To all of my friends for your support and standing by me virtually, as my wife prepared and left for her journey this morning at 9:45. “She Who Must Be Obeyed” was a wonderful partner in my life and I will miss her presence very much - being that her guidance was an important part of my daily activity.
“She Who Must Be Obeyed” shall live on in our hearts and minds, my dear friend. They say time heals all wounds, but I think some wounds will never really heal–and that’s okay. Some people become a part of us. That loss will always leave scars.
May you find peace in the memories you shared together and consolation in the pain that her loss has created. It is a sign of the great love you shared in this life, and there shall never be another like it. And that is a very beautiful thing indeed.
Now that She is no longer with us, it is incumbent upon me to explain why I have always placed her name in quotes. The name “She Who Must Be Obeyed” did not originate with me. It comes from a PBS series called Rumpole Of The Bailey.
No one ever questioned me about it, so I waited… and waited… and kept using the name in quotes. Should I have done more to explain? Maybe. At the risk of making y’all look ignorant - no - I don’t think so. I love you all too much and would rather you let me take the brunt, than you.
I hereby retire the name and thank you for understanding.
