In 3D model drawing, it is essential to paint some in-texture shadows to make the model more convincing, such as on the belly of a dragon or around the turret of a tank.
World of Warcraft had state-of-the-art 3D models in the old days when tier sets were created in-house. Examples can be Warrior’s T6 Onslaught or S3 Vengeful Gladiator’s. When worn by female characters, you can see the in-texture shadows on the chest pieces are painted in a textbook-perfect manner: extending from the center of the chest to armpits, following the body curves.
However, if you look at Legion-era remakes like ToS set Titanic Onslaught or Legion S3&4 Cruel Gladiators, the in-texture shadows are noticeably missing on female toons, making the 3D model look amateurish. This is not how ATVI wants to present WoW’s visual creations.
For female Warrior toons, I have found the following chest pieces’ missing in-texture shadows the most noticeable:
- Tome of Sargeras set: [Titanic Onslaught Breastplate], all recolors
- Legion Season 3 & 4 set: [Cruel Gladiator’s Plate Chestpiece]
- Antorus set: [Juggernaut Breastplate], all recolors
- Blackrock Foundary (T17) set: [Blackhand’s Chestguard], all recolors
- Uldir set: [Chestplate of Apocalyptic Machinations] / [Chestguard of Virulent Mutagens], all recolors
- Sanctum of Domination set: [Cuirass of the Lonely Citadel] / [Ancient Colossus Chassis], all recolors
- Shadowlands Season 2 set: [Unchained Gladiator’s Plate Chestplate], all recolors
Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter.
