The future of Blizzard Entertainment?

Blizzard Entertainment has been a big part of my life for well over 20 years. I have played and collected most of the games they made. It saddens and disgusts me to see things going on in the news with Blizzard.

Blizzard is accused of:
sexual harassment,
sexual discrimination,
racial discrimination,
discrimination in pay, assignment, promotion
Sexual discrimination based on levels of role etc.
and much more.

If you would like to read it all go to https://aboutblaw.com/YJw

But for now, I will attempt to get back to the main reason for this topic being opened, Blizzard has been around for many years, they have always been a ‘boys club’ back in the day gaming was more or less a ‘boys club’ so Blizzard acted accordingly …

IF they wanna have a beer-drinking contest on the weekends or act like they are in a Fraternity in college, more power to them but in the business world of 2021 you have to act responsibly. I don’t care who it is, how long they have been with the company, or what they do if someone is accused of something like this

  1. Suspend without payment till the investigation is complete

  2. Found guilty? FIRED and FILE charges with the police

  3. Found innocent? returned to work with pay for a time suspended.
Simple as that this goes for ANYONE no matter the position if they are your friend or anything else…

Blizzard fans are loyal but not stupid.

Speaking as a Blizzard fan who has played

Warcraft (all of them)
Diablo (all of them)
World of warcraft (since days after the release of vanilla to current day)
Hearthstone
Heros of the Storm
Starcraft
Overwatch

I am very disturbed to think that a company I have supported >MAY< have been part of these types of actions, I say MAY have been because at this point there is still major doubt, so will I leave Blizzard in the dust at this point? NOPE, will I wait, watch and see the outcome of this court case, and then we will see what happens.

IF I see that they are innocent I will move forward, a fan dedicated as always and play the games as I always have.

IF I see they are found guilty I will cut ties, delete all games, all accounts, and never again will I support them. now before you bring out your weapons ready to attack, let me make 2 things clear.

  1. I hope they are innocent - I really do because again they are a huge part of my history.
  2. I do not believe in supporting people who belittle or berate the worth of women in any way or for any reason.

To Blizzard Entertainment: GOOD LUCK in proving your innocence

Yet in all your list I can’t find an actual crime the company was convicted of…curious

Because it’s a currently ongoing civil suit and not a criminal case?

Exactly! ,.

That doesn’t negate OP’s post. You can be found guilty of misconduct if not a crime.

Oh I recognize you from a previous topic , men should be scared was it? I have to commend you, that was quality. Simple, crude yet effective. I’m looking for more from you in the future, big fan.

The future of Blizzard Entertainment…

…is very likely not to be terribly affected out of all this.

Blizzard will be fine.

Is it the Blizzard we used to love? Nope, hasn’t been for years.

But is Blizzard being bankrupted as a result of this?

Hardly.

I’m not currently offering autographs at this time.

Never has been. A lot of the guys either responsible for or complicit in what’s been brought up in this suit are people who are or were a part of that “original Blizzard.”

Oh so OP , if they’re found guilty , you will boycott a company , then what ? Hang up your fake armor ? Workplace harassment wont be gone and will still happen all around the world … You gonna boycott every single possible companies for the act of the people that work there , giving them less revenues thus firing people that may actually need that job because the ceo still wants his bonus ?

Edit: The right thing to do is simply to treat other with respect and intervene when you see situations like harassment . Boycotting wont change a thing .

You say “never has been” but then I imagine you’ve been playing their games for years.

Just because an ideal you thought you were supporting isn’t the ideal that was actually being practiced, doesn’t mean you never had that ideal. And it doesn’t mean that Blizzard never had that ideal.

The road to hell is paved with the best intentions.

The right thing to do is both / what’s best for the individual. If wow is so tainted for you personally, then quit. But if you want to stay, prepare to do the work to help improve the community.

Both options have their benefits and drawbacks. there isn’t one right choice over the other. One hand shows the shareholders that this is important. They other shows support for all the minority creators.

No boycotting wont help solve workplace harassment . Blizzard could shut down tmr because of it and it wouldnt solve the issue . Boycott is for fake knights …

Blizz already went through a restructuring process so it remains to be seen wither they fulfill the states requirement .From there it’s a guess.

Fake knights?

so you would rather support them?
Give them your money? and allow them to continue to do these things?

I am not saying they are guilty again

I HOPE THEY ARE NOT

but I have to look at options of what needs done if they are guilty.

so let me ask all of you

IF they are guilty what will you do?

States Requirements?

The mitigation part if the state find they did admen to what need fixed in their company .Then they would come to a settlement. if not that is another matter.

Nothing is going to happen. People are still going to play the game, I’m still going to play the game. What has happened is terrible, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to quit WoW for it. The game itself did nothing wrong. A majority of the people who work on the game did nothing wrong.

This stuff will sort itself out and perhaps some key figures may be gone in the future, that matters very little to the game itself, it’s not going anywhere. They aren’t just going to shut the doors to everything over a lawsuit.

Got ya, if they did it then they should settle if not they need to prove they didnt and move on
