Well, yes. That’s what happens after years of the horde and The Alliance slapping them around for loot and mounts. Now, they want to be friends with us.
That’s not much different to the elves … or the mogu, ogres and orcs. or even some dragons.
You’d wipe out the Amani, once and for all? Yikes. lol
Good!
Especially with comments like Maurdeth’s above.
They take the troll lands WITH genocide – Then claim that some of the reclamations, even those that still have troll ruins and monuments like what the Gurubashi have in Stranglethorn – would be “morally wrong” and bad BECAUSE of genocide? The hypocrisy!!
Well NOW they’re not so sophisticated – They were – but then went backwards.
The Zandalari at least, retained their glory It may not shine as it once did – but their sophistication still endures.
Plus, I amongst others like the idea of having blue-Amani trolls — but with the muscles of a glorious Roman warrior or the curves of a divine goddess, with the balance between elegant and powerful.
I want strength, and the sickness for the thickness with refinement – to be the defining qualities of the Amani
I am …indifferent to the Amani Trolls, to be honest.
I like the characters we interact with, but the Amani, on the whole, are just another forgettable Troll race.
I think if they extended and restored the former-Amani Empire ruins south of Quel’thalas, to the other areas of the Eastern Kingdoms – and found a way to interconnect them (perhaps even with the aid of the Zandalari) — they could be really cool.
I think in Cataclysm with the troll patch – The Gurubashi trolls in Stranglethorn and that whole questline was really awesome! The Gurubashi certainly didn’t seem forgettable after THAT!
I was rather saddened they simply added the raptor and panther pet @ the pet vendor without the questlines later on
I still prefer the Zul’Aman and Zul’Gurub raids over the dungeons — but the quests and themes were still brilliantly done Especially the loa stuff
the only trolls that are cool are the zandalaris because they have figured out a way to tame dinosaurs, and also have added to the game by providing raptor mounts.
but yeah, all other trolls are pretty easy to kill then rob, that’s why even NPC races farm them
I don’t think they’re wrong because of genocide, I think they’re wrong because they’re dumb cannibal savages that don’t actually try and make much more of themselves than a violent row.
Well I wouldn’t say the Amani are entirely dumb … but admittedly, yeah it’d be good for them to ascend what lands they currently hold first — before advancing to retake and ascend the kingdoms they’ve lost
During the Cataclysm troll-patch, the Gurubashi at least had the right idea by attempting to do so with Stranglethorn
I think a flourishing Gurubashi Empire Stranglethorn would be amazing!
Alas, the other factions tend to ruin those ambitions …
It’d be interesting to learn the “Cannibalism” thing was a sect in each empire, where there were two branches in each & every troll empire – Those that participated in such, and those that didn’t — because at least that way you could reason those who were against it, while holding the notion that it still existed
The savagery thing however, depending on the context — can be a really cool factor
If you read the actual thread → you’ll see it’s applauding the culture - when it was at its peak — and scorning their current status after their downfall, while advertising they should rise up above themselves and rise their culture & society to glory once again.
I think that’s another reason to why many enjoy Zul’Jan
Because he’s a visionary … Mind you, he has biased views and shameful, poor philosophies on the loa with such visions — but nonetheless, he at least holds that vision of what they COULD be – Rather than what they’ve become.
I always enjoyed the Gurubashi because their vision of reclaimation, ascension and conquest involves their loa — Rather than rejecting them. It makes them much cooler.
See? You are belittling their culture just because it has changed over time.
But I agree they should have the loa as the center of their culture and daily life, and I think it’s already happening after the player and Liadrin helped Zul’jara reconnecting with the loa.
Arguing they’re ALL “valid and rich” for the mere sake of it, isn’t really valid … it’s simply catering to some obnoxious virtue-signaling notion of praising for the mere sake of performative empathy and moral superiority.
Mind you, MANY troll tribes – Amani included – had man-eaters & cannibalism. Some STILL do.
They had – or have – slaves either abused, beaten & chained into submission or bewitched by voodoo, along with sacrifices to their gods and various hex magics to torment those they consider ‘lesser’ added in with them also performing necromancy and frequented skirmishes + raids that butcher villages entire.
… If they’re ALL “valid and rich” – You’re claiming such for even the Vilebranch and the other tribes of who practice cannibalism, mass sacrifices, torture, dark-magic slavery and genocide of what such tribes consider ‘lesser’ are ALSO valid and “rich” in culture I’d argue that conceptually — They’re cool and valid in the sense they have self-serving benefits to it, but I wouldn’t be ignorant enough to claim or insinuate it in such a way that they’re culturally rich in any morally virtuous ‘valid’ sort of way. lol
Yes - Implying it could be better …
Wanting to upgrade architecture in advancements to what they once had, further the architectural technology (waterfalls and river-networks) and further advance them in strength, vast riches, opportunities, magics & divine powers isn’t a bad thing. lol
As Eldrethana stated in another thread with the Amani →
Retcon? I’ve hated Zul’Jin since WC2, Raid at Hillsbrad was in all honestly MUCH worse then the Human campaign version because in Ambush at Tarren Mill you have to run the Elven archers back to your Camp but in the Horde side of the campaign you have to run them back to another entire camp that is still a gantlet of a few more Elven archers.
then you got Axe throwers in themselves, have you ever used an Axethrower before? Terrible unit until you upgrade them to Berserkers which in all honesty is just 10+ HP and some Extra sight, the only time they become powerful is when you give them Bloodlust, which you get LATE into the Orc campaign and by then you are better off just using Ogres Magi, Death Knights and Grunts, with actual DRAGONS for range
The Amani and other trolls using massive stone monuments and beholding a city like Atal’Aman with waterfalls flowing off their stone & gemmed architectural designs, doesn’t just ‘automatically’ equal to them into being the regarded: “Stone Age”
The Roman Empire for example, existed during the IRON AGE civilisation – and yet it held likewise massive kingdoms of stone and monuments of marble, along with the stone-carved designs of their concrete-stone, made from lime mortar, volcanic ash and reinforcements upon such.
The Trolls of ‘The Gurubashi Empire’ – had the Gurubashi arena — which is clearly akin to being inspired from the Ancient Roman Colosseum, which isn’t really what you’d call a “Stone Age” design or refer such was the time-it-was-made-from either.
The trolls could go from a lesser age to a GREATER one!
One that they once reached in a distant glory ago, of which they lost and fell from such grace … They should reclaim their civilisations advancements — and seize that glory once again!
