Terrible state of TWW M+ and how to save it

But he’s 100% right, at least in reference to this thread. The ideas presented, if implemented, would make M+ into heroics. The goal should be ramping challenge and rewards, something people can push into one step at a time, gradually. And yes, this season absolutely fails to do that.
Problem identified. Solution is garbo.

It’s been 3 weeks now (not even) at most some tuning could take place but reshuffling the entire reward structure seems like it’s too much.

It’s probably an item Id in the code with a number by for end of dungeon loot. It’d take an hour to fix for the 8 dungeons. Blizz doing that would be suggesting that what they initially proposed was wrong. We’re in the last quarter of the year so whoever made these stupid changes won’t get any pressure from any financial repercussion that happen until January. I imagine S2 maybe better but it’s questionable.

And this is bad why exactly? All it does is makes the game accessible to more players. This is good thing. More players playing and being happy is a good for the game as a whole.

Contrary, gatekeeping content from players by arbitrary restrictions and absurd difficulty does nothing but cause players to quit the game en masse.

Those who want challenge/difficulty will still be able to push higher keys, no one taking that away.

Considering amount of damage going out in M+ right now it’s not insane nerf at all and will bring it closer to reasonable expectations and promised smooth damage intake.

Affixes are nothing but a major annoyance, no one likes them. Removing them will only remove annoyance and won’t affect difficulty too much. So again nothing insane about it.

My ideas are pretty light, so no, not even close…

  • extreme shortage of tanks and healers (it’s pretty clear that massive nerfs to those roles only made situation much worse)

I can only contribute to the argument with regards to this age old problem of tank shortages. PVE raids are designed for 1-2 tanks in any given 20-30man raid, while you need 1 tank for 5 man content, this does NOT align at all and encounter design needs to account for both ecosystems. If these apes designed raids to require 4 tanks you would see a much more balanced tank to DPS ratio for M+ queues.

As to how you make 4 tank encounters? Well if you really need some ideas from armchair developers here are my random ideas:

  • You can have tanks 1-2 do your usual SUPER CREATIVE 20-year tank swap mechanics
  • Boss can have 1-2 abilities that targets only a player of your choosing (maybe they can click on something or hold a encounter object). For 40seconds this tank takes damage from 2-3 abilities he needs to actively mitigate (ontop of the usual raid mechanics), at the end of 40secs the raid takes all the damage that this tank failed to mitigate as shared raid wide damage.
  • Tank 4 can do something like active add control or some form of directional aoe blocking mechanic where his own mitigation will reduce raid dmg taken behind him.
  • etc etc

That’s the first problem, next you also have the entirely player driven issue where people absolutely abuse tanks and that deters people from trying to play tank.

  • Tanks already have the most responsibility in the group (arguably Healers as well). They need to know the routes and dungeon inside out and they need to pace their pulls and know every mechanic better than any DPS.
  • I’ve had back to back PUGs where as a 2.3k tank in a +9, get flamed for pulling 2 packs on and off and being an ego tank, get flamed by a 2.5k RETard for pulling too slow on Tyranical and that I need to learn how to pace, pull 2 packs with only 2 casters to interrupt but still die with mitigation on because people aren’t interrupting or healer pug couldn’t keep up, get flamed for having a poor Siege route because I left out the last far pack on 3rd boss and the Mage blinked into it. The list goes on…

I play with my with my wife, she came back after long time since Legion (6 years), she bought a new PC just for playing wow. Well… we tried to do many M+ Dgs this week. it was Absolutely punishing and not fun at all. We are tired of doing Delves for better gear than M+.

She is a Shaman healer and im a Guardian tank. Those specs are awful right now, and i read somewhere that Guardian is the top tier this season. I can’t imagine how terrible are the others because I’m dying for spike damage in 2 Globals time if i dont engage with barkskins preactive.

She just told me that coming back to wow was a mistake a she will cancel the game again because it makes her more stressed than doing nothing at all. And I’m sympathetic to this feeling.

And this time I guess she wont coming back at all and Im leaving wow for good as well. Its been 20 years of this krap.

because they always make the last season a joke in terms of gear acquisition since they’re not introducing any new content. It’s apples to oranges. complain about this if s4 TWW is difficult to gear

Isn’t identifying the solutions his job ?

Nope. There are plenty of m+ tanks, including myself, who never step into raids. There also m+ tanks raiding as dps/heal to funnel gear for m+ progression.
M+ tank shortage has nothing with raids. In fact raid tanking and m+ tanking are 2 completely different games.

You must do something wrong. Rsham and Gdruid are the top tiered atm.

Yes, you always engage the combat with a def cd.
If I always shield wall on pull for dangerous pulls.
In the current meta, you have to frontload def cds. After like 20s, the dmg intake is like w/e.

If you’ve played this game since Legion, Blizzard invented a formula that they’ve been repeating each expansion:

  • Create fun finished product everyone would enjoy
  • Add limitations that almost entirely remove the fun for the majority of players
  • Throughout the expansion slowly remove those limitations claiming you were listening to feedback and oopsie we didn’t know people didn’t like this silly us uwu

Basically they start with the solution and then add problems that are slowly removed over the expansion to keep people resubbing and build goodwill pretending that the devs are reacting to feedback.

Its genius really.

There are really 2 overarching problems that they brought in this season that makes everything seem worse.

  1. The nerf to rewards meaning that casuals need to try to do +10 for myth vault instead of a +8, and do 9s (8s now) for Gilded crests instead of +6.

  2. The change to AOE stops. For about 6 years, AOE stops have been patching over the problems of interrupting in an uncoordinated group not using voice or automarkers. Now pugs are basically just expecting all their groups to be psychics who know exactly when not to waste their interrupt. That doesn’t work and will never work.

yes. :100:

Always amusing to see people celebrate “BLIZZ W” after they reverse some random bad decision they made in game. I especially like how they mix up end-game systems every single patch when things were running smooth. Job security must be a really important goal over there, cuz these people are terrified of polishing and having a finished game.

I think it’s partly because they’re introducing dracthyr on six new classes. Specs with strong aoe CC are getting two more aoe stops in Tail Swipe and Wing Buffet. Feels like they’re fixing a problem they made, though it might also be that the top m+ teams just got too good at rotating stops and this was the best solution they could find.

  1. It’s funny to associate mythic track with casuals for mythic+ when nobody would think of doing that for rading.

  2. TWW just changed how stops work back to how it used to work. DF is the exception, TWW works like every single other expansion except DF.

They should never balance the game around what top players do. They cant seem to figure this out though

You might think it’s funny but that’s how M+ has worked since it was first put in the game.

the problem with M+ is that there is a lot of terrible players

bingo. i have rolled 2 alts just to organically climb my way up the ladder and not in a premade like my main is. the average m+ player in keys below a 9 is beyond terrible

I’ve done 3 keys in a row with shamans who talented Poison Cleansing Totem but never pressed it.
