I also like it, this one feels a lot more powerful, while the other one was some 2d animation with no juice behind it making it feel mighty.

Exactly. How can you make a spell literally called lightning bolt and change it to a static ball?

To me it looks like Zeus chucking a lightning bolt at someone from Mount Olympus, like an actual “bolt” of lightning. Chain lightning (which I adore) lives up to its name - it’s a chain of lightning.
Old lightning bolt was just a downgraded JPG of chain lightning.
I do think they should allow glyphs to allow customization though. I’d like classic versions of frost bolt, shadow bolt, and wrath to return.

It looks like a shinier version of the stupid little blue ball from vanilla. It looks like something an engineer would shoot with some dumb “lightning gun”. It doesn’t look like a spell wielded by an master of the elements, or the kind of the gods of Olympus.

Not going to lie as someone that has played shaman since BC, this is the best Lightning Bolt animation since OG Vanilla animation.
Good job, love it, keep it.
P.S. If you like the old LB animation, just press Chain Lightning, they always looked the same anyways.

Patently false. And if you couldn’t tell the difference, you shouldn’t be making any kind of aesthetic comments because your eyes don’t work.
CL is a consistent arc of electricity. LB was a single -shockingly- bolt of Lightning with an extremely satisfying “ka-POW” sound effect.

They looked the same. My eyes work just fine 20/20.
This new one looks at least closer to the original animation.

I’ve been asking for an updated lightning bolt animation for years and blizzard finally pulled through. I am happy with the new lightning bolt. You are insane if you think the older one is better.

Yeah, Now rather than looking like a storm, when your LB overloads, it looks like you’re shooting off some multi-shot engineering gadget. It’s SO much better than an actual proper bolt of lightning like the name clearly states.
Guess I’m insane then : /

The new lightning bolt is way too flashy imo, it actively makes me not wanna cast it. Like its genuinely insane that my filler lightning bolts are flashier than my tempests.

i know it’s a unpopular opinion, but i kinda liked the new LB.
Feels good’old school.
I like the new animation as well tbh, I think it would be cool to get glyphs to change the color to red lightning or white lightning for air/fire elements, we have sets with red and white lightning already anyway.
I don’t hate the new Lightning bolt but something about it feels off and has definitely lowered my motivation to play shaman and therefore WoW in general.
I keep missing the old Lightning Bolt, which yes, actually looked like a lightning bolt and I also much preferred the satisfying sound it had.
Overall this change feels like I do about the Ascendance update and reminds me of that Dave Chappelle joke about an above ground pool:
”Yeah, … it’s a pool…”

I despise the new Lightning Bolt, it looks so goofy and clunky and both enhance and elemental it feels out of place.
Um, I think you may be in the minority for playing an Elemental Shaman and WANTING your lightning bolt to look like an Engineering device.
