Tencent, Diablo, Mobile and the Chinese Market

Actizzard just keeps sinking lower and lower. At the very least can they borrow a shaolin monk and learn how to make a proper monk class?

Sanctimonious

You come to the World of Warcraft forums on the forum specifically for discussing world of warcraft not the sub forum for games, gaming and hardware to discuss a Diablo Mobile game and call me sanctimonious ?

Always hilarious when people think they’re a moderator, but are nothing more than a jumped up little...
Oh, that's why it looks so generic.

The one thing blizzard isnt accounting for is how fast mobile games are memory holed in china..

They have flavor the weeks
sometimes flavor of the days
rarely do games get a stable continuous population in chinese mobile gaming.
(sorry dog collecting game my wife was insane about for 5 days)

This is going to blow up in their faces hard
They play until they hit the paywall then they move on.
Well duh. The nouveau riche in China eat this kind of crap up because being able to dump loads of cash on a game is a status symbol. It's not about the game, it's about bragging to your rich friends on how you spent $50 American on a pair of glittery digital pants.

All the money in the world can't buy good taste.

Yup. And all of the average players play until the leaderboards get bought out and then they move on to the next thing, or they start botting the game and cheating.

Tencent has a substantial stock holding in Nu-blizzard
There is a reason why a chinese company was commissioned with creating this mobile game.

This game was/is being created for the Chinese mobile market.
My wife is from Shanghai
All of her friends are talking about diablo for the mobile phone already back home.

This game was never designed for the fans or for those looking to get into a dark and gritty RPG adventure.

This game was designed to hit the Chinese mobile market which is booming right now.
Tencent will be the one delivering this game to the chinese market.

The reason why a chinese developer was chosen to make this is because chinese people tend to trust chinese companies over anyone else in terms of tech. They can look at the game with a sense of pride (we have taken a western franchise and taken it for our own.) and the most important reason is they can make it "china friendly"

What do i mean by "china friendly"?? This company understand the rules and regulations of the CCP and will be able to get a government seal of approval to launch the game.

This was never about you
this is about cornering the chinese mobile market for investors

if you guys are really wondering why they made diablo into a mobile game this is it.
its about cornering the chinese mobile market.

My wifes friends are already talking about the game back in shanghai
When PUBG came out in China is created a firestorm of mobile gamers.

My wifes friends didnt even care about video games until pubg came to phones.
Now they are all addicts

Tencent or Netease?

Hmm, that's what Europeans used to say about rich Americans after WWII.
I don’t hate Chinese gamers, but I’m not sure making your other loyal fans angry is a great idea unless you think this game is going to be a long-lasting cash cow.

The WoW movie was supposedly huge in China and I haven’t heard a peep about sequels in the works. I’m not sure being big in China is always working as intended for countries that aren’t China.
