Testing of Same-Faction Battlegrounds Will Continue

Oh, okay Mother Teresa. Why don’t you show how selfless you are by rolling Alliance and helping out your fellow man?

https://www.reddit.com/r/classicwow/comments/ohhpjf/blizzard_data_shows_alliance_players_die_50_more/

Blizzard data shows alliance players die 50% more on average in wPvP.

Given that the faction ratio is roughly 60/40 in favor of the horde across all EU and US PvP servers, a 50/50 split of deaths actually indicates that alliance players died significantly more often per player (1.5x as much to be precise).

The math is fairly simple. Say there were 2000 players on a server (1200 horde and 800 alliance) and 10000 PvP deaths over the weekend on this server (5000 horde deaths, 5000 alliance deaths). Horde players would have died on average 4.17 times, while alliance players died on average 6.25 times. 6.25/4.17 = 1.5 times as many alliance deaths per player.

Blizzard’s phrasing is at best misleading and at worst highly disingenuous, and ironically their purported data shows the exact opposite of what they intended it to show.

This guy knows what’s up.

Apparently you didn’t read the whole post. Or you’re illiterate. Choose one.

OR . . .since the population overall on PvP servers (https://dotesports.com/wow/news/wow-classic-server-populations ) is skewed towards Horde, it could mean for every Alliance killed by Horde, there are 20 Horde kill by Alliance.

Which would mean Alliance are WPvP GODS! Other than that, the 50/50 split of deaths makes zero sense. And I doubt Blizzard will explain this weird data point of theirs.

It’s okay I know you’ll forgive me. After all, you’re the saint here and everyone else is just being selfish.

No.

You can use simple reasoning to make sense of it.

There’s a lot more horde available to be killed, and thus, alliance have more opportunities to engage with horde than horde do with alliance.

It’s amazing how people don’t understand this.

And when these opportunities arise, Horde just don’t win?

Why are these Alliance killing so many Horde? Are Horde just bad PvPers? Are they so surprised at seeing a rare Alliance that they just stand there in shock without fighting?

During this weekend, from which the stats were gleaned, probably so.

Why?

Because the horde that like PvP were in BGs the whole time taking advantage of the test in order to maximize their honor. The weekend is not a typical raid night for most guilds, so summoning stone griefing probably wasn’t a widespread issue, nor any other world-necessitated activity.

Your first inclination is probably to go “Well then it’s good for alliance right?!”.

Except…no, it’s not, because it completely ignores the poor faction balance that many feel is crucial. We don’t have to prove nor do we need Blizzard data to prove that the factions are imbalanced either. The queue times says it all.

Critical hit to the jugular.

Balance isn’t the reason there is a faction imbalance. Orcs, Trolls and Undead are just cooler than Humans, Gnomes, and Elves. I know, you can’t face this absolute FACT, but its still true.

Or it could be that Blizzard gathered their “internal data” by having someone log on a character and fight a member of the opposing faction 10 or so times. They lost half the fights and won half. There’s your 50/50.

We don’t KNOW because Blizzard won’t say. What we do know is their “internal data” has been shown to be demonstrably wrong in the past. There’s zero reason to take this at face value and every reason not to.

Good Job Blizzard

I Wonder if Alliance are gonna keep this same Energy when Wotlk comes out with insanely Over powered Racial, and when all the Fotm PVP players reroll Human, the same alliance who are complaining about Horde Racials, complain about that too.

No, WotLK will be Horde’s turn to complain about those things.

Of course not. We’re all going to say we’ve always played Alliance. We play Alliance so we can play with all our friends. We play for the lore and we love the aesthetics.

Something along those lines.

–> These changes are great.

–> All the alliance players whining simply have no logic. You guys have had literally 2-5 min queues per BG, whilst we’ve been dealing with 20-30-40mins. IF YOU UPPED YOUR GAME AND PLAYED STRATS IN BGS YOU WOULD NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM. Take advantage of the fact that you have lower queue times, and instead of crying about the fact that you’re losing UP YOUR GAME.

–> Discussion of racials and all the other ridiculous nonsense is pathetic. IM AN ORC ROGUE. I’m not an undead rogue. AND I DONT PLAY FOR HAVING THE MIN MAX RACIAL b.s. I’ve been orc since vanilla, you seriously think I’m going to re-roll to an undead rogue simply because “Oh I have to mix max my character”.

The only thing alliance players do is whine and complain. Whilst Horde get their sh1t together and just play the game for what it is.

I could spend a NELF rogue and play exactly the same whether I get the first sap or dont. The same goes for locks, mages and any other class.

PLAY THE GAME.
