I’m not sure I understand the logic behind people thinking Character transfers/copies will kill Classic.
In scenario #1, people are allowed to bring their toon to a BC server and the vanilla servers are left with few people… then the server dies.
In scenario #2, people have to start fresh on a BC server. Their vanilla toon stays on the vanilla server, but they never play it because they are playing their new toon on BC… then the server dies.
The outcome is the same either way. Even if they didn’t release BC at all, the vanilla servers are still going to be dead by the end of the first year after Naxx is released. It’s always been the same pattern with retail. Player trafic always dies down after so much time passes with no added content.

The best way to implement Burning Crusade Classic would be in summer of 2020. In the actual summer too, not waiting until August 27th.
