Every group running the same comp every single dungeon taking the same route every single dungeon is extremely boring to watch in my opinion. Its just a parse damage simulator at that point.
Like i understand a meta will always exist but why not break it every half season or once a season instead of letting 1 comp reign supreme the entire xpac.
Also good to see the primal tsunami bugs happened for a second there in the great push as well maybe now they will get fixed.
I think it would be a lot more interesting if they chose a random comp for each dungeon. Same comp for each team so it’s fair. Just different comp for each dungeon. Or even diff comp for each day would be almost as good.
The fact that it’s all the same comp for hours. Same routes for hours. Basically like you said makes it just a damage meter contest. Or a “who screws up and wipes the most”.
that’s pretty much why i don’t think 5 man dungeons make good E-sports…it’s also really hard to watch competitions like this when your class isn’t represented…cuz what the heck is going on with a class you’ve never touched before?
as a viewer, i think understanding what’s happening on the screen is very important…no matter how good your casters are, if it looks like busy slop, you’re not going to grow the activity.
On the season 1 ladder it looks like mage spriest are still firmly meta.
Rdruid still firmly meta and dh is still in there to except it was usually dps So the only thing that changed in season 1 was prot pally being meta tank.
In season 2 fire mage and spriest still meta ofc and then you just swapped pally to healer and druid to tank so same classes and no dh this time cause augmentation was just outlandishly broken in season 2.
In season 3 rdruid healer still meta mage shadow priest still meta and evoker still meta. with vengeance as the tank in other words same classes except pally.
And of course in season 4 its still spriest mage evoker as meta dps rdruid still meta healer and vengeance still meta tank.
So do tell me what really shifted except a role swap here and there?
Tbf while SP and mage were part of S1’s meta, so were locks, shamans, rogues, druids, demon hunters, paladins, and even top teams on warriors and windwalker. And that’s just the dps.
Things got much, much worse, agreed, but S1 was some of the best balance we’ve ever had for M+.
same with professional sports. every baseball team has one pitcher. snore. where are the teams with three pitchers? the teams with two shortstops instead of a 3rd baseman? the teams where the outfielders use jai alai cestas instead of gloves?
We actually saw different comp in the past TGP. When aster a or y can’t remember timed a 32 NW they did it with a pally tank and i think they were the only team running in pally tank in this key. I think it’s the first TGP where there’s absolutely no variation in any keys.
Hum … that’s a silly statement. In hockey there’s lot of variation. Edmonton is running a AHL goalie with two HOF forwards. Vegas is running a big team and defensive along with less skills forward. Colorado is running a star offensive dman and center. In baseball you have teams with good pitchers, teams with good batters, teams with good bullpen, etc … best players are not always playing the same position and neither the same style. There will always be a best comp but atm the difference between the defensive/utility of classes is massive.
sorry, should have specified that only one of them is generally on the field at any given time.
and i mean for each team, of course. i realize that in NL games, you can actually have two pitchers on the field simultaneously, one from each team. you know, since we’re being precise here
