The Future of Classic

I’m a tbc baby and idk why you fighting that strawman but the game wasn’t harder the players was just worst, we didn’t had the tools and knowledge we have today, trying to deny that is just dishonest and/or a bad case of pink glasses.

I wasn’t saying one is better or worst, I don’t really agree with you but I believe this be a matter of taste so it’s subjective and of for you wotl was the best and nothing ever came close I can only say good for you and I hope you are enjoying the xpac all over again

Vanilla wow had a RDF system that would actually put group members into a party with you. Despite how often the “no changes” crowd insists that it wasn’t it was. I used it often and remember it and the blue post about it even still exists.

All the people who are saying vanilla is better … well their not really playing vanilla and even if they are (in their mind) I don’t know why a cata server would matter to them at all.

Cata will be a thing, saying it sucks doesn’t help anything and makes people look at you as a toxic person / cry baby. You don’t want cata? Perfect you don’t have to play it, absolutely no one will ever force you to.

It’s best to simply ignore the trash. They live off the attention.

Tell me you have never played passed WOTLK in one message.

Cataclysm’s first raid tier and dungeons are harder than anything that has been available in WOTLK.

I don’t know why people think the stuff gets easier in WOW… there are still people who believe Ulduar is hard, when it’s not even mythic raiding caliber. Maybe, just maybe it’s the gear inflation that makes it look that way, but still… there are like 10x more mechanics per boss and a lot less forgiving in any mythic raids.

And I quit retail after Castle Nathria, so It’s not because I still play it, but I’m lucid.

Not saying it’s the best, or that there haven’t been improvements made.

But the point remains. While I find retail challenging, I don’t enjoy it near as much as classic.

Retail is very polished, but it feels like an MMO simulator. “Press here for RAID. Press here for DUNGEON. Press here for PVP.” But there’s no real world or community connecting any of it. It all feels almost procedurally generated, up to and including the players.

It work.

Hell, It worked for games workshop lol. They basically ripped out bows from the elves and gave them…guns.

And even the bad guys get to keep the same old chaos gods. Grandfather Nurgle has been giving his “blessings” for quite a long time lol.

Or Khaine in the case of dark elves now dark eldar/drukhari.

Now the only thing lost was dwarves. Which WH40k had looooooong ago. At some point the they pulled the space dwarf line. I’d not recall what those reasons were.

Warcraft was supposed to be Warhammer originally anyway. Might as well rip off that too.

People are looking at pieces and not the whole game. With every expansion wow has increasingly tried to be something for every player no matter their time or ability. It started with regular and heroic dungeons and continued with lfr which wasn’t just a group finder like rdf but an easier version of the raids. Now with modern retail there is nothing in vanilla that’s as easy as the easy parts of modern wow. And there is nothing in vanilla that’s as hard as the hardest parts of modern wow.

Lol, you reported me. Typical gen Z crybaby.

Of course you won’t. You can’t handle words and go off tattling to Blizzard like a toddler    Thanks for proving my point  Bet you can’t come up with a single example.

Oh I love those stories too. I wasn’t referring to that though. I was referring to Blizzard selling out to stupid social trends and putting in ridiculous allegories. It’s such on the nose trash that no one asked for. It has no place in Azeroth.

Lol yeah. I’d just like to see an upgrade.  Only wishful thinking on my part, but the main reason I made this thread is because I’m hoping to see our specs and classes still functional in Cata. Based on what I remember, Cata only increased the cookie cutter effect, and forced players to use specific specs for PvP. I’m a Fire Mage, Fury Warrior, Survival Hunter, and Combat Rogue - which all work right now in Wrath. By Cata, fire mage is stripped of nearly all its defenses and loses a HUGE chunk of burst firepower. We’re turned into a number generator that can’t fight. I don’t want that.

Players need options, and I feel every spec should have viability in PvP.

PS: Sorry for the delayed response. My ability to speak was put on hold because of a certain whiney person (Looking at you, Bearhands) Gotta love people who can’t hand words.

Generally I’m not referring to boring endgame content. I’m more focused on the leveling process because that’s where most of the fun is. Endgame kinda sucks. No more adventures, just a mindless, repetitive grind. Personally I was always more into World PvP at endgame. Basically get gear as fast as I can and start wrecking Horde with my brother. I’d rather see the adventure continue.

That being said, the focus of this thread is using the current talent trees and overall balance going forward, with additional spells and talents being added, instead of taken away or recycled . These talents need to stay, because Cata crippled several specs in PvP, including Fire Mage, which I thoroughly enjoy. I feel every spec should have a use in any aspect of the game.

Looms were added in Wrath though…

Me and thousands of others have asked for this. Blizzard know that is what the majority wants. They wont give. If they go down the same path as before then Im unsubbing right then and there. Ive done about everything that I want to do in retail. All it is now is recycling the same old raid bosses over and over again. Wouldn’t be surprised at all if we dont have to kill Death wing and Maly again this epxac.

It’s cliche and predicable like always. Black dragonflight is bad, blue dragonflight is crazy, green are super kind and will help us in the end of DF, then the bronze flight will come and fix everything. You know exactly what is going to happen months before it even launches.

Did I? I honestly don’t remember. But also, even IF I did, it would have taken a lot more than just me.

An example of what? I honestly don’t remember what you’re talking about anymore. Some nonsense “Blizzard is too woke” something something kinda thing?

Yes we all know that…Clearly I mean that heirlooms were a contributing factor in the oversimplification of the game - which in turn dilutes the journey to endgame.

Endgame itself ceases to be an adventure and more of a braindead grind. It’s really not that fun in any expansion. The game would be a lot better if we had more stories and secrets to unlock through endgame questing, instead of just raiding all the time.

I guess that’s why they brought back the talent trees in Retail recently, right? It had nothing to do with virtually EVERYBODY complaining about this problem since Cata.

Specs got ruined by these changes, and the crappy scaling. Take for example fire mage: Through a number of lost talent and poor scaling, we lost all our burst power and nearly all our defenses. Useless in PvP compared to Wrath. They did this to us and a number of specs on purpose because it meant they’d only have to balance one spec for each aspect of the game - which is LAZY, and cheapens the game experience.

Specs are a form of self expression and fighting style. Each one should have the potential to succeed in all areas of the game. Period. Wrath was closer to that goal that Cata, so it should stay.

As for the talents being cut down: The vast majority HATED these changes. Hated the oversimplification of talents, and Hated being forced into a spec based on which aspect of the game you want to play. I don’t want to be a frost mage, or an arms warrior, or a BM hunter, to PvP. I’m a fire mage, fury warrior, and survival hunter. Speaking of which, Survival Hunters lose our melee skills in Cata. That’s just garbage.

All I’m saying is, keep the current talents, abilities, and scaling, then add the new stuff instead of removing our powers, only to recycle them with crummier alternatives later. The whole point of leveling is to ADD abilities, and strengthen others - not take some lazy shortcut.

Not really. It only takes one snowflake. You embarrass yourself.

I’m saying they got political, like every other big company out to cash in on wokeness. We come to Azeroth for an escape from all that garbage. Just let us have a fantasy adventure game…

Except that the people I assume you’re referring to aren’t a social trend; multiple civilizations older than the ones currently holding any power in the world have their own variations on trans people, gay people have existed for so long slang for them existing was a perk name in Fallout New Vegas (Confirmed Bachelor) and guess what, people of non-white races do exist and would probably enjoy being able to make characters that reflect them instead of everyone looking like a low-poly Nathan Drake.

Just because they’re extremely squeaky wheels doesn’t mean they’re the majority.

What adventure existed at 60 in Vanilla compared to 80 in Wrath?

To paraphrase the last Jack Saint video, all art is political if only because it reflects the society it was created in. The only reason you’re complaining about it is because it’s not the political views YOU want.

That’s absolutely not how any of this works. Keep digging though buddy.

You’re not very smart. But then I suppose we established that like 100 posts ago

Obviously, but it’s important to note that there’s a social and biological side for why these variations exist, and that they operate on a spectrum. By that I mean some people are more socially converted than naturally born this way.

Historically speaking, most organized civilizations opposed these primitive behaviors. We lacked the scientific ability to isolate the genetic and neurological issues that cause these deviations, so we were only capable of dealing with them on a cultural level. We’ve actually been trying to course correct human nature for as long as we’ve existed. Intelligent people realized that some behaviors are not good for organized civilizations. In other words, we opposed these ideologies to survive.

I’m not saying to hate people, but I’m not a proponent of promoting their lifestyle either. Especially not to children who play this game.

As for the scientific remedy; it’s coming in the next 50 years, so lets just focus on advancing human civilization.

Not sure where the race part came in, because I never said anything about that. I’m guessing you’ve gotten into the bad habit of viewing people through an intersectional lens. If you must know, I’m thrilled about the racial diversity added to humans. Racial differences are climate-based genetic modifications, not unhealthy ideologies or anomalous behaviors.

Yes, but not all political views are healthy, and none are above criticism.

Sounds kinda like eugenics based on everything else, tbh.

No, eugenics is selective breeding. That wouldn’t work. No matter who you select to breed with whom, people could still have disabilities. Genetic modification and intervention is what’s required, as well as a better understanding of the human brain and body. We need to understand the causes before we can effectively come up with solutions.

Take for example gender dysphoria: We don’t know exactly what causes it, and we don’t even know how to diagnose it with any certainty. Basically psychologists are guessing. Which is why it’s reckless to make gender assessments in young children. The brain goes through multiple changes as you grow up, so the diagnosis can literally change like night and day depending which stage of development a person is at.

It’s no wonder there’s a ton of lawsuits going on in the UK by women who were exploited when they were younger by gender clinics. It’s basically turned out to be a massive cash grab. It’s a billion dollar industry, so no surprises that greed would end up being the primary motivation behind gender quackery.

We’re basically living in the dark ages, and people in the future will laugh at us and our ridiculous views on this.
