because someone who says that in this type of thread is typically trying to influence blizzard to do things their way by withholding their $15. And that makes your argument a little petty because blizzard doesn’t care about your $15.
I think this statement needs some more specificity to it. There was a very large difference between the Tower when it first released, when people only had Nighthold gear, and when the expansion ended. When people were decked out in full Antorus with their set bonuses and NLC. It’s not clear yet what difficulty level they’re aiming for with the Timewalking version as the “original” is a fairly wide range depending on when you’re talking about.
Even if they err more on the Antorus side than the Nighthold side, encounter knowledge will be the most important aspect of it. No amount of gear will save you from doing those fights incorrectly.
The issue is that it was discontinued rather than it being an issue that it’s an exclusive item. Since blizzard hasn’t done a similar MT challenge since Legion it sucks a lot more. You don’t see people whining about not being able to obtain certain elite mounts or ahead of the curve mounts because they happen every expansion and every last raid tier. The exclusivity of it is fine, but if you’re going to do exclusive items at least be consistent with them.
they are consistent about it - they tell people at the time things aren’t going to be available. they don’t have to make every reward time limited or exclusive. What would be inconsistent is if they said time limited, then brought them back later.
No it doesn’t…
You still have the skins. That would only apply if Blizzard removed them from you. Which they’re not doing. Why does what someone else has, or doesn’t have, matter to you? It shouldn’t. You say in a later post that your enjoyment of the game comes from your experience and your accomplishments, none of which change if Blizzard does add the original MT skins back to the MT in 9.1.5.
You still spent the time to get the skins.
You still put in the work and accomplished something by getting those skins.
I could see this logic applying if they just randomly added the MT back, without attaching it to timewalking, so players could just cheese it in Shadowlands gear at level 60. But they’re not doing that.
Players were able to cheese it during Legion with Antorus gear. Was your time and achievement wasted when players were doing that?
Do those work as well? I wouldn’t know as I started the game in late WoD. So I only know about the Heart since that’s what I have.
My attitude for those is the same as the Heart. It didn’t matter when all we were doing was smashing Heroic dungeons but it will absolutely matter for the Mage Tower so Blizzard should be taking a look at what legendary effects work in there.
I was wondering how a lvl 19 tank was doing legion and BFA dungeons with 4x our damage. I hadn’t thought of that.
I thought all the effects and bonuses were turned off for legacy gear. But this druid literally ran both content as if he were running an xmog dungeon with a broken party sync
No you don’t care, you want to erase that achievement by removing its time locked nature and thus it’s distinction - because you want it. Who cares about all the other players that worked to get it back in Legion. They don’t matter.
Who cares about the idea of exclusivity anyway, and if Blizzard can use that to promote future epic challenges, or the unique glad mounts or AoTC mounts or CM mogs - just open it all up, who cares if ruins the uniqueness of what some people strived for and achieved. All in service to you because you want a few mogs from the MT.
But I’m the bad guy, ok. Whatever lol.
I’m expecting a less difficult version because Wowhead has shown that the damage numbers are being reduced in there.
It’s been a while since I last played my toon that has my shadowmourne, I just know initially it was. Timewalking has always had goofy stuff, or just their scaling in general. Rated Arenas first season of BFA were scaled so rogues were using their legendary daggers and whatnot. People figured out the scaling was in effect with pvp because their vanilla blue toys got scaled to ilvl 300 which was good enough.
I had a lot of fun on my warrior actually smashing a dude with Dark Iron Pulverizer in the northern Alliance zone with the bees. Just an 8 second stun. Deal with it.
we had a level squish the damage numbers would have to be reduced
No, I’m talking about give people some challenges the NEXT expansion as well. Make it a thing that happens at least once every expansion. Instead of “no you can’t get this now it was time sensitive” it should be “No you cannot get that item it was time sensitive in the expansion it was released HOWEVER, there is a current challenge mode you can do to get the time sensitive rewards this expansion.”
But it looks like by percentages, so I don’t know. We’ll see, I can only imagine they would want to make it more accessible not less.
As far as I know, the only bonuses that were turned off were the ones for the Legion artifact weapons and the Legion legendaries. Old set bonuses are disabled as well but that actually wasn’t for Timewalking, it was because people would pull a modern boss in old gear to get a set bonus buff on the pull then swap to “real gear.” The Heart of Azeroth and the legendary cloak from BFA still work, their ilvl is just too low to be better than Shadowlands greens. Since Timewalking syncs your ilvl though, that problem goes away.
Agreed, I would much rather start someone on an adventure to achieve something they will remember… than be the “you don’t, you weren’t here; you are not worthy!”
its the “what bs do I have to do today or miss forever” vs “what do I WANT to do today?”
and this game is lesser for that stance…
I’m more angry that this is our third version of the tomb of sargeras mogs, why didn’t they just do argus recolors at the very least lol. Only reason I’m gonna end up doing it is because I want the book mount, the recolors aren’t worth.
the way I read it, I would assume it would be easier as well but their timewalking content is always so full of bugs when it comes out.
The warlock is great and you don’t want the fel bear?
I saw that too but we don’t know what ilvl we’re going to be sync’d too while we’re in there. They said they’re going to normalize player power but we don’t know specifically what level they’ll make us, whether we’re going to be closer to Antorus level or Nighthold level. That will make a much larger difference than the tuning passes they made.
The difficulty of any content is relative, player power compared to enemy power. You can’t accurately gauge difficulty if you only know one side of the equation and right now that’s the state we find ourselves in for the Mage Tower.
I don’t find it reasonable to only enjoy something if no one else can have it.
In this case, I have never once asked for the Mage Tower to be brought back but when I saw that it would be, I finally got excited about the game again and by finally I mean for the first time since March. What is wrong with that?
I am sorry you don’t agree with me but if the sense of accomplishment comes from having something other people don’t, that feels very yucky to me. I would never begrudge someone something I had earned (in-game or IRL) just because they were able to earn it later.
As far as how to respond to me, you had a choice and you chose not only to do so but to do so unkindly. That is your right. It just doesn’t make it a pleasant experience for anyone (except possibly you).
