I’d love to see the spreadsheet comparison that proves having “FOMO” items is better at retaining subs than leaving the challenge up all the time so that anyone can earn it who is willing to try… I bet it doesn’t exist.
Yes, as a player who unlocked almost all of the Mage tower appearances I wanted, I found I was too busy with real life to commit to leveling every spec, gearing every spec and then doing the challenge on every class.
As someone with many of these appearances unlocked, I want all these appearances to be made available. It’s simple, a new player earning something I got 10 years ago isn’t going to ruin my excitement and feeling for earning it. This would also provide a huge amount of good will with the player base, with the downside of upsetting a small amount of players. Players I don’t think I would miss, honestly.
Imagine being so failed at life that you have to gatekeep digital items in a fantasy game just to feel like you accomplished something.
