This is a data problem that Discord is not designed to solve. Once the number of servers and guilds ramp up (after launch), that solution is going to be unworkable.
Imagine scrolling through an unsorted list of 100+ guilds where each guild description (with inconsistent formats) takes up half of your browser page and a significant portion of those guilds are dead. Discord is just a terrible way to solve this problem and it will eventually get replaced by something better, probably within 2-3 months after Classic launch.

Not everyone is comfortable with using discord and who is the admin of this so-called discord? Some yocal who thinks they hold all the power?
Super active is good. . but again. . . by who?
Some people might choose to use a web resource over discord. And again, saying “most” people use Discord is a little over the top.
And finally. You do know you need an account for discord right? For most anything today as a matter of fact. . . Yikes, my butt.
Listen, you don’t have to use it if you don’t want to. But to come into a persons thread who is sharing something they obviously have been working hard on to help out the community and dump all over it is a little crappy.
That’s my .02 worth. . But then I am a developer who also gets this kind of attitude from people who are not willing to make something too.

Lol. You think things like that will last when Classic is out? Everything like guild recruiting, logs and theory crafting will be the exact same sites as retail once it’s released.
That discord server is for private servers.

Why do you people think things that were done on private servers will work on Classic? Classic is a offical game so it will have the same websites and stuff retail has. 10k players on a discord is like .01% of classic players.

I agree, Discord was a nice start and I really appreciate everything the mods at WoW Classic Guilds have done, seriously!
I also agree that this is a data problem and something that Discord the application was never really intended to solve. Guilds constantly have to post their information in order to stay relevant and show that they aren’t dead.
We at ClassicRaids allow easy filtering, sorting, and searching by common parameters to narrow down your search so you don’t have to read through a dozens of irrelevant guilds before you find one that might match your desires. We can also easily add a feature to show whether a GM or Officer has logged in in the last week to show if the guild is still active, making it a lot easier on them so they don’t have to constantly post.
You don’t even need to create an account if you’re just looking for a guild. We provide full sorting, filtering, searching, and browsing functionality while logged out and provide GMs the ability to include Discord usernames and additional contact info if they want to (most have at least a discord username).
Also, re: security, We don’t store plain text passwords and we encrypt all passwords by salting them and using Bcrypt which is based on the Blowfish cipher (extremely safe).

Literally my guild which is the top viewed guild post on this forum and is RP-PVE o.O what do you mean there are no RP guilds I know of 10 off hand that have been recruiting quite a bit. The difference is you are setting up on a website that makes it difficult to post anything not to mention its a little too late to be starting this as once servers become a thing it will all be for naught.
You need to pretty heavily work on the UI if you want people to be using that website, over a server forum or server discord as websites like this are pointless when the latter exist.

I’m not saying there aren’t any RP guilds, just that none have decided to sign up on ClassicRaids yet. I can tell you first hand that you would get some nice exposure as the first RP guild on our site.
I would love for you to expand on the difficult to post portion of your feedback. We support multiple long form sections on guild profiles and allow markdown formatting to style it how you want.
We do wish we had gotten the site off the ground earlier but it’s better late than never! I still think it provides great added value to the Classic community and we’re continuously expanding the features offered
I would love for you to expand on the UI portion of your feedback as well! We just switched from an image background to a dark themed site and are still trying to refine it and get as much feedback as possible to improve it.

Hey are you guys still updating the site now that server lists are out? Many of us raid leaders are recruiting and having trouble finding certain specs on our servers - it really makes me wish that Bliz had server forums!

Thank you for your enthusiasm, yes we’re definitely still updating our site! Our dev was away on vacation this last week so we were a little bit late to get the server lists up but they’re up now! Don’t forget to add your server info for both your guild and your characters!
