The Black Lotus problem

Again with the irrelevant, hand-waving blather. It doesn’t MATTER if it’s optional (spoiler - it always has been along with a bunch of other things). The issue is Blizzard failing to adjust the amount of black lotus for the increased server population. That’s their bad. Stop excusing the inexcusable.

do you speak just as loudly when they fail to reduce it with falling population?

no? how interesting. So you’re just greedy. Confirmed.

They upped the respawn rates and that just made it worse. Like every other stupid solution that Blizz implements at the behest of players from chronoboon to lotus spawn rates and everything in between.

They cater to the greed and it just makes everyone even greedier.

Forget lotus altogether, they might as well sell completed flasks on a vendor for 5g a pop and even then people would complain its not 1g.

Quote when he asked for a megaserver.

Small brain assumes everyone is just the other.

if he doesn’t want a megaserver then he can ask blizzard for more servers :expressionless: not more black lotus

he can play on the AUS server. it’s not Mega.

a herb for the most powerful consumable in the game, which recipe & the herb itself started as bop, on a 2 hour timer in the highest level zones in the game, is not suppose to be rare? uhhhhh yeah sure

the fact that is suppose to be rare is the cause of all of the problems surrounding it, its the most bottlenecked resource in the whole game, it has basically entire communities devoted to collecting it, it’s like the world boss of herbs

They did not. There are people in this game who nerd out on theorycrafting. That’s how we knew what the respawn timer was in 2005 - Blizzard didn’t tell us, the theorycrafters did. NO ONE has been able to point to a shortened respawn timer for black lotus.

Get your facts right. The respawn timer for black lotus has never been 2 hours. And no, it was never intended to be rare. I’ll repost this here:

It’s absurd to keep claiming flasks are a “luxury item” (they are NOT) and that a little over 2,000 spawning lotus a week will supply 22,000 active raiders.

In 2005 there were 122 servers in NA. There was an average of less than 150 TOTAL guilds on each server: https://www.reddit.com/r/classicwow/comments/8kcgtt/the_real_list_of_59_useu_guilds_that_cleared_naxx

So you originally had ‘maybe’ 9000 players playing at a level of “needing” flasks with 195 servers worth of lotus to pick. You can even multiply that number of people by 10 or 20 and there’s still a higher supply of Black Lotus per raider in 2005 than on current anniversary servers.

Flasks were never intended to be rare or not available to everyone.

What a kooky post. Open world resources are NEVER reduced for a falling population - not ores, not herbs, not skinnable beasts, not mobs . . . nothing. It’s not a thing.

I’m pro-adding Black Lotii as a rare drop from other high-level plants. I just wish there would be some additional requirement like +310 Herbalism to harvest a Black Lotus from a Dreamfoil. (Tauren reign supreme as the Earthmother intended.)

But +310 Herbalism isnt perfectly feasible because Mages, Priests, and Warlocks cannot equip the [Herbalist’s Gloves] for a +5 Herbalism item bonus (with +5 Herbalism enchant).

+305 Herbalism would work, I guess.

and they’re not increased either :expressionless: glad we got that settled

I wonder how long they’ll let Megaserver damage continue.

If shoving everyone on to 1 PvE and 1 PvP server says, is that they want to do as little server management as possible.

exactly. this is all about being hands off.
they didn’t stop the server maintenance just so they could start doing a bunch of in-game resource maintenance lol :expressionless:

come AQ40, the megaserver will be just a healthy server.

But they were increased once already.

begrudgingly, i’m sure :expressionless: they don’t want to do it again. this is my read of the situation.

and currently you have 0 players “needing” flasks because its molten core and 20 years later lol.

what would you call something you badly want but don’t really need, its superfluous to requirements?

hmm yes
