The Ashenvale event shouldn’t award rep only for killing the boss!

The way the event works right now literally incentivizes people to not PvP!
You guys need to fix this fast before the damage is irreversible.

Like instead of getting rep from downing the boss maybe get it from a quest that has honorable kills as an objective to force participation in the PvP? And don’t make it require being present when the enemy leader dies so people who were defending also get rewarded.

Like this:

Win the Battle for Ashenvale: 0/1
Get 40 Honorable Kills during the Battle for Ashenvale: 0/25

And so people are incentivized to defend but also attack and prevent turtling:

Get 25 Honorable Kills within 40 yards of your Leaders: 0/25

Get 15 Honorable Kills within 40 yards of the Enemy Leaders: 0/15

I’m not saying this would be a perfect solution, but at least it wouldn’t be literally telling people to ignore enemy players and zerg the boss.
WoW players have repeatedly proven that they will always take the easiest route to the rewards regardless of the intended experience or what would presumably be more fun.

The boss should be straight up unkillable if you don’t have control of enough towers. You also should be unable to contribute to taking towers unless you have a required number of kills.

The same way that wintergrasp restricts you from building certain vehicles if you haven’t gotten enough kills, you should not be able to claim enemy towers unless you have so many kills.

It’s Alterac Valley: The Zone.
Having a primarily PVE objective in PVP kinda turns the focus a bit.

Are there not “Kill X opposite faction” quests in the zone?

I am fine with the way it works. Two small changes would make it more competitive:

  1. Delay the boss spawn by a few seconds so the boss can’t get pulled before its guards are aggressive.

  2. Award the rep to everyone in the zone at the time of the battle so that people are incentivized to actually defend.

Those two changes would go a long way to fixing the rush. As it is now, there is zero incentive for anyone to defend the boss. If everyone in the zone gets rep, then defending the boss to delay the enemy’s rush would be a real strategy. Battles would take longer naturally and people would engage in actual PvP during the event.
