body everyday. Why fix it if they will just damage it again. Totally worthless

Why is it only LFR that goes to this system, why not apply it to all raid difficulties, we know the answer, you want to slow down LFR gearing, wings are only 3 bosses so you now have to do two wings to get a single piece, so slow it down to the point it is very inefficient, and as people stop doing it, now it can be removed, stop trying to act like you want things to be better for everyone.

Blizz needs to stop worrying about slowing down the tip of the spear. Reward/effort loops are designed with 100% optimal performance just to come close to community assumptions when QoL things are added.

Just look at how many sepulcher nerfs we’ve gotten. Or the restriction of sensible things requested in alpha/patch ptr, only to be added when HoF closes (essence vendor and specific conduit upgrading).

Righto sure i think itd be better kept as ā€œlfrā€ based though to allow players to have access to the raid tiers mog styles via LFR, but otherwise this sounds like a decent idea.

Because it can be the new casual upgradable gear system like Korthia Gear and Cypher Gear. Also having that system and gear obtainable outside of LFR badges as well. Sort of kill 2 birds with 1 stone sort of thing.

If you really want to stop ilvl bloat, stop bumping player level up each expansion.
Pick a number to make the level cap, and with each new expansion roll max level players and their gear back however many levels are intended to be in the expansion.

It’s not a fun way to go about it come the transition to a new expansion but it solves the problem without having to remove things other players enjoy, or at least partake of as part of their usual gameplay experience assuming the legacy buff for past expansion content is increased to account for the limited climb in player levels.

disagree I think he wants to help lfr players by allowing them to 1. select the slot their gear is for and 2. allow those items to be boosted to fillout their bad normal raid/other casual player gear slots more targetedly. This would far more help casual players than any heroic/mythic raider.

Your number in fishing got reset regardless of squish. It was for people who had a meltdown on being able to grasp skill numbers in summation. And somehow wanted people to waste time leveling things per expansion (bigger gold sink in the end).

So 6 bosses equals 1 piece of gear under your system. Where as now, depending on RNG, you could get up to 6 pieces of gear, 1 per boss. All you are doing is trying to slow down the gearing for LFR. If you aren’t, then make the system for all raid difficulties, put everyone on the same level.

4 bosses = 1 piece of gear. And ideally the badge gear is also obtained through open world activities like cypher/korthia gear but not as deterministic.

Also you could kill 6 bosses in LFR and get 6 pieces of gear that aren’t upgrades. With badges you can buy the specific pieces of gear you need.

Dude be reasonable, you can’t just assume 100% drop rate man. If you want to reasonably assess an idea you have to assume averages surely.
