The benefits of RDF FAR outweigh any potential social deficits

At the end of the day I’ve jist accepted that you’re a snarky little child. I’m also sure you’ve been told that before. How you act so self entitled that you come on here demanding Blizzard bend to your will and give you rdf because you’re such a “loyal customer” even though it was those unloyal customers that got you a wotlk server to “legally” play on because you’re not mature enough to venture out on your own. You need Big Daddy Blizzard to provide you with legal content because you can’t and won’t ever be able to be brave enough to do the things I’ve done. Have a nice life kid. I hope the real world isn’t to mean to you in the years to come.

This is why it’s such a waste of time to talk to uneducated fools who have poor reading comprehension. I’ve never demanded blizzard do anything. I’ve asked for blizzard to make changes that I thought would improve the game for me and many other people. Sometimes they’ve made the changes I’ve advocated on the forums, sometimes not. If there’s enough people requesting a change they sometimes make that change. So I don’t expect blizzard to bend to my will. I just consider it possible they’ll make the change we’ve asked for.

Brave enough to steal when you know there is zero chance you’ll be caught or punished? You have a bizarre definition of brave. I’m actually “brave” enough to do that, I just choose not to. I’ve done worse. I shoplifted a lot when I was a teen into my early 20’s. Much riskier but I don’t consider myself brave for doing it. I was a weird shoplifter. I mostly went to book stores and ripped off books. I didn’t stop because I was afraid. Very little risk since almost no one shoplifts books so they don’t pay much attention to it. I stopped because I grew up and realized all my rationalizations and excuses where bullsht and I was a thief stealing books. Do you think you’ll ever grow up?

I’m 65 and retired. I retired at 62, bought 10 acres of land in southern Arizona. Some of us retirees like the dry warm winters rather than the humidity of Florida. I’ve done pretty well for myself so far.

You’ve tried to pressure them, bully your opposition, and down right come off as a jerk. You not only can’t grasp the fact that Blizzard already went down these roads. They’ve had many long debates on the topic and decided against your thoughts. Instead of accepting that outcome you keep coming on here and beating that dead horse over and over again to the point that no self respecting adult can take you serious because you just can’t get the point of how Blizzard as a corporation works.

As a truck driver, a CDL holder, i have had to do what it takes to do my job and do it well. I’ve never gotten a ticket and have a pristine record. Rather Blizzard looks at these post and decide to should be banned for playing on a illegal server, so be it. Guess where I’ll head right back to? Someone wants my money. They always do. That’s how the world really works.

I find your childish, snarky behavior unbecoming of your age. Eitherbyour lying or you have some serious mental issues you should’ve address long ago but at 65, i have no faith in teaching an old dog new tricks.

Now how have I done that? I have no leverage to use against blizzard to pressure them. I can only come here and ask.

Now how do you know that? How long were those debates? Name the people involved in these long debates and the amount of time they debated. Neither of us know what happened but Brian Birmingham has said some of the devs wanted it add. I suspect there was a short conversation where each dev gave their view and BB as the head dev rather quickly made an executive decision. That’s usually how things work in business. In a business situation like this employees rarely spend a long time in extended debate with their manager.

Good for you. But that’s not uncommon. Most of us had jobs that we had to do well to make the money needed to live on while saving for retirement. What’s your point?

Sure and we all get to choose what to buy and from who. You’ve decided that your personal pleasure was so important that you would pay people to steal for you to get what you want. That makes you an accomplice to their theft.

Neither do I.

You cannot reason someone out of something he or she was not reasoned into.

Jonathan Swift

All you’ve done is try to pressure them by going after anyone and everyone that disagrees with you. Your cery mentality is that you can’t accept the outcome of Blizzard’s decision. I don’t think you realize how aggressive you come off towards others that don’t side with you.

Have you never watched interviews with WoW Devs? They have personally told us that when it comes to game changes and designs they don’t make them lightly. That they have like round table disucssions on various topics. You really think one guy just stood up and said, “meh, no rdf in wotlkc”? No, these things have to be debated. As controversial as rdf is as a topic, I’m sure there were many drawn out debates. Who was involved? I have no idea who all was involved but it all starts at the top, like a speaker of the house.

“Rarely” this would be one of those rare topics that get classified as controversial and not treated so lightly. Implementing rdf the first time around was much more likely done on a whim as all the short comings that followed were not considered or even remotely discussed. In hindsight, I’m not convinced Blizzard would implement a full rdf tool… oh wait, they didn’t. No doubt they both roads (rdf/no rdf) have many issues that as game designers Blizzard doesn’t like, but in retail the cats already out of the bag. So no going back there.

The same methodology applies to what i do with my time and money. I’d rather spend my precious little time and my money playing something i want over something i don’t want.

Thus one cracks me up the most as its just silly. No. Just no. It’d have to be proven that i personally had some hand in the crime that was done. Some intent before the theft was done. This is how governments corruption begins. Accusaing and arresting people for crimes other people committed. Go rob a bank (hypothetically) and toss the money out the window driving down the road. They aren’t arresting the people catching the money. We didn’t tell them to rob the bank. So no, don’t be silly. I’m not an accomplice.

Also that bank wouldn’t have been robbed if the bank manager would have listened to their customers and beefed up their security and always offered progressive servers, but that’s Blizzard’s vanity for ya.

And yet here i am still trying to reason with you.

You think blizzard actually cares about you. That’s so cute. If they were feeling any pressure because I was being nasty to you they could just suspend my posting privileges or even ban me from the forums. I have over 1000 posts many of which violate the tos and not a single suspension yet. If a post gets flagged by a significant number of people the moderator will look at it and the only pressure any one feels might be that moderator, to make decisions as quickly as possible and move on to the next job.

You’re wrong again. It’s illegal to knowingly purchase stolen property.

https ://www.findlaw.com/legalblogs/criminal-defense/can-you-get-arrested-for-buying-stolen-goods/

State laws differ on the crime of buying, selling, and/or receiving stolen property, but a common thread persists: The receiver of the stolen property must know that it is stolen.

California, for example, levies a misdemeanor penalty against those who buy or receive stolen property, but only “knowing the property to be so stolen.” In New York as well, criminal prohibitions against possessing stolen property typically apply to those who “knowingly” possess it. not those who unwittingly buy stolen goods.

By Betty Wang, JD

Are there penalties for illegal downloads? Chances are, you or someone you know downloads music or movies online. But just because “everybody does it” doesn’t mean that it’s legal. the Internet is running rampant with users who illegally download – commonly via peer-to-peer networks like Limewire or BitTorrent, and also from friends who will pass on the goods. So how illegal is this, and what are the potential penalties?

Copyright Infringement

The act of illegally downloading something falls under the Copyright Act of 1976, a federal statute that governs copyright law in the United States.

Types of works protected by copyrights include “works of authorship” such as literary works, musical works, and motion pictures, among others. Songs and movies, therefore, definitely fall within the category of works protected by copyright.

Copyright infringement occurs when the works are reproduced, republished, or used without permission from the copyright holder. This is where illegal downloading kicks in. The violation is typically enforced as a civil matter, although specific penalties vary by jurisdictions and some may apply criminal punishments.

Generally speaking, however, the most likely penalty is going to be a monetary fine for copyright infringement – if you’re caught downloading illegally, that is.

Actually yes i do. Thats why we have forum rules and moderators and why people cna get banned for over stepping those rules and being abusive, (trust me, i know).

Lol wrong AGAIN! I didn’t purchase anything. Private servers are free2plsy with an option to, “donate” thus circumventing your little law. But that was a cute try.

Think of it like… prostitution. If someone pays for sex, its a crime, but if you film it as a business, its legal.

And lastly, but yet again, private servers are free to play on and download the client. No purchase necessary. Don’t even have to donate.

You lose… again.

If you could read you’d see the law covers purchase or receive or even mere possession of stolen goods. I used purchase since you said in this conversation “Guess where I’ll head right back to? Someone wants my money.” That implies you pay. But it’s still illegal to knowingly receive stolen goods even if you don’t pay. I get that you won’t bother to read any of this just as you didn’t read it the first time I posted it. Some ignorant people aren’t ignorant because they are too stupid to learn. Often it’s because they are “blissfully” ignorant and don’t want to make any effort to improve their mind or their ability to think.

If you download copywrited intellectual property from bitTorrent for free you have committed a crime.

A federal jury Thursday found a 32-year-old Minnesota woman guilty of illegally downloading music from the Internet and fined her $80,000 each – a total of $1.9 million – for 24 songs. Illegal downloads of musical files will cost a Minnesota woman $1.9 million, a jury has decided.

Jammie Thomas-Rasset’s case was the first such copyright infringement case to go to trial in the United States, her attorney said.

Attorney Joe Sibley said that his client was shocked at the fine, noting that the price tag on the songs she downloaded was 99 cents.

Well as i legally own a copy of wotlk, guess I’m in the clear. Besides if the consequences of breaking said law are the equivalent of a slap on the wrist, oh well. Let Blizzard punish me. As I’m currently playing on their official server as they officially decided to listen and give me a progression server i see private servers as a relic of the past. That doesn’t mean that Blizzard can’t piss me off again and I’ll do what i gotta do, but we’ll cross that bridge at a later date. For now, hush. There are a lot of stupid laws on the books and most common folk are to poor to care and a waste of time for Blizzard to come after. They’d rather go for the jugular and go after the server host. They’re the one’s really benefitting.

Don’t have to download from any p2p site. The host often has the download availible. Yet again, take it up with the host. Us little peons don’t matter. Most of the people thst play on privste servers are from countries that aren’t very friendly to US laws. So that’s another whole debacle Blizzard can try and deal with.

But wasn’t you that just said, “Think blizzard cares about you?” If they don’t, what does it matter what law i break or don’t break?

Oh and like that woman is ever going to pay 1.9$ million. Doubt she actually pays a dime of it. These days with everything on YouTube or some other site you can stream the songs you want for free. If that lady is downloading free songs in 2022, i feel bad for her as there are better ways of getting free music. Same with streaming movies. Now dig up a current case on Blizzard sueing anyone for playing on a private server. It won’t happen. They’ll always go after the host.

you two are psychos

Oww, you say the sweetest things. You really know how to butter a girl up.

Of course you’re not. When you downloaded the software from Blizzard you signed a contract that said you will not use this software in any way except on an official blizzard server.

And there we have it. You don’t care about theft so long as you don’t get caught. In fact you consider it brave to steal when there is zero chance of getting caught or punished.

Copywrite laws aren’t stupid. I support them because I consume a lot of content. Mostly books and music but also some video games. When copy write laws aren’t enforced people lose money. The quality and the amount of content goes down when the creators aren’t adequately remunerated.

You’re all benefiting from the theft. You wouldn’t be there if there was no benefit to you. And blizzard copy write says you can only download it’s intellectual property from it’s official site. But I’m not going to take it up with any one. I’m not a cop. I’m just informing you that by your own admission you are a thief.

No, but likely they garnished her wages. Possibly took her house if she had one. There were several thousand convicted of downloading music before the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) decided it was a publicity disaster to continue to target individual downloaders to stop the theft. You can get most music for free on youtube because google has been sued so often and paid such large fines that they remove copy write material from their site and pay those who own the copy write if it’s there legally.

I don’t care about that, it’s still a crime even if you don’t get caught. That’s the only thing you care about, if you’ll get caught when you steal.

Ive been in que for 6 hours now trying to get a single dungeon party. Its like this across 3 different level brackets(ive been hopping on other alts to check). Not one party in 6 hours. I couldve ran the entire heroic world tour in that time. This game is dead outside of heroics and raiding because of the lack of RDF. Its a horribly failed experiment and talking to guildies(across 3 dif guilds) the general consensus is that its not even worth making an alt with the current situation because of how miserable the leveling experience is right now, so theyd rather raid log or afk in town. Way to kill your game just to appease a few bafoons who are all lvl 80 and dont even interact with anyone outside of raids or heroics at all

I consider it a needed path when people aren’t being listened too. Kind of like BLM and how they might not have handled things in the best way, but there was some merit to their demands. Also remember if we didn’t break British law, we would be sitting in another english colony right now. Yes breaking a law for the right reasons can be brave, but I’m sure you’ll find a way to toss it in my face as that’s what you seem to do to have your way. Pressure people into getting your way. Bully them.

They are when the original content is left dead and nothing comes of it and the fans beg to go back and just remember how things were. Even Nintendo put their original library from the NES on the Switch. Its amazing how you’re such a corporate shill and don’t respect honest people that just want to have a good time even though you obviously post on a level 80 warrior from a classic version that wouldn’t exist if Private servers hadn’t shown Blizzard that people do want to go back.

By your logic you benefited from the theft too as you play on a Classic server that wouldn’t exist if those people hadn’t hosted a Vanilla WoW server. So i Believe the words you’re looking for are, “you’re welcome”.

I’m a pretty far left liberal and I support the reasons BLM protested but I don’t support riots and looting. Protesting is a constitutional right but it is regulated by law. Looting is a crime. The government should have called out the National Guard and shut it down.

Breaking the law so you can have fun playing a video game doesn’t seem like the right reason and I don’t see it as brave.

You’re not honest when you break copy write laws. Wanting to have fun doesn’t give you a right to steal. The kids who steal your car often are doing it to have fun. That’s why they call it a joy ride.

The government ran by the orange man that was constantly called racist and you wanted him to send in the NG?

You got a classic wotlk server out of it. I beg to differ.

I wouldn’t have to be dishonest if Blizzard had listened in the first place and as i never got a cease and desist letter from their attorneys, it really isn’t a me problem, however all those private servers that are still up legally causes a problem with Blizzard as they could lose their tm.

You don’t really know anything about anything do you? Outside of how to drive a truck you’re about the most ignorant person I’ve talked to in a long while. This has nothing to do with the federal government or the president. From wikipedia

The National Guard is a state-based military force that becomes part of the reserve components of the United States Army and the United States Air Force when activated for federal missions. The governor is the commander-in-chief of the units of his or her respective state. States are free to employ their National Guard forces under state control for state purposes and at state expense as provided in the state’s constitution and statutes. In doing so, governors, as commanders-in-chief, can directly access and utilize the Guard’s federally assigned aircraft, vehicles and other equipment so long as the federal government is reimbursed for the use of fungible equipment and supplies such as fuel, food stocks, etc. This is the authority under which governors activate and deploy National Guard forces in response to natural disasters. It is also the authority under which governors deploy National Guard forces in response to man-made emergencies such as riots and civil unrest, or terrorist attacks

Yeah, I had all sorts of rationalizations too about why it was ok back when I was stealing books from book stores. They always started with some version of the Evil Corporation stealing and oppressing The People. Then I grew up and matured.

Sorry, no, you’re just wrong. “This feature works like this for me in retail” is irrelevant, you’re not playing retail.

It’s working fine as it is for many people.

You don’t understand that possession of stolen goods is a crime. You will be arrested if the amount is sufficiently significant enough to make it worth the time and cost involved. For example if it was individual $20 bills and you grabbed a couple the government probably won’t prosecute you for possession. But if it was a $10,000 packet of money they will. If the government can’t prove you knew it was stolen you won’t be charged with a crime, but you will be forced to return the money. If you’ve spent some of it you will be legally enjoined to return it as some later date. If you fail to abide by that court order you’ll be arrested and charged and likely sent to jail. If you find a Wells Fargo bag full of money you will be forced to return it and since the government can prove you knew it didn’t belong to you you’ll be charged with the a crime. Finders keepers isn’t a legal concept
