I see what you’re saying, but a ‘one shoe fits all’ situation isn’t the best resolution either.
Class identity for each race was present in the game since it’s inception, even in the smallest capacity. It gives the races a sense of individualism and builds upon their culture which makes the world feel more distinct.
I don’t think retaining a bit of racial identity within the story setting needs to acquiesce to every single persons RP identity of their character. That’s an entirely different thing and frankly a pretty unrealistic ask.
