No, that’s incredibly stupid, because firstly that’s even more elven content. But now we have races that would have no ‘unique classes’ at all. What’s unique to Humanity that can be made a class that isn’t already? Tauren? Vulpera? Draenei?
Class restrictions are an old byproduct of outdated storytelling. ‘Why can’t my Tauren be a Mage?’ ‘Because they just can’t now move on.’
That’s dumb and lazy. Far better to offer the option and let players make the justification to themselves why their character would go down the route they did instead of being forced down the path by lazy storytelling.
Not every race needs to get a unique class but some races getting classes they wouldn’t have gotten due to faction split hopefully increases by 11.0 and when everyone can play together.
If you’re upset a Tauren can’t be a tinker and jump into a Gundam you’re at fault.
I rather get gnome and goblin tinker specifically catered to not only their technology but smaller stature. Instead of seeing raids being tanked by a Tauren jumping into a mech the size of The Jailer.
Something that respects Goblin/ Gnome culture and their players instead of the nonsensical wants of you wanting to be a Vulpera demon hunter.
Given that literally every character is capable of learning Engineering, then Tinker not being universally available would rightfully draw a massive storm of complaints.
Which, again, drives my point; classes are trained, not inborn.
Again, the Monk class does a great job respecting Pandaren culture without being locked to them.
And that spark of ingenuity exists in every race. Would it be more commonly expressed by races whose culture emphasize improvisation and creativity? Most likely sure, but it’s not impossible for everyone to do.
You’re right, Obadiah Stane isn’t Tony Stark. Neither is every other human on the planet. The PC, however, would be Tony Stark.
Except it doesn’t when goblins and gnomes specifically are this way to make up for their significantly smaller stature and less magical fortitude.
You’re saying the pc would be the exception completely being inconsiderate to the goblin/ Gnome community that will expect the tinker class to function a specific way. If they let Tauren and Zandalari be it then that will ruin the chance of the class receiving a tinker mech cause blizzard isn’t going to let Tauren run around in Gundams that are 3 time their size.
Every single race is capable of jury-rigging things to fix a problem or address something. Gnomes and Goblins aren’t even unique in that regard; Vulpera literally reverse-engineer tech on the field in Vol’dun.
Also, less magical fortitude? Gnomes are probably the most magically-inclined race in the Alliance.
Your examples don’t, at all, preclude Gnomes as arcane powerhouses that are willing to explore every nook and cranny of spellcraft. Does it blow up in their faces? Sure, but that’s A: a common Gnomish trope and B: isn’t exclusive to them at the least.
And hell, any tech Gnomes dream up should be equally as-doable by the dwarves.
Lore always follows gameplay decisions. This is not a new thing. They make a decision how to engage more players, then they come up with a rationale that sounds good to them. You can go with it or remain bitter as players happily play some race/class combo they were never able to play before.
Also I’m going to point out that the race/class combo your posting character is on didn’t exist in vanilla.
Except the Earthen and Mechagnomes were created to have different function so again. No it isn’t.
You’ve already shown multiple time in your responses you don’t care about the lore so again just proves my point how the dev on the dev team pushing every race every class is ruining the game.
The dev is probably some eboy mad that he can’t make a blood elf shaman and blood elf druid, not cause they care about the lore.
Tauren rogues are a new thing in the game. They certainly were not playable in vanilla, although there were a few quests where the player was put into stealth to complete the quest. So there was a tauren stealth animation.
Except the Mechagnomes that are actually playable are, as Blizzard infuriatingly keeps doing with ‘new races’, a political disagreement in Gnomish culture. These are Gnomes that took mechanical advancement too far for their peers’ comfort. Just like LFD Draenei, Manari, and Vanilla Draenei are all political disagreements.
We’ve defied the original functions the Titans have devised for us. We carve out our own paths. Again, culture and background can inform class choice, but it shouldn’t dictate it.
Whenever I read these posts complaining about paladins for all. I assume you are a Blood Elf player upset that Alliance Void Elves will be getting paladins, and that you really couldnt care about any of the other races getting them. It is always elves because they think they are losing a unique “look”.
I disagree with void elf Paladins but i also disagree undead Paladins.
Every other race i can understand there being a paladin. Especially A goblin Paladin with their belief in money just makes me chuckle.
A Paladin of The Gold if you will.
