- Blizzard said its going to be evergreen and have an entire team dedicated for housing
2-4 yes - This is going to happen regardless of what we say. Every mmo with player housing has deco housing items on the store along with ones you can make/earn in game
The one thing im worred about is blizz making it obsolete or abandoned after the xpac is over like everything else in the game.
I like SWTOR style hooks. Free placement is fine, too. But the hook system is also fine.
This isn’t necessary.
If you can view the outside of the house, it is. Folks are going to want to be able to “fly up” to their house and get screen shots of it sitting up there on the rise with it’s pink roof and blue shutters.
The trick is to make it instanced, but with a finer granularity than what we had with either the Farm or the Garrison. Should be no problem with being able to see another player ride by my house, even if the other player can’t see the house, or sees their house, or whatever. If they want to see my house, I’ll group with them (like with Garrisons).
When it comes to the player housing, the world I see and and the world others see, won’t necessarily be the same world. It’s just a trick for blizzard to deal with dynamic content from a far distance. But we know they can do that (witness how far away we can see the bosses in Tanaris). They just need to make it dynamic so others see their stuff on all of the shared spaces.
Why? It’s probably going to be like SWTOR or ESO with set buildings that all look the same except for what we put inside. Possibly some things outside. I don’t screenshot my Strongholds outside. Even with the decos I put in front.
I agree but they shouldn’t be putting house entry portals anywhere besides in major cities.
If they make you fly to spires of arak for a spires of arak house, that’s gonna be counterproductive.
Im never going to your house. I dont care how cool it looks.
Just put a portal to all house types in every major city and you can choose whatever house you want anywhere in the world, then enter it via the portal.
This is going to be what happens. They will halfarse the whole thing. you know this.
My dream would be housing exactly like it was in WildStar.
Basically a 3D modelling tool that lets you collect and then rotate / scale / position tons of models from the game.
And allow anyone to visit anyone else’s home using their char name even if they’re not online.
But, I know this won’t happen…
So I’ll settle for asking: “please don’t sell furniture packs on the store”
Could you just place anything on a whim or did you actually have to aquire the item first?
That’s fine I really don’t care about anyone besides me visiting my house
Logically though, I dont think they will do that. It’s been done like that before and it only ever worked in Star Wars Galaxies, where houses actually persisted in the game world.
I think its going to be instanced housing with portals. Especially since that is how it was in Everquest 2, and Holly Longdale (Previous Executive Producer of Everquest 2) is now the Executive Producer of the Warcraft Franchise.
If you ask me, player housing is 100% “her baby”.
Do player housing right. Make it customizable I mean make it so we can move furniture and decorations around. The idea is to make it your personal home. Not some preset stage.
If you can’t customize your home the way you want it isn’t a house. The idea is your character owning property then the building. You should put what you want on it.
Trees, Shrubs, Furniture, Paintings, Fireplace, Etc.
Perhaps rare decorations can drop of bosses and such? I like the way SWTOR does it. You get house tiers and bigger the house more stuff you can have on it. But don’t have to exactly copy anything from one game to another 100% can make it unique.
I rather them take their time on this and do it with quality.
Housing doesn’t need a portal we have to travel to. SWTOR uses a menu window to “fly” to our strongholds. Rift used “key portals” from our bag.
Sounds kinda like a portal.
You know…
Something that teleports you…
Blizzard isnt going to just let you fast travel there from anywhere in the world. They love their Hearthstone timegating mechanics “take the bus if it’s on cooldown” too much.
Also, pvp people would complain too much as it being an easy escape, ruining world pvp even more than flying mounts do.
Bed, couch, tv, fridge, oven. And better come with a complementary case of beer in fridge
I fully expect the following when it comes to housing:
Blizzard will select a few completely abandoned or merely empty structures across all expansions. They will do some up ressing work on those that look dated to bring them in line with the modern game.
These will be the spaces that are available for player purchase. The outside appearances of the homes will be more or less set and not very customizable.
You will then enter into the home through a doorway designed similar to delve entrances. The interior will be fully customizable down to color, window location etc
Example: There is a small goblin structure in Stonetalon Mountains that houses a goblin or two. It’s a very dated classic era building akin to the one in Ratchet. I expect it to be updated visually but maintain its appearance. The goblins within will be removed.
Now it is a goblin themed home you can purchase an the interior design can be fully customized but you wouldn’t have any clue what the thing would look like based on its exterior which will appear the same for all players.
I don’t see why not. And if we get houses in different places, like Outland Nagrand on top of a floating island or a cottage in the middle of nowhere in a little grove of Ashenvale or high up on a mountain peak in Pandaria… there’s nowhere to put portals to these places.
Can’t port there while in combat and make it a cast time. Problem solved.
They’ll give us another hearthstone toy called “Homestone”. 15 minute CD.
Eh, I don’t think the cooldown is necessary. Just make it a keyring with key portals to each one. I’d hate to have to wait around if I want to nab a deco from one of my houses to put into another.
You have a housing portal npc that lets you select which house you want to go to via conversation dialogue and then bam. You go there. All houses in the entire game accessed via a single portal.
Uhhhh. What? You do realize that your house won’t be visible in the actual game world right? They couldnt actually fit several million player houses in the game zones.
They will be instances houses. You only see it when you actually enter it, and it puts you in your own private housing instance, that looks exactly like every single other millions of houses of that same house type.
They wont be selling WoW “Real Estate”. There isnt even enough space in every single zone in the entire game to fit a house for everyone that plays the game.
The only difference between players houses will be the way it is decorated inside.
You cant mount in combat yet flying mounts ruined world pvp.
