That’s because when flying isn’t available we cannot fly. You can still use your ground mount. The issue is crystal clear.
I don’t hate flying, just the people abusing it to kill rares and gather nodes that someone on the ground is clearly working through mob packs to get to. I’d rather never see flying in the game because of this.
I don’t have flying unlocked and have zero desire to grind out what’s necessary to unlock it either. I just don’t find that stuff fun.
The thing is thats what pathfinder is for, for those that wanna fly too fly. its not taking it away its allowing the game world to develop. You’d see that taken away.
You misunderstand the issue. They didn’t originally decide to add Pathfinder to the game, in WoD they REMOVED flying altogether. Only after an uproar did they compromise and add Pathfinder. They removed flying in WoD because the hated flying and what it had done to the game. They though it was about avoiding terrain, skipping mobs, and cheesing quests. Flying was never about that for me. And it wouldn’t be that for clear thinking people.
A thought experiment. Suppose you are at a pentagon meeting and someone proposes doing away with aerial surveillance. The argument put forward is it causes soldiers to not experience the terrain. How would that go over. Think it through again if you don’t get it first time.
Flying basically is firstly Fun. Secondly it allows you to experience another dimension of the terrain. It adds to your knowledge of the game world it does not take away knowledge or experience.
There are a group of developers who irrationally hate flying and they are in the leadership positions. Sadly, nothing will change here without change. So far, nothing has changed. And given my understanding of the nature of flying the hatred is hatred of fun and that will permeate every aspect of the game. Imagine if #nochanges was not a thing in Classic. How long would mage AoE last? A week maybe? No, classic is gloriously unbalanced and fun and as long as #nochanges holds we have 3 glorious expansions to play through and the second one will bring flying back as it should be.
The world developed just fine in BC, wrath, cata and MoP. Not wanting flying is just a selfish stance in general.
Forcing the world to become smaller and less epic is selfish too.
I’m not I just came back.
Wow wasn’t smaller or less epic during BC or wrath. Wow was still growing when flying was basically given to us right at max level. Try again.
Flying makes zones smaller, fact. You wanna turn this into some mobile instant gratification game, devs dont and plenty of others share this sentiment. Deal with Pathfinder, it works and its here to stay.
It’s not a fact. I’m not trying to turn this into a mobile game. You just conveniently ignore how successful the game was when we had flying at max level. If flying was so detrimental to the game then giving it to us right at max level would have tanked the game in BC or wrath.
If it wasn’t why bother to take it out in the first place?
Different devs. Since these devs took over wow has been less successful than it was in the past.
Thats not because of flying or a lack thereof. Legion was successful, WOD sucked because of content related things. People look back fondly on MOP now. Also you forget its an aging game in a market with hyper realistic graphics. People change, this games shortcomings are not because of flying.
For the record: Ghostcrawler didn’t like how flying ended up either.
Correlation isn’t causation.
By that logic, if we just reused the name Burning Crusade then the game should soar. Clearly people preferred that name since it was around when the game was most popular, right?
The fact remains that giving flying right at max level did not hurt the game then and wouldn’t hurt now. The only reason we don’t get flying at max level is because the devs hate flying and love boosting time played metrics.
I’m saying it didn’t hurt the game. If flying was as bad as the anti-flying crowd claims giving flying at max level would have tanked the game earlier.
The no flying going forward announcement in WoD did almost tank the game because that decision was reversed within 3 weeks. That’s how important flying is.
They were wise enough in the past to embrace it instead of turning it into sub ammunition.
Even those against it would unlock it simply by playing the game. The achievement doesn’t mean they’re using it. With that said, we both know they’re using it.
The fact remains the pathfinder hasn’t hurt the game in any meaningful way. It’s just a few salty people that can’t accept reality nor that their instant gratification buttons aren’t being pushed. Pathfinder is a compromise.
well congratulations you discovered something about businesses. They have to be successful to actually run, those servers you play on? Metrics.
