Entirely agreed. I’m not using any of the jewelry they’re adding, personally I think it not only looks boring with no variation (and terrible in general. AGAIN This is my personal opinion, it’s fine if you like it) but should have been a transmog option. Not customization. We didn’t even get chokers… and Night Elves did. But?
She has one on… right there? So we didn’t even get non-clunky jewelry as seen right there in the cinematic, whereas night elves did get chokers. So yes, I’m salty; night elves ended up getting the hair styles I really wanted for blood elves as well, such as the half-mohawk.
I was sincerely hoping for, bare minimum, more hair styles that are variant. Not a fan of what we got (no offense to those that like them, but again, this is just my opinion on it). They’re a hard pass to me.
Indeed, but my point is that they don’t look like new stuff at all (except the Lorthemar one). They look like things that they discarted and after brought back to the game. Its sprites are badly done compared to allied races and etc.
It’s funny because the level of quality inconsistency is so high. Some hairstyles are very well made… Others look like rushed products. Not talking even about the unreleased cata styles, but new ones.
Belf male “thin braids” look abysmal. You can even count the polygons on the braids.
Darkfallen skin and eye aesthetic options so Blood Elves can appear and RP as San’layn and Dark Rangers.
The tiara from that hairstyle removed from the hair and moved to a jewelry option. The same for the circlet on the new male hairstyle. Or make them a toggle option.
Scars and Tattoo options
More hairstyles for both sexes.
More facial hair options for males and for the mustaches and beards to be separated.
For Blood Elf males to get some earring and necklace options too. Earrings are fairly unisex, and males do wear necklaces, especially in fantasy setting where protective amulets are not uncommon.
For Void Elf female face #5 to be shared with Blood Elf females. Faces 1-8 are identical between Void and Blood Elves, except for female face #5, and Void Elf females are getting the Blood Elf female face #5 in pre-patch. For the sake of parity, Blood Elf females should also get Void Elf female face #5 as an option.
Or it can work just like Draenei, with a checkbox that adds ornamentation to a style. In fact it could also be done with the old style that has a tiara too.
Also it would be great if the head ornament from their new style could be separated into its own option with a checkbox.
Don’t worry, as money hungry as the higher ups have gotten i wouldn’t be surprised if the better customization options are being held back so they can charge cash for.
I would love scars, facepaint, wilder hair… anything that leans more toward the Farstriders side of things. While the tiara hair and jewelry might work for some belves, I can’t see my hunter using any of it.
Male belves also got the short end of the stick. They need more, fuller facial hair, scars and facepaint/tattoos as well.
The night elf customization is amazing, and I’d like to see someone similar for belves.
Truth be told, the real problem with the new customizations and lack there of… is consistency… it’s like with every race they threw all the new options they had for the previous race out the window and started from the ground up again… every race should have the face shape feature that Humans are getting, tattoos, war-paints, makeup, scars, jewelry, accessories. Things should only be “unique” to a race if it makes sense…
Also, Blood Elves don’t even have it the worst… Worgen only got a few new fur colors, the eye color selection, and ability to customize their human form separate… that’s it… no new customization sections of any kind… Pandaren and Goblin got it just as bad as Worgen too… a few new colors, and the eye color selection… Pandaren get a tail/nub toggle, and goblins got their facial features separated out… Blood Elves got among the most new options out of every race…
Of course, I’d always like more customizations for everyone. But blood elves are far from the bottom of the new customization of the leaderboard. They’re sort of in the middle.
In my opinion most blood Elf female hairstyles especially the new ones are unoriginal, uninspired and just plain ugly motionless blobs tossed on their heads. The jewelry is a joke, gotten because those doing customizations see Blood Elves as a joke. The only decent thing they did was opening the DK hair colors for all classes.
I wanted to love the new stuff for blood elf but I was left uninspired by it all. The new Human appearances are sweet and I look forward to it, I was just hoping every other race had equal in attention to detail and variety.
The crown and jewelry is ok - I wish the crown was an option for ALL hairstyles, so if you love the hair but hate the crown, off it goes.
They do have over 40 new options. This is why I made a thred back then saying people shouldn’t be so happy about “40 new options” because that’s very little, that means you get like 4 new things per category and even worse if it counts 40 for the entire race so it’s divided between males and females.
What I said back then came to pass.
Lesson: Don’t buy the hype of the stuff blizz is overselling.
And when it comes down to it? We’re allowed to show distaste and be unhappy with what we’re getting. No one here is saying “Pandas and goblins shouldn’t complain, blood elves come first”. That’d be ridiculous. We should all get more options, and those of us that play these races are perfectly capable of speaking up and saying: “Hey, we really don’t like this”.
Because I, and some others, don’t. I’m using absolutely NONE of these options. The diversity is baseline and should have been a given a long time ago–that’s an issue they solved on their part. But in terms of extras and compared to other races like night elves, yeah, it’s pretty meh. I love the new night elf hair styles and wish we had some of those options on blood elves too (and they can have blood elf styles of course).
The only reason I see for why hair styles can’t be shared is the model modifications, but they do it with armor and such, so they should be with hair too. Just my two cents on that aspect.
What I wanted/am hoping to see eventually are scars, tattoos (runic would be neat), and facial piercings. And if we have to deal with jewelry spam? At least give us more bloody variety than the nonsense we’re getting (once again, personal opinion.)
Again, subjective. (That, and most belves seem to scream “tacky” to me, so it fits them perfectly.)
No new eye colors for draenei. Just the same pale blue as always-- even Zandalari have got more eye color options.
Look at pandaren who just got 3 hairstyles and 3 fur colors, 2 of which look like they were made specifically for DKs but they just went “Eh make it available for all of them and include it in their new customization”. Oh, and eyes like everyone else but draenei/LF draenei got.
Cry me a river and build me a raft of broken dreams.
Humans have over 30 face options. Did they have that many before? I didn’t think they did.
Either way, it’s a crying shame that people are being let down by something that sparked so much excitement when it was announced. All races should have roughly the same number of customization options, and right now it’s glaringly obvious that some races haven’t been given much attention. A few of these customizations should be available for all the races, like eye colors, jewelry, scars, and tattoos/paints. Also, they should stop needlessly gendering things like jewelry.
