Ten Reasons why Classic Era is superior to all other forms of World of Warcraft

  1. All gear is useful in all situations. Gear that you get from naxx is useful in both pvp and pve, Gear that you get from attaining high warlord is useful in both pve and pvp.
  2. The only currency that matters is gold, there are no excess currencies that you have to farm just to be able to afford gear or other items. if you have a lot of gold, you’re set for life and don’t have to do a ton of farming other currencies.
  3. There’s no treadmill, once you have your bis for a particular spec, you’re set for life. you’re allowed to raid and acquire gear at your own pace.
  4. Professions stay relevant even in naxx. Right now, Engineering is heavily critical for quick naxx runs as everyone uses goblin sapper charges and dense dynamite to clear naxx.
  5. the main difficulty in the game is preparation. you spend the week preparing for the next raid lockout by gathering consumes and world buffs. For people with pleanty of gold, this isn’t too difficult and doesn’t require much time, for people without gold, it requires that you go out in the world and farm gold to get the consumes you need.
  6. GDKPs are still legal. Because gold is such a central currency in the game, the legality of GDKPs means that gold flows downwards instead of sitting in peoples accounts. people who raid but cant afford gear still get a payout at the end of the raid, so they have a motivation to raid, people with gold big on big ticket items such as bwl trinkets, the tiger mount from ZG, Bindings, and other such things. People who have all the gear are incentivized to raid because they can expect a larger pay out for better dps. everyone wins.
  7. All raids remain relevant because there are no catch up mechanisms that skip raids. fresh sixties are incentivized to raid in ZG and AQ20 to gear up, while older players are incentivized to raid them for the payouts, and the chance of a tiger mount in ZG.
  8. World pvp is a thing because there are centralized locations where players travel to get to raids and such. BRM, Silithus, STV, and Eastern Plaguelands are hotbeds of world pvp because people are there to get to raids.
  9. A sense of community because you usually know the people you’re raiding with.
  10. an absence of Fomo because Classic Era is always going to be there, waiting for you with open arms when you’re ready to return.

Totally agree :+1: it’s always fun. It’s always relevant.

It’s amazing how much fun you can have going out to farm the mats that you need to raid! I don’t know how many great PVP battles I’ve gotten into in the process, and getting a nice payout after max is amazing, now I can buy 20 flasks of supreme power so I can continue to one shot people in warsong

Classic Era is timeless. Having a forever-version is the best gift Blizzard ever gave us. Ill play here until my final days.

Classic Era is always gonna be the best . I do miss being in a guild. That was one of my favorite things from classic.

Sorry I will always be against 6. And that sort of flows to 3. Why would you need to raid and get gear when you are BIS? And most likely BIS from buying in GDKPs and most likely paid for by purchased gold. And the side effect to that impacts 9.
GDKP is prevalent and, in my view, it should not be.
Paid boosting is another problem.
And don’t get me started on botting.

  1. Indeed
  2. Also a good thing, the multiple currencies of TBC onwards turned things into a headache
  3. Agreed
  4. Only issue is that you are absolutely tied to having engineering. Obviously engineering is a mainstay of vanilla but in a perfect world it wouldn’t require a profession slot due to how impactful it is.
  5. Yes and that definitely impacts the accessibility for people with limited time.
  6. And herein lies the problem. If you don’t have gold OR gear, you are generally barred from joining GDKPs until you get some. No one wants a leech. Alongside with the insane inflation era has and it seems impossible to catch up.

Agreed with the rest. Really GDKPs and the gold inflation that fuels it is era’s main problem, to the point where finding just a regular non GDKP group is impossible.

not in my experience :expressionless_face:

There are a couple barriers to getting into raids on Era especially aq40/Naxx.

  • You need to know someone
  • Play a desired class (warrior/healer) and be geared with decent logs.
  • Have deeep pockets from “DM jump runs” obviously.

If you don’t meet atleast one of those going to be near impossible to get into aq40/Naxx. The other raids shouldn’t be too hard to get into although will be the rougher raid groups again based on the above.

This might be the case on horde but in my experience, alliance hasn’t been too bad. There are several guilds that host 3-5 naxx’s a week, along with pop up raids.

The only barrier to entry I’ve seen has been raid comp with every raid wanting 6 melee groups which kinda makes sense becasue warrior loot is the loot that really sales these days.

Hell yeah brother.

This is great for me. Currently working on a horde pvp smite priest, all my gear is PVE. I don’t care about raiding at all but GDKP let’s me gear up for PVP. Albeit slowly.

Never had a problem getting into AQ40, on alliance there’s even groups that auto invite. Literally, auto invite you into AQ40. Naxx is hard fosure though. Good news - you don’t need Naxx gear to compete in pvp. I don’t have a single piece of Naxx gear but I can kill naxx geared players just fine.

I crit a might of menthil warrior for 2.6 k smite today. Straight to the shadow realm.

Nice to hear but I’m betting they aren’t inviting more than 1-2 locks, 1 hunter ,1 druid, more than 1-2 Rogues, unless they meet the criteria I mentioned above. And in almost all cases those niche support slots/classes are locked in by a long time rostered person. They def aren’t taking a fresh unknown person unless they showing gold cap in trade window. Again I’m not saying this is bad or good im just outlining what the guy who’s gonna be new to the server can expect to see.

If you roll a warrior or healer and show you have a fraction of a brain cell you got a chance though.

Not experienced with alliance but on horde the Aq40 and naxx runs are 100% meta comp. The odd Aq40 that isn’t is run by jajas that bring buyers and don’t clear or takes 5 hrs to clear.

And true you can just afk in AV and get r14 which can be good enough for most players.

Well I’ve noticed from LFG chat that horde AQ40’s mostly seem to do Viscidus, alliance mostly DON’T do visc. Maybe that’s why horde is more meta.

Alliance you need to farm the sacs which are time limited, horde shamans just drop poison cleanse totem. That’s why all horde runs do visc and only certain ally runs do visc.

Oh ye that makes sense, haven’t raided on horde yet.

Horde raiding especially aq40 and naxx is primarily the same like 60 people on like 10 different alts. So if your not part of that click you def aren’t raiding naxx and prob only doing Aq40 if those runs need last minute fills or in the demon jaja runs (there are a few runs I won’t name names but if you show gold cap they will take you because they take like 10-15% host cuts and want more gold) . 20 man’s, MC and BWLs are fairly common and not too hard to get into though. Unless your like a hunter/druid/lock then even those only taking like 1.

Well I only need aq40 and I know how to press prayer of healing, so should be fine. I keep watching these horde aq40’s take an hour to fill, usually asking for priests too. Maybe they the jaja raids you talking about not sure. I only need 5/5 t2.5 so should be easy as a holy priest imo.

On horde for the most part the “organized “ runs are all rostered/setup in discord if you see spam in game its either for fills because people last minute called out or its prob a demon jaja/buyer run. There are exceptions but that’s the norm.
