Anyway, enough of making you argue with Copilot, I logged onto TBC 10 mins ago, theres only 2 tanks on LFG and they are both looking for Ahune, and there are no tank advertising tank runs for gold in LFG chat.
you could just..wait in queue for a tank like many people do.
or join a guild and get a tank alt in your group.
or make a tank yourself
no one is forcing anyone to pay a tank or give them guaranteed loot for a 5 man dungeon
This is the same tired argument of “just don’t do this” as “this” is now more and more of an occurrence. Same thing as GDKP when people say “just join a ms>os pug” when they slowly begin to disappear.
Allowing this behavior encourages it.
Sooo true…
Except for one little thing you geniuses forgot to mention:
- Blizzard said they decided GDKP is against the rules on anniversary.
- Blizzard said they decided charging for tanking isn’t against the rules on anniversary.
So no, it’s not hypocritical to have both stances, considering that the company who runs the game said so.
What a few losers on the internet believe does not matter vs what the the company who runs the game says.
You’re still not engaging with the contradiction. You’re just shrinking the principle until it conveniently excludes the scenario you want to defend. That’s not “context,” that’s selective application.
Principles adapt to context.
Only if the principle stays intact.
Anti‑GDKP players say:
-
“Gold shouldn’t determine access.”
-
“Pay‑to‑win is bad.”
-
“Gold shouldn’t give power over others.”
Paid tanking does determine access.
It does gatekeep content.
It does give one role power over others.
Calling it “a service” doesn’t change the effect.
You’re relabeling the same outcome to avoid the principle.
Unpaid groups exist, so it’s not gatekeeping.
Existence ≠ accessibility.
A system isn’t free of gatekeeping just because a theoretical alternative exists.
If the practical reality in LFG is:
-
pay the tank
-
or don’t run the dungeon
…then the access is monetized.
You keep treating “possible” as “meaningful,” which is exactly the dodge I called out.
A slower option is still an option.
Not when the role is required.
Dungeons are mandatory for:
-
gearing
-
rep
-
attunements
-
raid eligibility
If the required role refuses to participate without payment, that’s gatekeeping.
You’re trying to downgrade structural dependency into “inconvenience.”
Forum patterns don’t prove hypocrisy.
They do when the same arguments appear in the same threads from the same crowd.
The contradiction isn’t theoretical.
It’s visible in:
-
anti‑GDKP threads
-
tank‑for‑gold threads
-
streamer takes
-
community discussions
You don’t need a spreadsheet of usernames to identify a repeated stance.
You’re demanding a level of proof nobody requires in any other forum debate.
Explaining scarcity isn’t endorsing paid tanks.
You’re not explaining.
You’re defending.
You’re arguing:
-
it’s rational
-
it’s not gatekeeping
-
it’s not coercion
-
unpaid groups exist
-
players should adapt
-
principles “change with context”
That’s endorsement.
Calling it “explanation” doesn’t change the position.
Opposing GDKP but tolerating paid tanks isn’t hypocrisy.
It is when the stated principle is:
Gold shouldn’t determine access to content.
GDKP doesn’t determine access.
Tank‑for‑gold does.
One monetizes optional loot distribution.
The other monetizes mandatory progression.
If gold determining access is bad in raids, it’s worse in dungeons because dungeons are the prerequisite for raids.
You still haven’t resolved that.
You’ve just tried to redefine the principle until it no longer applies.
The Real Bottom line
You’re not disproving the contradiction.
You’re avoiding it by carving the principle down to a size where it conveniently excludes the scenario you want to defend.
My argument is about consistency of principle, not sameness of mechanics.
And you still haven’t addressed that.
Mate, you have been arguing with Copilot for the last 8 hours.
Copilot doesn’t know whats going on since it doesn’t play the game, just like the AI you are using.
imagine making post and arguing using ai on the WoW forums.
Not only that.
He’s repeating “itself” over and over again
He aint making new arguments, he aint making new statements
And people keep arguing with him XD LIKE PEOPLE’S BEEN GIVING HIM 100 ARGUMENTS AND HE BE LIKE “NO YOU’RE WRONG AND IM RIGHT” HAHAHA
“Claude, refute this mans post.”
Gdkp is a type of service. Selling tanking is a service, boosting is a service, selling your ability and time is logical. Blizzard took a leap with assuming gold buying was rampant for GDKPs and who knows if it improved or had no effect from our end.
GDKP were 100% had people buying gold to gear quickly. I made a ton of gold in GDKPs every raid tier. Same can be said for boosting though.
The logic to ban GDKP is likely different because it effects that main end game component where as boosting effects leveling and tank services usually effect heroics. So all have gold buying implications but effect secondary systems to true endgame, and blizzard probably felt the need to protect raiding to the extent they can from this understandable but very casual unfriendly part of the game. Specifically as it takes away from guilds, community, and makes the game less invested and more buy gear log off until next phase.
I get GDKP has its own sub community to raiding but it does create a more pug environment overall. More guilds LF buyers and not raiders.
How do you fix all of this? RDF/RRF
I didn’t have ANY ISSUES running dungeons/RAIDS or getting GEAR DROPS in the versions of WOW that had RDF/RRF
Teh END
nobody is buying gold to pay for 5man tanks lmao
While yes, GDKPs had people who bought gold, let’s look at the actual facts. Since the GDKP ban went into effect, RMT has increased and botting has increased. Blizzard even backtracked first claiming GDKP was the root cause of RMT, then quietly shifting the narrative to “GDKPs negatively impact guilds.”
Meanwhile, boosting is 100% tied to RMT. People swipe to get boosted to 70 every single day. Blizzard didn’t touch boosting. They didn’t touch tank services. They didn’t touch any of the other gold‑for‑service systems. They only targeted GDKP because it was visible, not because it was the real source of the problem.
And let’s talk about tanks charging gold to tank normal dungeons. That gatekeeps heroics, which gatekeeps raids. It’s the same gold‑for‑service model you’re defending except it impacts leveling, gearing, and progression for the entire playerbase. If Blizzard’s logic is “gold buying implications = ban,” then tanking services and boosting should be banned too. But they aren’t.
So no, the logic isn’t consistent. Blizzard didn’t ban GDKP to fight RMT because if they actually wanted to fight RMT, they’d region‑lock servers, block VPNs, and hardware‑ban bots. They don’t do any of that because there’s no ROI. Bots resub every ban cycle, and Blizzard profits from it.
GDKP wasn’t the problem. RMT was and still is. Boosting is. Tank‑for‑gold services are. Botting is. Blizzard just chose the most visible target instead of the actual cause.
At least I am against both personally. Won’t ever get paid nor pay and refuse to join groups that do. What others can agree to do does not bother me, but not in my group, tywm!
ai slop post
if you don’t wanna pay for dungeon runs, then roll a tank yourself or find tanks that will do it for you for free. The only reason they do it is because people pay for it, so it is a choice. If there weren’t people willing to pay, tanks would have no choice but tank for free again.
It’s not my logic. It’s what’s in game right now. I’m just assuming they though gdkp was the main reason for gold buying and had a negative effect over the peak aspect of the game
all i see is crying because they want the best tank to tank their bad heroic and none of us will without compensation because we are tired of people like this wiping the run a dozen times causing us 75g repair bills… Mad cause Bad.
and we would not be tanking anything we did not personally need so there would be 75% less tanks in queue.
Show me better yet quote me where I ever said anything about
You can’t, because I never said it. Not once.
My entire point has only ever been about tanks charging for dungeons. That’s it. You invented an argument I never made, got emotional about it, and now you’re trying to pin it on me.
The line you wrote “all i see is crying because they want the best tank to tank their bad heroic’” has nothing to do with anything I said. If you’re going to respond to me, respond to what I actually wrote instead of whatever imaginary version you cooked up.
I’m not responsible for your repair bills, your wipes, or your assumptions. Stick to the facts, not the fanfiction. Demanding compensation for the role you chose to play is exploitative behavior. If you don’t need or want the dungeon, then don’t run it simple as that. Griefing, exploiting, and extorting players is not only morally wrong, it’s also against TOS.
Logical fallacy with the implication that you have no choice but to pay a tank; You do not, I’ve never paid a tank and never will, have multiple characters in pre-bis or better.
That said, loot services are far more egregious and closer to GDKP than paying for someone to help you in a dungeon.
We tried to explain to the “genius” that that idiotic claim is not true. The reason those tanks demand compensation is because they do NOT want to tank in the first place and simply want… motivation to do it.
Do you people really think that those tanks, who need NOTHING from heroics would just drop on their knees and tank for you bads if you all refused their terms? Lol no. They will simply not tank.
Also, a reminder to the usual not very smart people, tanks demanding payments do not bottleneck anything, and do not force you to use their services: it’s all on you–you have the right to refuse and wait like the useless little dps’ers you are. A tank owes you NOTHING. A tanks has zero obligation to tank for you, just as much as you have zero obligations to accept their terms–deal with it.
