The Cataclysm Classic Pre-Expansion Patch is Now Live

I meant I’d like some free 251 gear for my alts.

Not sure what you mean by “systems patch”

We are getting the new talents on prepatch and I would assume the new way the stats work (such as feral druid only needing agility, does not need strength anymore)

Yeah I fully expect it to go away, with the new experience requirements to level, it should be roughly the same, JJ would make it insanely fast, not to mention heirlooms as we unlock guild levels.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they leave it on for 60-80, as 60-80 is still kind of a slog. (what I’ve heard anyways)

He wishs the prepatch was broken in 2.

System patch is the 4.0.1 which introduced Reforging, flex raid lock, currency exchange, class changes and stat changes.
This is also where the elemental unrest event happened. Old World.

The Sundering is 4.0.3 which changed Azeroth and made it a new world.

We are skipping the systems patch and getting it lumped together with the sundering patch which bypasses the event entirely unless blizzard reworked the event to function in the new world, which no one knows until they either say something or it happens.

I would love if they did. But from the beta it seems like 60-70 got like 20-30% nerf, some levels got more in order to make it linear but overall time is almost the same without JJ buff, but 70-80 got a massive 50-60% nerf on all levels which is like if the JJ buff gave 100% instead of 50.

Oh that’s good to know actually. So 60-70 about the same as with JJ, and 70-80 should be a bit quicker.

Yeah, for mains IDC, but I do have a few alts around 200-210 ilvl where I’d hoped/assumed I could snag at least a few 251 pieces to smooth out the transition.

You can quest in the new zones doing 2-3k dps, it’s just…very slow. And the acquisition of quest greens at least in Hyjal was slower than I expected esp. for some classes/specs.

What’s on the PTR is a mess that is definitely not ready for release. Archaeology trainers don’t offer training, cata zones and dungeons are accessible, Flight Master’s License is unavailable, Characters with the meta achievements granting 310 mounts are not autogranted Master Riding, Cata level professions are untrainable yet the Cata daily profession quests are available, two cata dungeons are available in the RDF, The professions tab is a lua spam nightmare and all professions are unusable because the icons on the new professions tab are non-interactable. That was just what I found in the first five minutes on PTR.

Yea geez from what I heard beta is absolutely awful right now. I mean I know beta is always behind what they will actually put out, but I just hope they dont put out a live beta test on April 30th. BFA didn’t get the nickname “Beta for Azeroth” for nothin’

Guards also direct you to a void storage npc that isn’t there. Smaller thing in the grand scheme of things but just another thing for the list.

The PTR and the beta are diff builds, stuff that is not on the ptr or broken on ptr may be in the beta, I know arch is as well as other proffs, flight master license is as well. I have not logged onto the PTR so I don’t really know what else is missing, not that the beta is in fantastic shape either, but it seems its deff in better shape than the PTR.

enjoy the last weekend of wrath everyone

So no pre patch event then? Ngl, was gonna play cata day 1 but I don’t think I can be bothered anymore. You should’ve just kept at wrath if you were gonna half-butt everything after it.

I already answered the question, the answer is yes. Although I said ‘yeah’ instead of yes, maybe that’s tripping u you up? I really don’t care if you don’t believe me, especially if you cbb checking yourself.

Oh, lol I didn’t mean that I don’t believe you! I didn’t notice you said, “Yeah.” Or if I did, that it was intended to be an answer to the question.

Thanks for the clarification!

Thank you Blizzard. I for one appreciate what you are doing to deliver this product to us. I am looking forward to getting started in the prepatch.

in the original wotlk we got all the new “systems” from cata in wotlk prior to pre-patch, also during this time it was the elemental unrest.

Which achievements will be gone on April 30? I know that ZG will be gone with the mounts, but which others will be gone as well?

Yeah, I don’t really get why people dislike the CATA expansion so much, because the expansion was like a sequel, almost. You had WOW 1, then the cataclysm is like WOW 1.85. Not quite a full sequel but close. It was actually such a massive expansion that they felt short of getting everything done.

Some zones are spectacularly reworked in the looks and the storylines. Had they honestly given themselves another 3 months max I believe that they could have gotten it all done.
The problem with Cataclysm was not the content imo. The dungeons were tough and the raids are probably the best ones ever constructed.

The underwater zone and quests probably should not have been done because wow’s swimming system isn’t fluid and feels like you’re playing in molasses to this day. This was also the first expansion with a Mythic difficulty and imo the way they should have handled mythics to this day. No plus 15 keys of a vault but these were real dungeons that required real teamwork.

The problem with Cataclysm is that lt held over systems that came at the end of Wrath. You could auto group for dungeons so this created the start of the “butt hurt” crowd of gamers and blizzard had forgotten that the reasons for the popularity of MMORPGS was that they formed real communities that were fun and engaging and your guild’s are part of that. I’d still run 5 man dungeon even though I didn’t need anything but just because a friend needed something. Think started to dwindle.

Also Cataclysm had the return of big and quite tough dungeons but because you could just auto a group. People stopped using TS or other VoIP chats to discuss mechanics and call for unexpected mistakes so the dungeon were not like Wrath’s dungeons that basically was just running down hallways. So the “butt hurt”” community cried about difficult level but Blizzard basically took the nerf bat out.

In short the content was to hard for the players that basically only started playing about halfway through WoTLK life cycle. It was really kind of sad to see players that I’d played with from launch to all start leaving the game because they felt the community dying. In short Blizzard was over the moon thinking about all those new submissions that they were sure was coming, so why bother with the people that had been with you for years already.

I have 5 brothers and 2 sisters, plus we are all married and have kids so a lot of what others hated about Cata didn’t apply to me personally. But I just remember conversations with other guild members thinking about leaving at these were their complaints.

I’ll play it again but instead of a Druid healer again I’m gonna play a different class. I can’t remember if Paladin Tanks were any good in this expansion but I’m leaning that way or possibly a resto shaman.

So my list of possible class and roles and if anyone remembers if they were good in Cata then please let me know.
Tank, either a Paladin or Warrior.

Healers I’ve not played
Shaman, and Disc/Holy priest

DPS (maybe but doubt it)
Mage, or hunter. Never played either.
