The flaws of Covenants have already been exposed

It’s not even really a grievance, more like a, “wow, yall are nuts lol.” People already have issues not finding groups, adding something like this that more or less requires at least one person of a certain covenant only adds to the problem.

In a perfect world where it’s an even 4 way split of the population, it might not be an issue but we already know that’s not going to be the case.

I meant like buffs wise. I know its locked to the covenant.

So you think all healers should have a battle rez? That’s what true balance would look like in your ideal “no meta” world.

But it doesn’t in time it will go away . Be it during SL or when the 10.0 prepatch comes. The only things that significantly and lastingly affect game play are the characters we create and the classes we choose .

You’re not wrong in this, but you are wrong in thinking that the Covenant lock will achieve this.

Believe it or not, many of us are on your side. It’s just the thing you think will happen is actually going to be the opposite.

I agree, adding these buffs to the dungeons is only going to confuse the issue of balance. As in, they don’t need to bother balancing as long as certain covenants are required for specific dungeons.

Anything to help MW out for Shadowlands pls

This problem will become more mangified when BlizZard settles on damage tuning a few weeks.

Right now Bone Spike for Rogues is literally better than most of the Rogue class tool kit. No joke. :+1:

I don’t think all healers should have a brez, every class should bring something different to the table. What I want is for the quest for perfect balance to stop and the meta to be less defined. Players should be allowed to be creative with their spec/class/cov’s and not be punished by the community for it.

I absolutely agree with this, creativity should be king. Making us pick a covenant at level cap with extremely limited testing doesn’t leave much wiggle room for creativity.

The only way we’re going to find out is to just do it and see what happens.

Or they could just work more on the rest of the expansion without troubling themselves with this kind of systems that they will probably have to keep tuning and rework after release if they go throught with it. I’d prefer a new dungeon each patch.

They removed the premade characters on beta before all of Rogue legendaries, conduits and soul binds have been put in place.

No way to test anything.

This testing cycle is being rushed. The fact that the PTR prepatch is ongoing for testing while Rogues are still missing two talents is very alarming. Lots of BFA vibes with systemlands. :+1:

Sorry but I am not for swapping covenants at the start of Shadowlands.

I am tired of every class/spec feeling identical based on min-maxing for end game content by spreadsheet fanatics.

I fully agree with your statement here. I do not want my MW to play like my resto druid. Let people experiment and find out what they like.
I want to see the power decoupled from the covenants themselves, personally, so that I have that freedom to experiment and find out what works best while remaining loyal to a faction and working on their rewards. I want to be able to figure out weird interactions that I’ll probably never use in day to day play, or run an “off build” just to try it. But these hard locks and time gated systems prevent me from doing that. I can’t just try out the venthyr ability in a 10 because it sounds cool, then go back to nightfae. The meta will become rigid because no one will be able to easily change.

I dont believe locking covenants will fix this. Without the ability to experiment and with limited ability to swap, a majority of the player base will just do what the guides tell them is the strongest option. It will just be more of the same.

You’re free to pick different talents or to not change covenant. What other people do is their choice. There’s clearly already tons of terrible covenant abilities, covenants will still get spreadsheets. That’s the first thing that a lot of people will ask “What’s my best covenant?” xd Already in the beta people are like that, asking on trade channel or in dungeons.

You really think that locking covenants will prevent people from being not picked for activities.

Reality :ballot_box_with_check: people have been not including people for certain activities since the elementary school play ground. I know it sucks and isn’t really fair but to be honest life to isn’t fair.

Another thing is some of us filthy casuals like me like the look of certain covenants but because some of us do different forms of content we like say one ability (covenant class) for say pve and another one for pvp .

We should be able to do both on the same toon on the same day and be able to queue for both at the same time and be able to pick the proper one once the queue pops .

They think they can fight the meta by taking away player agency. That is adorable. :100:

I doubt it. The system is already transparent enough to choice the covenant you will need to be the best min-maxer ever…
