The drum "nerf" makes the problem worse

Instead of requiring 350 LW, you now need 375 LW and a raid drop for the drums worth using. I know the good drums won’t be available until phase 4, but SwP is in phase 5 and is the raid where the drum meta will be at the strongest. Only the parsing guilds would require LW if they left it alone so it wouldn’t have been a big deal. Those guilds will likely still require the crappy drums because they can work around the low range. We now have a “fix” that doesn’t do anything but make drums more of a pain to use.
A much better solution would be a 2 minute tinnitus debuff for the whole party stopping the use of drums for the duration. This would reduce the requirement from 20 LW to just 5 LW without making the drums a pain to use. LW will remain valuable but won’t be mandatory for most of the raid. Notice how this addresses the problem unlike their “brilliant idea” of having the good drums locked behind ZA and a higher LW skill requirement.

This has already been done to death here man:

Don’t think making a new topic is going to get Blizzards attention any better - they have already posted two replies there.

It’s such a terrible idea we need to keep pressuring them to change it. Also I gave more of an explanation than the OP did in their post.

The anti booster crowds trying that tactic. Ask em how it’s working out.

The reason for that is boosts will make Blizzard a lot of money, but this “nerf” to drums won’t make them a penny.

Good thing actually because you should be committed to your trade rather than constantly swapping back and forth.

The problem is people will be forced to have LW to be optimal so they will already be committed. The greater drums just makes it so you now have to farm up to 375 and the drop from ZA. It doesn’t add anything positive to the game.

It make the process of swapping more cumbersome and that’s the goal. Nothing Blizzard does will eliminate “META” play. No solution will actually solve META play issues, so this is a very minimalist way of infringing on the meta.

lol, the bad drums are going to be mandatory. Here is why.

  1. They’re good in heroics.
  2. They can be used on trash when most people are grouped up.
  3. It’s not that hard to coordinate quadrants for groups to stay within 8 yards of each other on majority of fights in the game.

There is no reason not to use the 8 drums.

They are clearly doing it as an attempt to make it less wide spread. It will make drums less fun to use and won’t solve the problem at all. You will be able to do most bosses while in range of those 8 yard drums. Seriously, doing nothing about the drums would’ve been better overall because at least you wouldn’t have to use clunky short range drums until you can get the original drums from ZA.

Before patch 2.3 they were only 8 yards. They are just replicating how they were in their original incarnation and then adding the “changed” version as an extra drop to represent the buffed version that came out when ZA did. Little annoyed they went back on their “promise” at Blizzcon to change the mandatory feeling of some professions. But, playing a shammy so I’ll probably take LW anyway. My guild clears content efficiently without everyone having to roll specific professions so it’s not going to be mandated either. Think Blizz are just hoping people will get over it and move on
