The 32 Buff Cap

I mean we don’t want to make trivial content more so. I enjoy how it is. It makes you think on your toes.

jut stop being so sweaty and you will never have such problem

TLDR; Change the game.

it’s not about world buffs. as a fury prot warrior i can hit the 32 buffs cap with just weapon procs/enchants, raid heals and my own personal buffs.

Crusader, Quel’serar, Shield Spike, 2x trinkets (take your pick), Battle shout, MOtW, Leader of the Pack, Rejuv, Regrowth, Trueshot aura, Fortitude, Fear Ward, PW:S, Renew, Inspiration, Devotion Aura, Kings, Might, Light, Improved Lay on Hands, Defensive stance, Revenge Proc, Enrage, Flurry, Bloodthirst, Bloodrage, Berserker Rage, Shield block, Shield wall, Last Stand and the 5pc T2 set bonus.

that’s no flasks, no consumables and no world buffs. sure there’s a lot in there that might not be up at the same time but this also assumes i’m actively removing other buffs that could land on me such as Arcane Brilliance, Thorns, spirit, Furious Howl (yes your hunter pet) etc.

I see some shammies posting here, totems count too. Warlocks? Not in my tank group. Druids? HoT ban, you could actually kill the tank since short hots take prio over nearly every other buff on my list including fortitude, kings, fear ward, MOtW and under the right circumstances shield wall or last stand.

This isn’t just about world buffs. I can’t even drink a grog for hps or eat some food a guildie gave me. Just the Eating is a buff, not to mention the well fed buff.

The 32 buffs were for zg right?

Pretty sad that raiding feels more like an impersonal, joyless faceroll zerg compared to a good, fun, gear-appropriate dungeon run with a handful of people. Probably why TBC offered up some decent 5/10 man content beyond the basic “normal mode” dungeons.

maybe…just maybe…this is for a reason. Stop trying to buff yourself so hard for this ez pz lemon sqez game.

Gah, necro.

Bolded the important part.

And it’s meant for the insane world buff stacking and epeen parsing culture.

That is the part that vanilla wasn’t designed around.

Sounds like that’s a problem with your raid team. :man_shrugging:

When I run or cycle I try to beat my best times overall and on certain legs almost every time, even though I’m never going to be “top 10 on Strava” or whatever. I’m sure you can find similar examples in any number of other activities. Pushing yourself adds an extra level of entertainment to it for a lot of people. If you don’t care to, that’s fine. But diminishing it or acting like its somehow about “epeens” or unique to Wow is just silly.

It’s more about the interplay it has with other people more so than just trying to do better.

It forms the basis on which classes to stack (need a certain amount of fury warriors) and actively punishes taking lesser specs because total raid dps is a big factor in individual parses. You can’t just “self improve” to high parses, you need to actively trim the raid and have everyone stacking toward the meta specs like fury and world buff stacking.

It (can) cause extreme resentment if someone makes a make and gets a player killed and wipes their buffs.

It shifts the focus of the raids, from week 1 not just farm week 25, to the warcraftlogs parses rather than actually killing bosses.

It affects loot priority, where higher ticket items are consistently given to higher performing specs because it will help the raid parse higher even though full clears only take 2 hours tops.

Of course not every group or guild is necessarily like this, but the several I’ve been tend to bleed this way. It’s more a matter of how much the resentment or complaints are handled before they explode.

I think week 1 almost every guild not going for a world first is focusing on downing bosses. But by week 32…
I think “parse-culture” or whatever you call it is a GOOD thing. It keeps people pushing and showing up even on week 32 when the content is way past engaging by itself (much like your 200th run down the same trail.)
If you make a stupid mistake and wipe the raid, that’s always going to bring some resentment. Maybe people get more worked about it then they should, but that’s life. :man_shrugging:

I think accumulating world buffs is busywork, and I’m sick of not being able to play my class or running some scuffed talent spec to not apply buffs.

I’m a healer, anyone with a brain knows healer parses are a complete meme and I scarcely even look at them. I only get world buffs because I feel obligated to for the benefit of the raid as a whole.

Just get rid of them already, they’re trash. BC can’t come soon enough.

No, raiding in general from a basic character play perspective just isn’t even 1/10 as fun or engaging as smaller-group dungeon content that you don’t out gear. Our raid group is full of nice, fun, wisecracking people who make an otherwise joyless/soulless/linear raid-combat play design bearable with their back & forth easygoing banter.

This is becoming very tiresome from a Druid’s perspective. My gear is damn near BiS but a half a second cast time invalidates most of my hard work because I’m not allowed to use Crit Regrowth. To be fair I love the access that my guild has granted me and I must abide by their request not to use HoTs but in all honestly they are just as aggravated by even having to request the concession in the first place.

The fix is simple in my opinion: don’t allow my heals or any other heal to interact with world/general buffs. You developers built this iteration of the game in the Cata engine; I don’t wanna hear your BS about technical limitations or half baked ideals about purity. Let me heal.

Summary:
Reason your upset: People get upset when their world buff gets removed.

Your solution: Remove world buffs all together.

Looks like you really put some thought into this one.

Your reading comprehension sucks man. This is an accounting issue. Heals should only effect health. That’s it. To your point: world buffs should remain as they make the content go much faster. As a person who runs these raids constantly I like it that we can burn through them.

World buffs should remain because they were a part of the original game…

$20 says the people that do raids with 32 unique buffs are the same people saying Classic is too easy
