Completely incorrect statement, I love world buffs, they make my warrior do absurd DPS and are a lot of fun.
Is the Chronoboon Displacer consumed when activated? You mentioned it “breaks apart” to release held buffs.
If not does it have a maximum amount of uses or just the 1h hour cooldown?
Just wondering as you said you can buy as many as your heart desires from Chromie!!
Could you theoretically hold different world buffs in different displacers or would releasing buffs with 1 displacer cause the one hour timer?
The thing I am thinking is that people will still want to maximize the time on the buffs and one of the biggest time wasters is the time between buffs. What you might see people doing to try and get exactly 2 hours on every buff is having 5 displacers in their bag. 1 for DMF, 1 for Tribute, 1 for ZG, 1 for Dragonslayer, and 1 for Songflower. Then 5 hours before raid they’d have to start buffing but activating a buff and immediately logging out. Then after 1 hour has passed they release the next buff, and so on and so forth.
I understand the 1 hour timer to prevent people from saving buffs for bosses and not having them for trash however I think it might create this scenario I mentioned to be 100% optimal.
I will say, however, without heroic and/or mythic types of dungeons and raids, for Classic, I feel like this item only encourages wb meta instead of dissolving it.
im honestly happy to see this. I have played Classic off and on but after watching some of hte min maxing behavior, the raid logging, etc for bosses that are literally not even a challenge to most guilds just kinda destroyed my desire to raid.
I didt his all before in vanilla, i was hoping to hop in have some casual fun… play the game for waht it is and not be insane about meta and buff stacking for trivial content.
I know the purists are probably screaming right now but seriously this will make the game more in line with how it really was too. Most people were not in guilds that were min max stacking world buffs. Did it happen yes was it everyone or even most ppl? no.
#nochanges = #eventual ending
Adding, updating, modernizing without removing the soul will be good for the game long term. Just because you feel wow was better then than it is now, doesn’t mean the game didnt have flaws we could easily address now with our knowledge and better technology.
It wont fix the abuse of world buffs, but it will give more raiders the options to actually play their toons without fear of losing their buffs. plus this also negates butt heads who want to just purge it off of you. Now you can wait till you are in the raid instance to use it. Anyone who cries about not being able to harass ppl please give me your tears…
Saphiron is still a very difficult fight without the world buff crutch as horde despite clearing it everyweek, it’s commonplace to rebuff Zandalar/Heart + SF just for saph
I am completely at a loss. Why on earth would you feel compelled to take any action on world buffs at all. It’s a sick meta that the players have forced upon themselves. Who cares? Let the ones who created the meta live with the downside of it. World buffs were fine in Vanilla, they were fine in Classic.
Seems Blizz just can’t keep their hands off a beautiful game. You are always trying to direct play so it will be ‘more fun’ to some vaguely defined population of malcontents who have turned play into work. Stay out of it please!
I believe this change should be made after the Classic Era servers are live and only if you see the save behavior. I think it is best to wait and see if it’s something that the audience that will stay with Classic Era servers would like to have before committing the changes. Same with spell batching. It will be a huge disappointment if the target audience these changes are made for leave Classic Era and just stay in TBC.
You can trade/sell/AH the Chronoboon Displacer that does not have the buffs, yes. The item is consumed on use.
Once you use it to save your buffs it turns into a unique & soulbound item called the Supercharged Chronoboon Displacer. You cannot store buffs again while you have some being stored, so what you’re stating is correct aside from the fact you would need four different Chronoboon Displacers to do that, all with an hour wait time between being able to use them.
The cooldowns with the items has been wonky and I have had it become reduced by half an hour on the Chronoboon Displacer upon relogging. I also experienced a bug that involved the cooldown on the Chronoboon Displacer activating when I used the Supercharged Chronoboon Displacer, but I can’t tell if this is intentional due to the fact it went off cooldown when I relogged.
So, could I, say, get DMT, store it, play for an hour, get songflower, release DMT, store DMT+SF immediately, play for another hour, get heart+Ony+Rend, release DMT+SF, then store them all immediately?
I mean, I probably won’t do all of that because I’m bad at making money and 30g more than I already spend per raid is probably too much for me, but I still want to know if it’s possible.
Hi Pazorax, Hope you’re having a good day.
I was wondering if buffs like “Echoes of Lordaeron” would also be snap-shottable ? Or since it is more of a aura it would not be?
Thank you.
dude stop. get rid of world buffs altogether. there does not need to be snapshotted world buffs, get rid of them. i will not play classic again as long as they exist. its not fun gameplay.
Just because TBC is out doesn’t mean you have to stop farming Naxx. Your guild needs a taxi to Karazhan!
Problem is those people have corrupted the game and the masses by turning world buffs into something that was never done in actual vanilla and trying to justify it just by it existing. That sort of toxic cancer goes against the spirit of the game, an since people have proven time and time again they will not just change their ways, they have to be forced to change.
So many blue replies in one thread…that’s how I know this is a joke. Never this many replies on real issues, that’s the real joke.
…So find a raiding guild that doesn’t require them? It’s not hard. There’s dozens of them on my server that explicitly state wbuffs are not required.
“noooo you can’t play the game in ways I don’t approve of! that’s AGAINST THE SPIRIT OF THE GAME!!!”
lol
This keeps getting asked.
I see no reason why you couldn’t get ony, store it, unleash it right before getting zg, then store both, etc. etc. for the rest of the buffs.
You’ll just be using 6? of the displacers each time you want to do this. And we don’t currently know the cost of the item.
Right now they are 10g a piece on the PTR. Not sure that price will hold if released (Even though it is on the PTR, it could still be an elaborate April Fools Joke).
Frankly, I don’t think the item was thought out as well as it could have been. I’d gladly collect my world buffs each day to create an item that can be used multiple times for a day to rebuff after a death or wipe in a raid. I think it should only restore the buffs inside a raid instance and not for PvP.
April Fools or not. It’s not just about getting rid of World Buffs in TBC to make it more “authentic”. That does nothing. We need a full re-tune of dungeons and raids a like to accommodate power creep in the later patches. It’s not as easy as “return boss numbers to pre nerf”.
It won’t be like World Buffs, but power creep will make things far less time consuming/easier if you want to call it that, than they were. I know you want things to be super accessible like Retail, but at least give TBC some dignity - something Classic Vanilla never got.
This is actually pretty cool. Wish y’all did this earlier
