The harsh truth; the "Dracthyr" were a mistake for Warcraft

The OP has been obsessively making threads about Dracthyr since they released. And 99% of what he says are the same bad takes over and over. It’s basically angry spam at this point. I just roll my eyes.

I was hoping they were going to be like everquests “Iskar” race. But even after the 20th anniversary event they still cant be monks. It would have been so fun making a dracthyr monk with “tail swipe” and dragon claw style

People don’t like us because we remind them of Ja Ja Binks the way we look.

They where a horrible half baked race, that were unfinisehd and blizzard sold it to people as a feature.

“Oh you cant actually wear all your armor/transmog uhhhh well…you see…its a feature! Never mind that worgen get their transmog in and out of worgen form.”
And people ate it up.
“Oh ummmmwhy can they only be 1 class? well because uhhhh lore, yeah thats why they were all evokers everyone of them!”

It was jsut a half finished race, that they are currently trying to finish lol.

All they had to do is make a dragon model but smaller.

WoW made a mistake in MoP but adding Monks which ruined class design as a whole. It started the zoom zoom meta. Everyone now needed to move fast like Monks. Then casters needed to be Tanky. Then came DH which was another Class that completely doesn’t fit. They can fly, now others need to fly.

PS - Pandas are gross a silly april fools joke that somehow became a reality.

Game was better when there were Orcs and Humans, Taurens and Dwarfs. Real Class fantasy around less Classes so it worked.

If it’s not from 2004 it’s a mistake.

I like the Dracthyr, but I would argue that the MMO that did playable dragons the best is Istaria (formerly Horizons). It being the only MMO that has full on playable dragons. You start off as a hatchling, and grow as you gain levels and do quests.

I did like the Aerakyn in EQ2, though. They were basically dragon and elf hybrids.

Funny thing about the Au Ra? Though they are considered the dragon race, their designed was actually based on demons apparently. Concept art listed them as the dragon race, but apparently the devs decided to go back on that an base em off demons instead. Though the end result stayed the same, and in game the race has no ties to either.

I think they should’ve made the Drakkonids as the playable male “Dracthyr”, and the entirety of the the current Dracthyr character models as female “Dracthyr”.

At least that way people could’ve played as the big beefy dragon characters that we all wanted to begin with.

I don’t understand why they didn’t just go with Drakonids with colors and styles from each of the flights. something along the lines of the Draconians from DnD Dragonlance setting.

I don’t know if Dracthyr were a mistake but they are half baked.

No thanks. I like being able to be a male character that isn’t fridge shaped. I do not have any interest in ever playing a Drakonid, and would prefer my male Dracthyr stay the nice lean way he is now.

I would have no qualms about them adding Drakonid as a race for those that like it, though. Or adding even beefier options to Dracthyr as a choice. As long as I can keep what I have now, I support other options.

The JarJar Binks argument can’t be refuted.
It can’t be ignored.
It is there.
The model, the animations, the voice, the lore. All of it.

Dracthyr are my very, very favorite race. I totally love them.

It’s what got me back to WoW. I took a lengthy break partly due to real life and partly due to hating SL. Real life kept me away quite a while, but I did return last Spring and dived into Dracthyr. No regrets!

I’m 100% hooked. lol

No improvement needed. And I am anxiously awaiting the ability to roll a Dracthyr Warrior! jumps up and down (in my mind anyway, back says no jumping…) lol

Real “Old man yelling at clouds” energy here.

Yeh, when I saw the announcement for Dracthyr and dragonriding I actually felt excited for the expansion. After hating BfA and being disappointed by Shadowlands (which I was initially excited for), it would nice to see something I could concretely enjoy.

Dracthyr were basically everything I could have asked for in a WoW race outside actual playable dragons.

When I was younger, I used to read the DragonLance novels, and they had Draconians, and I really dug the concept. So when they announced Dracthyr I was like, that’s cool. I like them. I am looking forward to them being able to be other classes.
