I think this hits the nail on the head. While I do agree Blizzard has shifted away from raid or die, and done some good work here and there with gearing, they tend to be flaky when it comes to sticking to their guns regarding a final outcome. Which is where I think the biggest problem of all lies. Getting people’s hopes up that things will shift in their perspective favor. A decision has to be made. And going forward the emerging philosophy cannot shift.
There are 3 paths.
But many players are incapable of viewing them as alternate paths, and instead view it as 3 paths they must do simultaneously.
Raiders wouldn’t need separate sets of gear for pve. All mythic plus players are asking is for the stupid gems to be irrelevant in mythic plus. That doesn’t invalidate the raid gear in mythic plus it simply makes it equal to vault gear while inside mythic plus. raid gear would technically still be bis for both raid and mythic plus. But mythic plus only players could still get a gear set from vault and valor just as good albeit only for mythic plus content and not raid.
How would this proposed change be a problem to anyone. It’s such a simple fix : make the gems work only in the raid. Why is blizzard forcing people to do content they don’t want to do.
Why does everything need to revolve around gear. Lots of the problem goes away, if gear is taken out of the equation. Equalize gear. Create the equivalent of tier set bonuses, and tie them directly to progress in one of the three paths.
To take that one step further, I would say it needs to be 3 paths each leading to their respective end goal of BIS gear. OR one set of BIS gear obtainable equally from any path you choose to take. I think that is about as “fair” as you can be across the board.
Solid solution, however I doubt anyone that doesn’t just play pve will be happy with it.
Personally I’m used to being out geared by these players for years with no hard feelings. In fact they’ve saved this sweet little butt on a few occasions.
The only time it’s bothered me was when they can take out a whole area before I can swat a fly. So I have to stand there with my thumb up my…nose waiting for the respawns.
Otherwise being out geared isn’t a problem. Systems are.
For the tiny number on top, perhaps. For all those who used to subscribe to do casual PvP before it was turned into a currency generator for you and your ilk, not so much. Participation is plummeting, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see it hit rock bottom in 9.1.
I imagine the dev department being comprised of “factions”. One faction may want to produce casual content to keep millions subscribed. Another faction thinks casuals can be converted into hardcore raiders by giving them no choice. That’s the faction that’s in charge now.
More raised like a middle finger to the fanbase.
As stated so many times.
Separate gear for separate events
Who cares about bag space. Just take FF’s Armor bag and then click a button for each mode. Why is those so bad for people. Just effin do it so you don’t feel like you’re breaking any one of the 3.
These domination gems having impact in other modes that don’t have a equivalent is stupid. But hey look who’s in charge…
Their three pillars of advancement and is actually called Strategic Pillars. Those are used in the field of Strategic Thinking in corporate strategy. The way they used it is for organizational and c level direction.
This isn’t suited for game design.
Agreed on that front; fixing them would be the best solution. Systems are the new S word. I’m so )$:@“ing sick of them, and from all the QQ on the forums so are many other players.
The worst part are systems are how games are built! The fact that players can blatantly see them and gripe about them shows how obnoxious and intrusive they have become in modern WoW.
Yup. Check and mate. Unfortunately your thoughts will go no further than this thread. /sigh
First of all, “casual” references the amount of time you invest in the game, not the content you participate in. You’re confusing casual with solo or non-competitive. If you’re logged in for hours every day doing random BG’s there’s nothing casual about you.
Secondly, random BG’s are not a "pillar of advancement " anymore than LFR, or LFD are. the only difference between me and my “ilk”, is that you made the conscience decision not to participate in content.
It used to be an incentive worthy activity once upon a time. That is before wow went all esports crazy and made everything with rewards sweaty and ultra competitive.
False. “Casual” means different things to different people who identify as casuals, and also those who use it as a slur.
PvP is a pillar of advancement, just like raiding is. Bgs are the equivalent of LFR. Remove them, remove all casual content, and you have a very small number of elites left.
You made a conscious decision to eliminate content for the majority of players, knowing that players who have little to do will leave. Would it make you feel more epic if wow were reduced to 20k elites who never get content upgrades because it’s no longer profitable to support them?
I think that there can be three equal paths of progression when there is a lockout/cap for all three pillars.
Right now there’s the bourgeoisie mythic plus people who have unlimited runs and unlimited gear rewards and the starving raiders (especially heroic raiders and below) who might get one piece a week and are forced into the time run gulag because it’s an easier and more rewarding.
if you’re aiming to be the top 1% sure, but the average player can get 1800/ilvl 220 relitiviely easily, or at least by the end of a season.
Also, Random BG’s are cesspool of the worst players and biggest trolls in the game, I genuinely don’t know why people want to stay in them. RBG’s are a much more enjoyable experience (imo)… kind of like how Normal Raids can be easier than LFR
Unlimited trash, the only useful piece to M+'s comes from the vault.
The average was like 1400 this season, you might wanna think again. Stoopz made videos about it.
I thought that mythic plus loot was upgradable to very close to mythic raid levels?
I know a vast majority of my BiS gear this first tier has been from m+ and not raiding so I’m forced into the m+ gulag.
the average player is not 1800 io…
