Sure, try to fix the balancing a bit, but keep the current spells and talents, along with any new spell editions that come along the way in new expansions. I just don’t want to see the talent trees ruined like they were last time around.
Whether they want it to or not, Classic Cata will split their market.
There are a lot of players to whom the charm of old Azeroth is important. Those players probably won’t continue.
There’s nothing intrinsically wrong with doing a Cata Classic, it’s just that the further they move away from Vanilla the narrower their market slice for Classic is. It’s essentially just a little less classic. The restructure of Azeroth represents a hard break to some players. Maybe many.
I think they will do a Cata Classic, I don’t think it will do well due to attrition. I think there is good evidence that there maybe a bit of a move back to Classic era from some sections of the community.
The problem with Classic+ is that it requires more Blizzard investment: more developers, more time to plan and design, more money to set up and maintain. I don’t see it happening as much as I would like it. Let’s be honest, this mob can’t even roll out a buff properly.
Blood worms is gone from the blood tree, as is the insta crit howling blast ability from the frost tree. Unbreakable armor is gone from the frost tree as well but I think that becomes baseline for DK’s in cata, not sure.
I’m not saying the cata tree’s aren’t better in that they cut out a lot of “increase by X%” talents, but they did remove things from the trees beyond those.
Cata and MoP pvp was really fun.
A lot of people say Cata with flying mounts killed wpvp but the world revamp, Orgrimmar and SW being the capitals and the new zones being in the old continents made the world actually way more alive than wrath and tbc.
It made For the Horde and For the Alliance more accesible, ganking faction cities.
Also have really good memories doing cata dungeons and raids, except DS, the last raid was kinda boring.
As for MoP PvE I’ve never been a high pve raider there so can’t tell. But classes were really fun.
ya im willing to try that. i started my wow trial years abt 2012/13 or so but i quit bc i was confused lol. it seemed very nice though to play thru, heard locks were very fun too.
The road is probably ending here, and it would be for the best. You got to relive the 3 best versions of the game. Cataclysm is perhaps the worst, and definitely where the expansion should have been its own separate game, not a forced patch on wrath. If they rehost, it better be with new realms, not a patch.
I used the word “perhaps” for a reason. Cataclysm is actually when I quit and never went back. Hard to imagine anything after it being worse than that. But this is all subjective anyway. You can pick whatever you want for the title.
Then go play retail, your demographic is what killed classic era.
The people who got Blizzard to even do classic was the hardcore private server vanilla playerbase, we don’t want your demographics on classic era and turn into a garbage retail timewalking simulator.
legit kick rocks and play retail if you want those features, we don’t want them in classic, we don’t even want that heroic +crap in wrath…
Okay sure. I main a fire mage so I’ll give you the breakdown of what we’re losing here just in talents alone.
Burning Determination, gone.
Fiery Payback, gone.
Molten shields no longer has a spell reflect chance.
Burnout, gone. Truckloads of damage GONE!
Blast Wave no longer knocks people back. Seriously? That’s the whole point of the spell
Upgrades like being able to Scorch while moving are always welcome further down the chain as you level, as are the Flame Orb and Living Bomb related talents. It’s expected that spells will gain in strength as you advance, but there’s no need to ruin the spec by removing the rest. Especially ones that are majorly important to damage like Burnout. Or excellent protection like Fiery Payback, Burning Determination and Blast Wave, which were critical to our defense. Fire Mage went from being devastating to complete trash because of this.
I never played cookie cutter specs and I wrecked those fools. You’ll always find a large share of players are clueless when it comes to specs, and that they just rip off whatever’s trending. It’s possible to beat those odds with originality. Though I admit that got really hard in Cata thanks to what they did to many of the talent trees out there. No spec should ever be “the PvP” spec. All should have that potential.
Devs got rid of the talents because they were lazy. Period.
PS: How’d you show your Classic face here? I can’t even change mine right now, let alone use the Classic one. I’d rather use my Classic face here.
I didn’t, and I did just fine. What they did in Cata with the talents made the cookie cutter issue even WORSE, because they trashed the ability of some specs to properly defend themselves. I have no intention of having my spec neutered again by these lazy talent cuts.
You can click on the forum avatar at the top right and click “Change Character” at the bottom of that list. Then you should be able to select whatever character you want to use to post on.
Thanks, Mootwo! I figured it out. I just wasn’t used to the changed interface. Been a while since I posted. I’ll use my classic model once I get this set in Classic
umm, first we need to have the other draenor to get the good yrel to then get the other other dreanor to get the bad yrel in a self collapsing alternate dimension draenor.
We can’t have bad BFA yrel for shock and awe without the good WoD one. Bad Yrel got horde mag’har orcs you see.
Classic people are going what did he jsut write. ask blizzard. they doubled up on alternate timeline and dimension draenors. Its a thing they do.
Its not a retcon if you place things in alternate dimensions that will collaspe or something.
Ok 1 I would kind of Say Man dejavu Because this is exactly what happened at the end of wrath Originally And guess what At beginning gearing.
In cata You’re not going to be able to do that Especially for heroics you do have to use your brain Now is it cc Everything you can Where are you basically need a mage.
Just about or with a certain comp you cannot clear certain heroics no But most people have interrupted On top of that I’ll say i’m kind of looking forward to see what happens with cata.
I think there could be some changes The top of my list would be Let us do with whatever we want with our 41 Points If they really want to shake things up it would be cool at sea. What would happen if they gave us 51 But I think that would be a little bit too insane.
Now will they do a classic plus Maybe Only time will tell But i’m actually looking forward to cata.
I don’t follow guides at all, either. I personally prefer the talent trees. Ghostcrawler did cite the cookie cutter spec as the primary reason why they got rid of the talent trees. Players now are still looking up their “BiS” guide for everything, including leveling.
As far as spells and abilities disappearing, I believe this happens periodically in order to keep the game fresh. WotLK Ret was my favorite iteration of the class/spec. Unfortunately, the WotLK Classic isn’t playable for me.
