Thank you for finally killing Aug, now correct your mistake and give Evoker 2 more specs

I created a dracthyr dev evoker for the first time a couple a weeks ago to get a sapphire vorquin for another of my characters and ended up playing it every day since because it is so much fun.

But I am not seeing a tank class. It just looks too… physically weak and fragile.

Little hard to do with a skinny lizard.

Umm… that wouldn’t work logically or logistically.

The tank would just be kiting the boss all over the room.

With wings!

That fold completely together when playing a melee class.

Okay, now that I have shared my personal dragon role-playing fantasy…

The visage form never should have existed. It doesn’t make sense from any angle. So, while I am enjoying it as part of my role-play, I wouldn’t have a problem with it being deleted as I feel it ‘dilutes’ the race.

But, if I were queen of wow, I wouldn’t delete it because wasting resources already spent would be… well, a waste. Instead I would split the two forms into two dragon races.

Details for any who are interested:

Summary

The dracthyr would be and play exactly as they are now but without a visage form. Their backstory wouldn’t have the control device in it, instead they would be considered a failed experiment because they failed in that battle and they were locked away in case Neltharion decided to tinker with them more or use them as biological material for another experiment. And they would be Alliance.

Then I would create the ‘Drakling’ for the Horde.

The drakling would have also been created by Neltharion, but their true form would be that of a dragon the size of Blackpaw, not a dragon-humanoid mix but the actual creature and they would have the elven humanoid visage form. And they would have the control device in their backstory and have been locked away after it broke because Neltharion feared them.

How would a ranged tank spec even work? The whole idea is for the mob to punch the tank.

Oh, so you’re just wrong on a fundamental level. Post ignored.

First time eh? You get used to it. Only mages get to be S tier forever.

I’d settle for them finishing the race and allowing them to actually wear the armor you get in the game. You know, the true endgame?

the same way it works in nearly ever other MMO (FFXIV,SWTOR,ESO)

Being a melee tank with a few abilities that have 30 yard range to pull mobs?

The whole “support role” thing was a complete failure. They should just convert augmentation into a tank.

Range tank? Moonfire spamming bears?

literally one of the tallest and largest playable races in the game

void elves have a racial that ignores pushback on all of its classes, the same would be for Dracthyr tanks

So would a ranged tank like it does in every other MMO.

they’re plenty encounters i can think of where being able to cast all your abilties at ranged would benefit a tank the fact you guys are acting like it doesnt work when it actively does in MULTIPLE OTHER MMORPGS is just you not playing enough MMOs

For things like this devs doesn’t take evoker problems seriously.

Describe these encounters

I’ve never seen a tank which isn’t a melee tank in any game, even the ones you’ve suggested. FF14, enemies close to melee. Having 40 yard range is meaningless if your role is to stand in melee.

So a thing that exist in other MMOS but not WoW is seemed as a troll concept. you cant be fr man

not it isnt, some classes require them to be close to use their spells (arcane explosion and immolation aura for example) Those classes are still fundamently “RANGED” classes.

SURE.

Off the top of my head Huntsman Altimor, Hecutis phase… where the tank takes the dog away from the boss and just hits that dog while the raid hits the boss. A ranged tank could simply do both; even the phases with the 3 dogs oyu needed to CC and kite… a range tank wouldbe able to hit all these dogs while helping CC them as well.

Would also like to point out the game lacks a caster tank, a Tank evoker spec will fill that void

Firstly, no, DH is not a ranged class and immolation aura is not the reason for that. Secondly, arcane explosion is 1 ability. It doesn’t make arcane mage a melee spec because they can perform adequately outside of melee range by using the majority of their other abilities. The same way throwing an axe on a warrior doesn’t make them a ranged class.

clearly talking about warlock hellfire my bad, it just became immolation aura esque in Cata Classic and thats what i played recently

also dont mages have multiple abilites that require “close” range be it dragons’ breath or the fact arcane barrage is better to hit multiple enemies if you group them up … or frost nova also being a “Close” ability.

Evokers were made to be a new caster class in a sea of melee additions added to the game.

I am hopeful that if it were to get a Tank and Melee DPS spec those specs would be caster as well.

The dogs share HP with the boss, so every tank can already do both.

So you want to be able to kite, hit everything, and be the hardest thing to kill

I’ve said before I would have liked for a second dps spec, focusing on blue and black magic.
But have Sarkareth master the void and bring his teachings back to the creches would have been cool, resulting in a void dps/tank spec.

Aug needs to go full dps spec with a minor support gimmick. Like enh and windfury.

That’s it simple.

Also visage form is awesome

a warrior can on hit dog or boss, a ranged Evoker could split DPS both therefore increasing their throughput.

Ranged tanks in other games play similar to DH or brewmaster in Mythic+

the spec wouldnt be about kititng but it simply would be the best tank at avoiding damage while holding agro. probably wouldnt be used in a mythic RWF on a boss that you cant space but would be good on council fights for example or fights with plenty of adds

i’d also like to point out that even Season of DISCOVERY has a caster tank through demonolgy warlocks that play nothing like Demon Hunters

You want 40 yard range full uptime cleave? Lol. Rofl even.

So, melee.

Yes, a full tank which was able to keep enemies at 40 yards would be the best tank, because that would be broken.
