The Avowed Rep and Inquisition Gargon?

So I was searching for reputations to grind out for my 100 exalted achievement and decided to work on The Avowed (since Ven’ari, Marasmius nor Court of Night reputations seem to count towards the achievement.)

Upon finishing the reputation grind, I am now 2 reputations shy of the achievement (waiting on server resets to finish a couple raids to finish the achievement). However, I am unable to purchase the one item I was wanting to get for the other achievement I happen to be going for…the 400 mount achievement.

How is it that this sub-faction can count towards the 100 reputations, but others like Court of Night doesn’t? They both have the standard faction standing (Friendly, Honored, Revered, Exalted) unlike Ven’ari; they both are in the Reputation tab on the character screen unlike Marasmius. Yet, unlike any of the other reputations you can grind out, you CANNOT buy the mount?!? This is absolute B.S.! I understand I can’t get (or use) Venthyr, Kyrian and Necrolord mounts, but even these reputations you were able to purchase a mount from them that everyone can use.

I don’t think Court of the Night reputation counts toward the achievement? I don’t think mine ticked up when I hit exalted with them.

I really like the Gargon mounts. Like reeeeally. Lol

I completely understand that each covenant has unique items, cosmetics and mounts, but I was really hoping I could get at least one version.

I was fully prepared to grind out the Avowed rep for that Mount and was very sad to see I can’t get it.

I don’t agree with all of the Blizzard restrictions on rep and items. I really hope that changes in time.

Court of Night does not count. Yet, Avowed does but it essentially a sub-faction of Venthyr (similar to Court of Night being a sub-faction of Night Fae). Which is why this reputation doesn’t make sense.

That’s not correct.

As Kyrian, the only way for me to get Court of Night rep is for a Night Fae player to summon the champion and have me defeat it.

However, anybody can start the Avowed quest chain in Revendreth and do it, in fact running the Halls of Atonement dungeon gives rep for it just from trash. And it’s a common reputation among alchemists because it’s the only way to get the Shadestone transmute.

Avowed is a universally available reputation.

TBF, Court of Night offers Night Fae rewards.

While Avowed may be a common rep to get, it is still required for Venthyr to get the mog item and mount. Hence, why this makes it sound like a sub-faction of Avowed and not its own faction. Otherwise, everyone would (and should) be able to get this mount.

Honestly, these Covenant mounts should be account-wide similar to Allied races’ mounts.

Are you certain it’s counted for the 100 reps achievement? I hit exalted with The Avowed a couple of weeks ago and I’m almost certain the counter didn’t increase by 1 at all.

The Undying Army has rewards for necrolords only. So does The Wild Hunt for night fae. I believe the court of harvesters has venthyr rewards as well. So what point are you trying to make?

Poor Ascended.

Idk it’s kinda simple. You can’t get Gargons if you’re not venthyr.

Helpful video on mounts in SL

I think with the Gargon, you can’t buy it as non-Venthyr cause you can’t use it as non-Venthyr.
Think people would be even more upset than you right now if they bought the mount and then wouldn’t be able to learn and use it.

The Undying is the rep for Necrolords covenant so of course it has rewards for Necrolords only. Same with Court of Harvesters for Venthyr. Same with Wild Hunt for Night Fae. That is not my issue.
The Avowed is supposedly a Neutral faction that sells items for Venthyr only. Court of Night is a Neutral faction that sells a mount anyone can seemingly buy and use (it is easier to be Night Fae to get these items, but anyone can get the rep and tokens to buy). The Avowed is necessary for alchemists to grind for the Shadestones, offers a rep grind, but the rest of the rewards (minus toys) are locked behind another Covenant requirement.

You do realize that the Undying army, Wild Hunt, Court of Harvesters and The Ascended are neutral reps as well right? They are the 4 main reps of Shadowlands atm. They are not covenant exclusive reps.

So again, what point are you trying to make?

Those Quartermasters offer items that everyone regardless of faction can get (excluding some Transmog flair). This includes mounts. The Renown Quartermaster is for Covenant-specific items.

The Avowed Quartermaster is not directly linked to a Covenant faction (like Wild Hunt, Undying Army, etc.), yet has restrictions on the items for a Coveanant that is directly linked to another Neutral faction–Venthyr. I am not sure how much simpler I can make this for you.

Now that you mention it, it is weird that anyone can just go and get Avowed rep, but the other “side” factions require someone from that zone’s faction to at least help out.

I know im late to this but the Night Court opposite in Revendreth is actually the Ember Court, Avowed was just a bonus rep thats thrown in to grind your butt off to get a certain recipe (i think it was the cauldron? i dont remember) and its usable by all Covenants, kind of sad given theres no other bonus rep in other zones like why no House of Plague Remnants? woulda been cool.

So, I’m exalted with all covenants and there are things from all of those vendors that you can’t buy if you’re not member of the covenant.

The Avowed rep is also not the equivalent of the Night Court - which someone already stated further up (actually, in the post just above this one).

Either way, you can’t have Gargons if you’re not Venthyr - doesn’t get much simpler than that. I’m pretty sure at some point in the future (end of expansion or after the expansion) that’ll change, but for now that’s just how it is and it was clear from the beginning too.

Maybe they’ll add some more in coming patches. I mean after people complaining about rep grinds for the entirety of BfA I understand why they didn’t wanna add in too many factions you can grind rep for.

It’s even possible the Avowed are only in this first version because Castle Nathria is the first raid and located in Revendreth. Maybe wherever the next raid is, maybe there’s gonna be something like that as well.

Not for long

The only things you can not buy from the faction quartermasters are the cosmetic transmog items. The rest of the covenant-specific items are from the renown quartermasters.

Is there a change coming? I thought this rep grind was supposed to be similar to rep grinds of old, grinding out mobs around the area and in the dungeon for bits of rep.
