There’s a pattern on these forums that’s impossible to ignore anymore.
The same players who insist GDKPs are “pay‑to‑win” are suddenly completely fine with tanks and healers charging gold just to perform a required role in a dungeon.
And the contradiction is massive.
. GDKP is optional tank‑for‑gold is not
GDKP:
-
You choose to join
-
You choose to bid
-
You choose to participate
Tank‑for‑gold:
-
You must have a tank
-
You must pay or you don’t run the dungeon
-
You have no alternative
One is a voluntary loot system.
The other is monetizing access to basic gameplay.
Yet somehow the second one gets defended.
2. Anti‑GDKP players hate when others profit but support profit when it benefits them
GDKP rewards:
-
organization
-
contribution
-
performance
Tank‑for‑gold rewards:
-
scarcity
-
withholding participation
-
charging a toll for access
It’s not about principles.
It’s about who gets the gold.
3. GDKP doesn’t block content tank for gold literally does
GDKP doesn’t stop anyone from raiding.
You can run SR, MS>OS, HR, soft‑reserve, whatever.
Tank‑for‑gold says:
“Pay or you don’t get to play.”
That’s not a loot system.
That’s a barrier to entry.
4. The arguments don’t match the stance
Anti‑GDKP players say things like:
-
“Gold shouldn’t determine access.”
-
“Pay‑to‑win is bad.”
-
“Gold shouldn’t give power over others.”
But then they defend:
-
“Tanks should charge gold.”
-
“If you don’t pay, scarcity gets worse.”
-
“It’s a service.”
So according to them, gold shouldn’t influence raiding…
…but it should influence whether you can even enter a dungeon the very place where players get the gear required to qualify for raids in the first place.
That means tank for gold doesn’t just gatekeep dungeons.
It indirectly gatekeeps raid eligibility, because if you can’t run heroics, you can’t get the gear people expect for invites to entry raids that drops gear that is wanted to enter the next phase of raids.
That’s not just inconsistent.
It’s the exact opposite of the principles they claim to stand on.
5. If you oppose GDKP but support tank for gold, it’s not about game health it’s about convenience
This is the real core of it:
They don’t hate GDKP because of “economy integrity.”
They hate it because they don’t personally benefit from it.
They defend tank for gold because they think it benefits them.
It’s not a moral stance.
It’s self‑interest dressed up as principle.
If you’re anti‑GDKP but pro tank for gold, you’re not fighting pay to win.
You’re supporting pay to enter a dungeon.
And that’s the biggest hypocrisy in the Classic community right now.
This pattern even shows up in the streamer community many publicly oppose GDKPs while defending tank for gold. It’s a contradiction worth pointing out.
