The "I Am Being Forced" Mentality

No, it isn’t “being forced” even in a gaming sense.

This game has many different options. You can’t get a cloak rank to 15 without visions, you cant get exalted with reps without dailies/world quests, etc. HOWEVER this is how any game would work.

You have to complete tasks to achieve certain things. Guess what? It’s still a choice. You can play the game any way you want and you pay the same amount of sub money as everyone else.

You’re not being “forced” at all.

You’re not being forced ever. People just need to communicate more clearly like, “I min/max and this is going to really mess up my min/maxing in a way that makes this less enjoyable to play.”

Exactly. It’s fine for people to criticize the game and whatnot, but majority of the time they have perspectives that don’t consider anyone but themselves. And then they say they are “being forced” to do things.

Aye dios mio…

If you don’t have a choice it’s force

Talkin’ like the game hasn’t been in a steady (and occasionally rapid) state of decline since MoP, and is currently in the worst state it’s ever been in terms of player involvement and satisfaction.
You think it’s a coincidence the devs have just recently started implementing several changes trying to give the players what they want instead of pushing their “vision” with their fingers in their ears like they have for years now?

How exactly do you upgrade your cloak without any horrific visions? Enlighten us.

Oh, there is no other way? Then yes you are forced to run visions to upgrade your cloak.

Can you just not equip your cloak? Or leave it lowest level? Sure.

Can you run around on a rogue without an offhand? Sure.

Are either of those choices? … not good ones.

2/10. Got plenty of bites lol.

We’re not being “forced”, yet we have no choice but to accept it?

Thank you for bringing this clear, incisive logic to we who live in ignorance.

You do realize min/maxing isn’t something most people do just for fun right? It comes from a desire to be the best you can at your chosen role and it’s necessary if you want to push any sort of high level content like raids and mythic+. I’m fairly certain raids and mythic+ are the most popular forms of content now or ever so why shouldn’t people have a desire to min/max, and why should we assume we are the only ones with that motivation?

You choose to min/max. You choose to be the “very best.” Blizzard isn’t forcing you to be the “very best.”

I’m not forced to work but am certainly obligated to so I can actually do stuff I find fun, which costs money. Surely you can understand how to interpret hyperbole as an adult, right? I mean attempting to argue what you’re arguing is just plain dumb…

So your saying people shouldn’t do what they enjoy, they should play in such a way as to not contradict Blizz’s vision? Basically Blizz vision> player enjoyment? That is a great way to lose customers, maybe that’s why the game is floundering…

Yes, let’s talk in scientific terms and be absolutely literal about everything we ever express. Great solution if you want everybody to lack a personality I guess.

No. Try reading it again.

There’s nothing scientific about this. If you’re addiction to this game has gotten so strong that you feel forced to play even without joy, then you need to distance yourself from it.

Please then, tell me what your point is other than humans have free will.

My point is you should communicate more clearly and not just cry “i’m being forced!” with nothing to really go off of. What specifically are you disliking?

You mean like Blizzard making flying a problem when there wasn’t a problem beforehand. yep you are correct.

All that puffed up hoopla for just another whine thread whining about whiners.

It’s the behavior that results from the intersection of “I want it” and “I don’t wanna do the work”
