You do realize that people who are interested in playing were also trying to reserve names thus it being weeks before is irrelevant? You also realize people who plan on never playing were attempting to lock down names?

Wow’s Glory days are well and truly gone, Blizzard might be able to sell boxes but they will never be able to retain the players no matter how good the expansion is.
Retail WoW needs a hard reset of some kind if they want lofty numbers ever again. If not they will bleed players like they have the last 9 years. WoW is almost old enough to drive, its an understatement how great of achievement it is that large amounts of people still play it.

There was a thread a few days ago for people who reserved names (to tick people off most likely) that never intend to play at all. OP using “lots of people reserving names” to equal Classic is going to overtake retail is WAY premature.

Retail will be fine.
Classic hype will die down in a couple weeks when people have to run back and forth across the barrens.

Inside of 3 months classic collapses in a giant heap. Retail is just fine.
Once people get a good taste of classic they won’t stay long.

This is a high level cope right here. Why exactly are General Discussion posters so against the idea of Classic doing well? I remember years ago before Classic was announced, any suggestion that Blizzard should make Vanilla servers was met with extreme hostility. Why do you guys feel such an intense negativity towards and older iteration of the game? It’s baffling

I’d be shocked if Classic didn’t have more players than retail for a few weeks, but it will all come collapsing down after a few months as many realize why no one talks about Vanilla’s amazing end game.

I’m going in to experience the content with fresh eyes. Didn’t play Vanilla or BC so hopefully we get to play both and then maybe Wrath. At that point if they still don’t have it together in Retail then I’d consider my WoW experience to have come full circle and walk away for good.

Vanilla’s endgame was enough to capture 7 million subscribers back in 2006. It clearly has a decent endgame.
Jeez now it’s gonna be 8 months before people realize how terrible Classic is and quit altogether. This projected honeymoon period keeps getting longer and longer with you guys.

Eventually, classic will stagnate. You can only run AQ40 so many times before it becomes redundant. People will leave, the casuals first, 'cause they can no longer progress their characters. The extreme hard core players will stay, but they are a minority.
Retail will live on. There will always be progression, always new things to do in retail.
