If memory serves, Gnomes and Mechagnomes have played a vital part in a great many things. If my Gnome Mage can bring down everything in the Firelands, surely his brother could be taught self reflection and self belief while learning about the light. Also… dwarves who are 12 inches taller.

I can’t understand the idea of ​​ascension for shaman, much less this “new appearance”. As a shaman I want to commune with the elements, I don’t wish to be one, much less a semblance that seems to enslave them to have their power.
The way Dathea the ASCENDED gains the power of the wind seems to me to be perfect. I need class identity, not more animations and particles that mean nothing to my class.

I dont think theyve really fleshed out the shaman concept. People cite a lot of lore/information but it doesnt translate.

Did the elements abandon Thrall? All the subsequent questions around this go unanswered.

Theres just a million things that dont add up and the common denominator is they havent put in the effort.

I always thought of it like divine magic or Warlock pacts from DnD. You have access to the power so long as you are in the good graces of the entity you are asking the power from. In this case, the elementals let us tap into their power, but could cut us off if they wanted.

In the case of Thrall it seems it might have been a self imposed block, too. Not even consciously, mind you.

I do agree that Shaman lore is kinda half baked and all over the place, though. Sadly it is not even just them. Blizz has entire classes and races that just sort of exist but are not nearly as fleshed out as people would like.

Naw, that is fair. That is what basically comes with them deciding to pair racial lore with class lore. Everyone gets the Orc version of Shaman. You see it with Druids too. Everyone gets the Night Elf/Elune stuff.

And maybe hunter.

I also think that choice - the draenei - was bad considering how Light-based they are. But i understand they were scrambling because they couldn’t do Pandaren in TBC.
