Came across something interesting from another thread, though Iâm taking it with a grain of salt. Apparently some player character related files involving Jinyu were recently datamined:
Not really sure what all it means. It could just be something small, like Jinyu NPC models being put where playable race models are stored to make it easier to give them armor, much like how most NPC races are treated. Itâs possible we could see them at some point in Dragonflight, unless itâs another NPC offshoot race of them like with the Ankoan.
I also donât know why there is a â in the name. I donât recall seeing Jinyu spelt like that, unless Iâve missed something. Not sure what to think there.
Still, itâs something very interesting to find. Of course, the best case scenario would be to see Jinyu/Ankoan as a playable Alliance race, with Kelfin as the Horde counterpart, but I donât want to give my hopes up. It does give us something to keep an eye out for as we go through Dragonflight, though.
If I see anything else to report, Iâll be sure to do so.
With these new npcs coming with the Trading Post, I hope we will see some jinyu in Stormwinds. They are in the the Alliance since MoP and they are still an allied of the Alliance in BfA (several jinyu can be found in Boralus Harbor in Boralus). We should have some of them in Stormwinds as all the other races of the Alliance.
Wowhead recently posted an article about possible hints of a return of Queen Azshara that I thought was worth mentioning here and in the Kelfin megathread:
I donât know if this means we could see her appear in Dragonflight at all or not. Part of me feels like it would be better if she was a focus of another expansion, since Dragonflight already has quite a number of things to focus on for its story. Not to mention a better chance of Kelfin and Ankoan getting involved in the future if Azshara wasnât shoe-horned in as part of a patch in an expansion.
Itâs something Iâll have to think over as we continue with Dragonflight and beyond. Still, I figured it was something worth mentioning just in case.
If Jinyu/Ankoan become playable, my current plan is to have a Frost Mage. Something about them using ice magic with a water elemental pet is very fitting. Not sure if I would go Jinyu or Ankoan if they were both options. Iâd have to see customization options and also if we got more character slots.
I would like to see more stuffs for the Jinyu with the Alliance. They really need to get more stuffs with the Alliance like the Broken and the Wildhammer can have it.
For new classes for them, I could see
Jinyu warlock using the dark power of the abyss or something with the shadow magic relating to the abyss.
Jinyu paladin could use the âLight of the seaâ or the âNeptulon Lightâ like the Tauren can do it with Anâshe or the Zandalari with the Loa
The Jinyu, Wildhammer, Frostborn, Stillpine Furbolg and the Broken are all a part of the Alliance already! Its high time Blizzard let us play these races finally!
I really love that concept of the Deep Abyss being the focus on Jinyu warlocks. Could extend that to their Shadow Priests as wellâŚ
Jinyu using the powers of Neptulon to reach out and do what Paladins do would be amazing as well!
I also think itâd be interesting if it turns out there is a loa deep beneath the waves thats an Angler Fish and has ties to the Light and they get their power through them.
