Hi, thanks for sharing your thoughts on SoD. I agree with some of your points, but I also have a different perspective on some aspects of the new season.
First of all, I think it’s unfair to compare SoD to Classic Plus, because they are not the same thing. Classic Plus is a hypothetical game mode that would add new content to Vanilla WoW without moving to a new expansion, while SoD is a seasonal experience that introduces new class abilities, a level-25 endgame raid, and more surprises. SoD is not meant to be a permanent replacement for Vanilla WoW, but rather a fresh and experimental way to play the game.
Secondly, I think SoD is fun and exciting precisely because it changes the direction of the game. I like the idea of discovering new runes that alter my class abilities and allow me to try different builds and playstyles. I think this adds more variety and creativity to the game, and challenges me to adapt to new situations. I also enjoy the reimagined Blackfathom Deeps raid, which is more challenging and rewarding than the original dungeon. I think SoD offers a new level of difficulty and strategy that appeals to me as a veteran player.
Thirdly, I disagree that SoD strays too far from the Vanilla setting of the game. I think SoD still preserves the core elements of Vanilla WoW, such as the open world, the community, the exploration, and the nostalgia. I think SoD is respectful of the original game, but also adds some twists and surprises that make it more interesting and fun. I don’t think SoD is trying to cater to a vocal minority, but rather to offer a new experience for everyone who loves WoW Classic.
TLDR: I think SoD is a great update that offers a fresh and experimental way to play WoW Classic. I think SoD is fun, exciting, challenging, and creative. I think SoD is respectful of the original game, but also adds some twists and surprises that make it more interesting and fun.

See? I told y’all that “classic +” was never going to be a thing and will never, ever happen. They don’t need to, they can keep recycling seasons and everyone will play that. Why waste resources creating a “vanilla expansion” lol. Everyone once again said I was wrong to later find out otherwise. The turn tables.
I just hope microsoft makes the devs stop being silly and give us seasonal fresh on a recurring timer every 1-2 years…

By vocal minority, you really just mean “they are doing things I personally don’t like so I will now pretend there is a silent majority of people that agree with me”

Changes I don’t like - Retail Minus, Silent Majority is with me!, not in the spirit of classic!
Changes I do like - see this is what classic + is supposed to be and everyone who matters agrees.
Reality: No these are just your opinions, and you can stop pretending speak for anyone but yourself.

Please point out, even a SINGLE instance, of Blizzard officially referring to SoD as “classic plus”.

Please show me data that shows people left over the specified reasons you or the OP are claiming.
The game losing players doesnt prove that its loosing players because of the specific decisions you dissagree with.
Protagonist syndrome is a serious plague with you era purists.
It doesn’t matter what they do as long as it’s fun.
SoD is fun.
That’s all that matters.
Can we also be more honest here, the dip in numbers like always in classic probably is due to the raid taking a few more brain cells then the last one.

My brother in christ, look at where we ranked in every single phase outside of the last one post vanilla.
I’m specifically talking about vanilla, however warriors have been strong in many incarnations of wow.

Yeah I have been thinking about going back to retail lately, this is how bad it is
