The blizzard Nameplates are missing multiple key and needed things

-1. there needs to be different colors when another tank has threat in raids, currently there is no difference visually between a mob being tanked by the off tank and a mob being tanked by a melee so I have to tab or click on each mob to make sure it is being tanked by the other tank if I am not tanking it.

-2. The threat wavey line things above the name plates, sucks and is unclear when mobs are stacked, it needs to be red, green, yellow for about to change aggro target, or another color to indicate if is being tanked by someone designated a tank, that is it, not wavey lines, the whole nameplate.

-3. it needs a name of the current target option, I would like to see their name on the enemy nameplate as their current target.

-4. I need to know what important debuffs are on the target, mine are fine, but I also would like to know, does it have sunder or expose armor, did it fall off? stuff like that. Is fairy fire and recklessness on the target, is wisdom there. I don’t need to know every single debuff, I don’t need to know if the warlock put corruption or immolate on it, as an example.

Threat plates does this amazingly, I don’t know why blizzard forces us to use this bad version of the addons we have grown to love.

Threat as a mechanic has not existed in retail WoW since 2008 (the release of Wrath), and devs have absolutely no idea how to adjust UI elements for it. So your suggestions, while very reasonable, will never be realized. You should just wait for your threat plates addon to be updated.

Yea, they tend to hamfistedly stuff retail elements into classic, even when it doesnt make sense.

The retail UI is absolutely amazing. In retail, you can clear any content (much harder content than anything in the classic trilogy) with it comfortably, zero addons installed. Every buff, every proc is snown to you in a way that is impossible to miss. And since you no longer need addons, there is 0 chance for lua errors or performance issues (3rd party addon programmers tend to solve every task by having blocks of code be executed every millisecond which is something a real programmer never does). You never have to run a 3rd party addon manager to update addons constantly. And on patch day, everything just works immediately, compared to addons where you have to wait, in the case of niche small addons, they just get abandoned entirely and you have to look for a substitute.

Threat is the one single exception. It does not exist in retail and hasn’t existed for 17.5 years. So retail devs just don’t know how to adjust retail nameplates to the needs of TBC. I wouldn’t worry about it too much, threat plates devs will eventually fix their addon.

Luckily I just told them. But they never read the forums and if they did, it would never make it to a Dev, and if it did, it would never see the time allotted to make the update.

Threat is a great mechanic and one of the reasons I dislike retail. After Wrath they made tanking so insanely easy the worst player in the guild could do it, and it took them like 10 years to make tanking even have something to do other than damage, by adding short cooldowns and some choices.

I can’t believe the “retail is harder than classic” shizz is still an unironic meme when pre-nerf SSC/TK and Sunwell are harder than anything in retail until you hit mythic raids or like 20+ mythic keys.

I wonder how hard it would be for them to just pick one, Plater or Threat Plates and just put those features on the builtin nameplates.

Yeah, just make it optional!

So endgame = endgame ?

Amazing mental gymnastics there, as if anything before some raids in TBC is “hard”

ESC, edit mode, presets, classic.

This I have done already. They still are not as in Vanilla/TBC.

You can use threatplates rn. If they’re still not updated for you just spin up Codex and have it fix it (that’s what I did, took 5 minutes).
