Iirc they gave it up mostly out of principal. I mean, either way, these discussions hold little neaning. Blood elves are high elves, and they represent the future of that race just as sw humans and kuk tirans represent humans. If you want to experience that race, you go to the respective faction. Or…you roll a void elf.
