The Community and Early Access

Because it’s true. Whatever temper tantrum the community has over nothing passes when it’s all said and done

Everything is always heated because Blizzard tried too hard appealing to such a wide array of people. There’s so many complaints from every direction, they’re never going to know what to do. Also they’re caught up in the “don’t raise prices for 20 years” that video games are now suffering from so they must monetize everywhere.

Nobody should complain about this without first complaining the game and sub are too cheap. The expansions should be $100 and the sub should be $25. Even that may not be enough at this point. Every year that the game prices don’t inflate with the economy, they will push more epic packs and micro transactions.

I wonder, this time around, if there will actually be complaints from early access purchasers that it didn’t give them any benefits, and that the usual folks raced right past them on actual launch day.

There’s not much of a debate.

There’s people that chose not to get EA now crying about it.

I genuinely couldn’t care less what people feel about me buying the epic edition. I buy it every single expansion. Typically with gold I’ve made throughout the prior expansion. The early access is just a cherry on top. It’s not like anything really important is going to be available.

People crying about it can kick rocks.

The only benefit it gives me is a chance to level up over the weekend instead of during the evenings.

Just wanting to get my hunter and DK to 80

I bought the Epic for the perks, not the early access that being on Area 52 I will most likely be sitting in a queue the entire weekend. People can think of me how they will. I have always followed my course through life and what I choose to purchase with the money I earn.

Early access in games has been becoming a thing like seasons in games now. Throne & Liberty is a f2p mmo launching Oct 1 but you can buy one of 3 packages to also get early access. This is happening in all genres that are online games.

On the flip side, I definitely get the frustration but it is a thing now so pay more if you want the early access or wait. I always get the collectors edition so I am glad I get the early access. But I agree with some others who posted here that the early access should have been on ANY pre-order and not just epic/CE.

What is this?

most of the conversation I’ve seen based around ea is the misunderstanding that having it is any kind of actual advantage

I don’t. Everyone pre orders which means it wouldn’t be an actual early access.

They are also doing it to put less stress on the zones servers.

Inflation has been high, but the costs we are seeing today arent soley driven there by such factors. I remember when i was a kid, gas spiked to 5$ a gallon, and eggs/milk companies increased prices on the justification of increased costs for transit. However, when the gas prices tanked, the eggs and milk prices didnt drop to reflect the lower gas prices. (Look at Chipotle for example)

Some of these price increases are soley due to wanting to make larger profit margins to pass around.

Yes, I know people who normally, when an xpac comes out, can’t even start leveling until the following weekend.

So EA is great for them.

Not really, you’d be surprised how many people don’t preorder

Gasoline prices are volatile and do actually go up and down, so are not a good example when discussing inflation.

Most things don’t go down in price. Ever.

I think it’s a scummy practice, despite having the epic edition. Faster leveling and questing.

Yep that’s me normally.

I’m thinking of what professions to go.

Def leveling as herb mining on both

How does ea do this?

Well, because it’s premium there will be less people, less congestion
