The forgotten "bad end" I'd like to see in the Time Rifts

So, I was looking over the different timelines, hoping to see my favorite ending play out. Unfortunately, it never does.

I think it’s because this threat wasn’t a major one like Arthas or N’zoth, but we forgot one of the OTHER global threats that popped up in BFA: King Mechagon and his global mechanization device. We were literally hours away from a doomsday scenario in Operation: Mechagon, one which could be triggered with the push of a switch, and a timeline which could have very easily played out.

Mecharoth is what I’d call it, and it would be King Mechagon’s vision of a perfect Azeroth, clean of flesh. All mobs would be mechanical variations inspired by Mechagon Island, zones would be trashed with new gnomish facilities, even the dragonflights would have become mechanical steamscale dragons. By this point we’d be able to see all kinds of crazy combos: The Mecha-Scourge, the Robo-Primalists, and possibly even the introduction of Mecha’thuun into the actual game. Alongside the dystopian design, in place of Black Empire banners and insignias would be giant screens everywhere, where King Mechagon is constantly barking orders and enforcing total control over the planet.

Just a thought, there are lots of good ideas in BFA that simply need explored in inconsequential playgrounds like this.

There IS a time Rift where Mechagon won. It unfortunately doesn’t have what you’re asking for.

It’s just a shame that a villain as cool and deranged as Mechagon keeps getting brushed under the rug or treated like a throwaway villain.

King Mechagon is the new Millhouse Manastorm because any villainous gnome character in WoW is designated comic relief

Millhouse was never a villain, he’s one of Azeroth’s greatest defenders. His villainy in Cataclysm was all a front to undermine the Twilight Cult from within.

King Mechagon is a reference to another character, Dr. Nefarious from the Ratchet and Clank games. He even has the same voice actor and goal, to turn all organic lifeforms into robots.

I think he’s fun though, definitely the best gnome character we’ve seen.

Moguroth where The Thunder King defeated the forces of Azeroth at Thunder Isle. That’s what I’d like to see.

I’d also love to see a “Golden Azeroth” where the Loa overpower the titans. Basically what Hakkar’s vision of Azeroth would be.
